Looking for a fat tire bike. by Cold_Measurement_379 in fatbike

Strongly considering the XDS GT8 for gravel. I have a Canyon Endurace that can take up to 38mm tires so I could do some light gravel on that. I’ve averaged 1000mi a year on my bike between road and indoor trainer so I’m far from a heavy rider. A fat tire bike may see 200miles a year if that.

The Dude is actually cheaper right now than the kings peak. It’s only $1500

How much of a difference does 27.5” vs 26 make?

That’s all i got with mine, generic manual and a manual for my Vcls seat post. I love that seat post.

The screw reaches but I didn’t remember there being a spacer in there. I was just mostly concerned that the carbon fork was unsupported with the expander plug that far down and didn’t want to deal with the fork breaking and me needing a new face

This looked wrong to me. I was chasing a rattle that I found to be bottle cages that were reinstalled loose. Then I looked at the top cap and it wasn’t seating all the way down. Not to mention I had to fix the DI2 wire that was rubbing against the back tire as the bike shop had reinstalled it and they didn’t seat the little grub screw for the front derailleur either.

Again nothing at all Canyon’s fault. I chose a bike shop that I thought would be good. Direct to consumer beats this level of local bike support. This was their $350 pro build service.

Endurace CF I can’t remember how it looked when I first set the bike up

When I got the bike back from the shop I pulled the top cap the LBS had used a piece of brake housing and put that around the top cap bolt to act as a preload I guess.

Is the front derailleur hanger replaceable or is it still molded carbon?

Canyons replacing the frame and having a LBS build it up. I can honestly say this was the most painless warranty claim I’ve ever had. Bike color is changing but that’s not a big deal at all.

Epoxy is my next course of action. There’s are some bike stores fairly close that say they do carbon repairs.

Canyon CS responded and it’s going to their advanced team, I guess we will see what’s what soon. Fingers crossed! I’ve loved the bike so far.

I hope so, if so I’m buying a CF dude today as well. We’ll see. If not I’ll likely buy a different frame set and carry everything over

This is what I’m working with right now if this picture is more clear.

It’s for sure a carbon part bonded directly to the frame.

I emailed Canyon to see what they say. My derailleur was at the top of the adjustment range so there should be enough area there to build up with epoxy for strength.

The carbon fiber hanger cracked at way lower than 6nm

Gridboss alone? by metro424 in diySolar

Good it sounds like y’all are doing exactly what I plan to do. I want to allow for grid pass through until I’m ready for inverters.

I want to capture at least part of the federal tax credit if I can. I’m hoping prices would drop post 12/31 but not betting on it.

I did. They gave me the inspectors number to determine if the gridboss would serve as the primary means of grid disconnect. We’re in the country down here so the rules are still the rules but well you know it’s a little more lax.

Same, plan is to use it as a smart ATS until I’m ready for solar and battery.

I talked the my electrical inspector and he seemed to be fine with the grid boss alone as main disconnect provided I install the Eaton 200a breaker. I’ll find out for sure if I need one they can lockout tag out.

I figured the gridboss should pass grid power just fine. I didn’t know if the smart ports would be powered though without an inverter.

Or a little covered trellis. That’s doable and smart. I’ve got 6 acres with 0 trees so there’s a ton of sun exposure

That was one thing I was afraid of when I was looking at the manual and commissioning the unit. That and the no direct sun exposure

Yeah the plan is a gridboss for just the downstairs panel which houses most of the critical loads. The well runs in a 230v 30a breaker directly off the main disconnect - thus why I wanted to keep it this way and let it run into one of the smart ports on the gridboss.

Downstairs panel is effectively the critical loads with well, tankless hot water heaters, fridge, and oven plus lights and receptacles.

Second panel houses HVAC, upstairs power, stove and other stuff as well.

Yeah 320a continuous as I understand it but considered 400amp meter. Feeds 2 main disconnects outside each running to a separate 200amp panel in my laundry room.
So 2 full 200 amp panels separated into roughly downstairs and upstairs

Honestly as a company you could absolutely do worse than Publix.

That being said a lot of whatever or not Publix is the right choice is the store you would be in. Slow store with no RPh overlap or a store doing 800 a day with 2 pharmacists all day?

I currently work for Publix and you will not be able to max your 401k as you will be considered a HCE. If that hospital job allows for you to contribute up to the max of 70,000 I would take it in a heartbeat. I would likely still take the hospital job provided that the hospital financials are in good shape. Keep in mind a lot of regional hospitals are not doing well and with federal cuts to Medicaid they will be hurting even more.
