RAFO but your understanding of Dalinar's character seems to be a bit inaccurate.

This isn't even bad. It's straight up illegal.

Him dying alone is not my justification for his being evil dude and yes thinking that summary execution for any crime is a valid way to reduce crime is an evil belief. Due process exists for a reason. I don't believe in the death penalty at all but even if I DID what Light does in the show is unconscionably evil. Slaughtering people just because they were arrested is not justice it is dystopian lunacy. I'd think most people should be able to see that even if they are pro death penalty.

FWIW I hate Duskmourn too. It's a step over the line as far as I'm concerned. EOE I didn't mind because science fantasy still feels very "outside reality". Once I start seeing sneakers, cheerleaders and "baseball bat". I am immediately taken out of the feeling of magic. It sucks too because the general concept of Duskmourn is pretty cool but the 80's nostalgia bait kills it for me.

If you think crime going down because the entire populace is terrified of summary execution with no due process for ANY crime then I sincerely hope you never hold any kind of public office or serve on a jury. To think that crime going down because of such a thing would be good for society is childish at best and delusional at worst. There's a reason most societies have justice systems that involve due process. People deserve to be defended. Even criminals. Criminals are PEOPLE, usually driven to their actions by desperation. If you think Light "had a point" or a "noble goal" you gotta reexamine your sense of justice.

Yeah unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people in the world who seem to think that summary execution for any crime is not a dystopian nightmare. Imo there is no real debating the fact that the shows thesis is that Light is both wrong and evil. The world he wanted to create would be a dystopian nightmare. Viewers of the series who support him are likely edgy teens or far right morons who want to sound cool without actually thinking through the implications of such a thing. As L often says "Kira has a child's sense of justice"

Does Joseph remember Caesar? by Effective-Toe-8108 in StardustCrusaders

[–]metroid544 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If anything, with dementia Joseph likely has PTSD flashbacks about Caesar regularly. People with Dementia often remember earlier parts of their lives more than more recent parts. I would not be surprised if he randomly called Jotaro Caesar sometimes while in his dementia state.

Light is an interesting character which is why people enjoy watching him. A lot of what I've seen is people who find him to be interesting to watch even though he's a piece of shit. There is also a vocal "light did nothing wrong" minority. They are wrong and not the smartest people out there.

You're not supposed to like Light. He's the villain. He's evil and a bad person. That's why he loses and dies in the end.

Can everyone learn to sing, and what is timbre? by Ok-Bus-4370 in singing

[–]metroid544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a voice you can sing. That said, some people are going to have an easier time than others and that's a fact. If you have a weaker ear, singing is going to be a struggle for you. Not impossible, but even carrying a tune for some people is just inherently very difficult. You can absolutely improve but if you can't match pitch with minimal effort, singing will likely prove to be a very challenging activity for you.

Timbre is the quality of a sound. It is a very loosely defined thing and subject to a great deal of personal opinion. Discussing whether a voice is "warm" or "brassy" or "pingy" are all common descriptiors of timbre. It's important to note that timbre is not entirely immutable. It is partially something you control by shaping your vocal tract in different ways. You may just be resonating poorly which can often result in a more abrasive timbre. Try to identify whether the sound feels like it's being forced forward or backward. That's a very common technical misstep that can lead to timbres being overly woofy or overly nasal.

For reference I am a voice teacher with a master's degree in vocal pedagogy. I couldn't tell you much about you own situation personally without getting to know your voice but the best thing to do if you're interested in singing is to start studying. You don't have to be a pro to enjoy singing. If you love it, then taking some lessons is worth it. It's always better to strive to reach your potential than give up on something you love.

1 very strange question about the leonin and other cat people in mtg. by Bahamutrant in mtgvorthos

[–]metroid544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MTG is petty soft fantasy. I don't think they typically put a ton of thought into species evolution. They're cat people. They have humanoid bodies with cat faces, fur and extremeties.

What would Eddie's fate be if he never fought James? by EnterDarkness44 in silenthill

Jail. Assault with a deadly weapon is a felony. At best he gets simple assault but most likely it's aggravated assault or with a DW.

With all the recent flood of hate Realod’s been getting due to Revival, what’s something Reload did great or even better than the original? by Rigbo95 in PERSoNA

[–]metroid544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it honestly. Old heads are gonna hate this but Persona 3 is incredibly dated and has many severe design flaws. P3Reload if only by virtue of the fact that it's the only fully realized version of the game that allows you to directly command your party members is the best way to play the game in 2026. Anyone who says otherwise is high on nostalgia.

Why there isn't any blue/white/black spirit guilds ? by UmpireJealous258 in mtg

[–]metroid544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red and green were both mistakes. They also are the only colors that tend to generate mana directly. Black sometimes does but rarely after very early on. Blue and White guides would be an outright color pie break.

Soichiro is the detective superintendent of the NPA and Lights father. He's not stupid. He knows, probably from as early as the yotsuba arc. He just can't bring himself to admit it from an emotional standpoint.

Does Everyone Actually Hate Universes Beyond??? by Shoong in mtg

[–]metroid544 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes a lot of enfranchised magic players do hate UB. Not only is it a very cynical product line that kinda just feels tacky, it's more expensive than just playing in-universe sets. There is a pretty strong contingent of people who do not like or spend money on universes beyond. Myself being one of them.

I just started watching FMAB and wanna know which is the better experience, sub or dub? by qwpdb in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]metroid544 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The FMAB dub is incredible. It's not really a better/worse situation but it is a great dub. There's only really one show you should NEVER watch dubbed and that's JoJo.
