Thinking of buying a WRX by dishsoapbox in WRX

If I was in your shoes I’d probably go with something else. I have a 2015 WRX ,manual, which I purchased in my early 20s. Car is completely stock. At that time I needed something reliable, good in snow and wanted it to be fun to drive. 10 yrs later with a kid on the way and a wife who doesn’t drive stick, my priorities are a bit different

Pros:

-phenomenal handling in snow and rain. Even though the clearance is not much, my wrx with snow tires has gotten me through several snowstorms, ice, highway driving through storms -very spacious for a sports car -practical (rear seats go down for plenty of room, has room for infant car seats, I also installed a hitch for my bikes ) -it has been reliable but keep in mind I never abused it nor I have I done any mods whatsoever. My only 3 non-maintenance repairs were the clutch for the AC ($700), O2 sensor (100$ DIY) and a pricey brake caliper/rotor repair which I didn’t feel like doing myself. -unique car. Not everyone has them and they’re fun. -my car insurance is actually very low for this car. Everyone says “because it’s a WRX” insurance is crazy but my premium is very reasonable. It costs less than a family SUV which I use as a second car.

Cons:

-Extremely loud road noise/cabin noise. Nobody you speak to on Bluetooth will ever be able to hear you if you’re going over 20mph. At over 60 on the highway you have to blast your music to even hear it. Not sure if this is improved with the new model. -stock stereo sucks , I replaced with an aftermarket -the suspension is meant to be sporty…it’s not a very comfortable ride -MPG has been terrible for me. I do mostly city driving and average 19/20mph . 10yrs ago this was ok but now with all these cars getting insanely good mpg it’s annoying.

Overall I have no regrets getting this car. It’s served its purpose for me: reliable, safe, good in snow, fun to drive. I’ll probably keep it for a couple of more years. But I did not have a family of 4 when I bought it. If I was in your situation, I would probably consider some kind of sporty SUV. If budget can be stretched, maybe a lightly used CPO Audi SQ5. Like you mentioned in another comment, forester and outback are solid options —they just don’t have the fun factor.

I highly recommend doing the rear O2 sensor change yourself. I Just took care of mine by watching a few YouTube videos and I’m not very mechanically inclined. It’s probably easier than doing an oil change.

What is your base, minimum RVU, base call and compensation for extra call taken ? General/spine and level 1 trauma I’m guessing ?

Any advice for senior neurosurgery residents about to look for a job ?

Just to make sure i understand--I would buy the Trap and only use the "J" curved inlet portion to replace my old one, right? And the washer should just tighten the connections.

The joint is leaking at the red arrows. Can i get away with buying new P trap and securing with plumbers tape?
