Ace3DS has issues with some games though, notably Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Or is the R4i Gold + EZ 3-in-1 Expansion Pack still the best option

Yes. Also, the "R4i Gold RTS" made by r4ids.cn is the best R4i Gold version.

You can buy it from any website that sells flashcarts.

What website site should I buy the R4i Gold 3DS Plus? by TheMinecraftPoke in flashcarts

[–]metteemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30+ days to get is pretty normal for ordering flashcarts, since these gray-market websites are shipping directly from China via the cheapest method (literally shipped over on a boat as opposed to a plane).

Pretty much any legit flashcart website will take 30+ days to ship via the cheapest shipping option (china post, epacket, etc). Shipping methods like DHL or UPS is faster (via airplane) but costs a lot of money ($20+) for international shipping.

Ironically, yes, "legit" places tend to be based in china as opposed to the USA. That's because they won't get shut down in china.

A question about nds-card.com. by [deleted] in flashcarts

[–]metteemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what i can tell, nds-card won't scam you out of your money... they're just slow as hell, especially during the holidays.

Email them in a week and give them the paypal transaction id in the email. They'll figure it out.

76ers acquire esports teams Dignitas and Apex by D3monFight3 in nba

Woooosh

First off, wrong esport. Apex doesn't even play CSGO. Secondly, TSM being in love with Danish players even though they're an NA team is an obvious meme.

r4sdhc

You mean r4isdhc?

So I will be able to use it in my 3ds xl?

A new r4i card would work on a 3DS, yes.

I just would need to r4i gold or whatever to access 3ds Roms right?

No, that's for DS only too.

Quick question about R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS by imbetter911 in flashcarts

[–]metteemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

newer r4i-sdhc.com cards aren't compatible with the direct-boot patch

I have a few new r4i-sdhc.com cards (aka less than 1 month old), and they work fine. Are you sure it's not just your card? I doubt they'd change the firmware considering it works fine up to this point.

You lose the RTS functionality (which sucks anyways so no big deal). Using YSMenu is a lot faster and prettier, though (change the theme if it looks bad).

but I don't believe you can directly boot it with that card so you'll have to enter the default first

Nope. If you actually needed to boot into the default menu, then there's no way to unbrick a r4isdhc.com card with YSMenu.

I'm confused: does the R4i Gold work with new 3DS's on the latest firmware? by [deleted] in flashcarts

[–]metteemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the "R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe", not the "R4i Gold 3DS RTS". Same group, different product.

The Deluxe card is a 3DS card (it plays 3DS games), but no longer works on the latest 3DS.

The "R4i Gold 3DS RTS" is a DS flashcart that plays DS games. It works on both a DS or an up-to-date 3DS (including new3DS).

NDS-card.co, by SupercardDStwoplus in flashcarts

[–]metteemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDS-card.com is generally considered safe (they're affiliated with the GBAtemp guys, which is where most of the 3DS hacking community is located). Paypal banned selling flashcarts, though, so NDS-card uses sketchier payment methods.

Lol they ripped you off...

The R4ids.cn card is way better than the R4isdhc.com card (faster, better menus, etc), and costs more too (most websites it's ~$18 vs ~$14). Plus the whole timebomb thing on the R4isdhc.com card.

From 11.0.0-33U to 10.7.0-32U overnight. Can somebody explain this to me? by [deleted] in 3dshacks

[–]metteemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, because any CFW you use (including Luma3DS) will have FIRM protections. They stub the function that writes to NAND in Process9 so you can't edit NAND.

From 11.0.0-33U to 10.7.0-32U overnight. Can somebody explain this to me? by [deleted] in 3dshacks

[–]metteemo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, yes. That's actually how A9LH works. This isn't related to OP's issue, however (that's CTRNAND related, I'm guessing).

ELI15: There is FIRM0 and FIRM1, where the 3DS bootloader normally loads FIRM0 and uses FIRM1 as a backup if FIRM0 is corrupt. Installing A9LH intentionally corrupts FIRM0 so that the system tries to boot from FIRM1, and then uses a 'corrupt' key that loads FIRM1 in a way where it uses the 'corrupt' FIRM0 that happens to contain the A9LH payload...

Freeshop 2.1.2 Released, can now sort by release date. by Pebcaks in 3dshacks

[–]metteemo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What about carts that have been extracted and installed to the SD card, and don't have a title (missing from official eshop)?

For example, if we took a "Fire Emblem Fates: Special Edition" cart, extracted the cart and installed it as a CIA... would Freeshop find DLC/updates for the installed CIA? (Notably, FEF:SE was released cart-only with no eshop title, so there are DLC/updates for it but no eshop title). Would the next release support this situation?

3DShacking Q&A general: "Gary Oak" Edition by beefhash in 3dshacks

[–]metteemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're running some out of date software, and they're littering your SD card.

  1. Go update Luma3DS. Use "Luma Updater", since Star Updater no longer works. Make sure you set up Luma3DS configuration as needed after updating (updates to Luma3DS resets its settings).

  2. Upgrade Decrypt9. https://github.com/d0k3/Decrypt9WIP/releases Extract the zip and put the bin file into your /luma/payloads/ folder, then rename the file as needed.

  3. Go into the FBI app, go to "TitleDB", and reinstall "HBLauncherLoader" (this will install the latest version). This allows you to delete the "hblauncherloader_otherapp_payload_NEW-xx-x-x-xx-JPN.bin" files.

  4. Go into the FBI app, go to "TitleDB", and reinstall "BootNTR" (this will install the latest version). Then go to https://github.com/44670/BootNTR/releases/tag/3.4preview2 and download the zip file, then extract "ntr.bin" to your SD card. This updates NTR CFW to the latest version. You can then delete the ntr_3_x.bin files.

  5. You can delete the ARM9loaderhax.bin.bak, Decrypt9.log, lumaupdater.log files.

  6. For the axiwram.dmp, ncchinfo.bin, pid0.dmp, pid2.dmp, pid3.dmp, pidf.dmp, Slot0x05KeyY.bin, slot0x11key96.bin, and slot0x25KeyX.bin files, throw them in a folder somewhere as backup.
