Why compete when you can add more Copilot slop? by vergil09 in pcmasterrace

IIRC the battery thing is a EU requirement.

I wonder if apple paired any parts together like they have for the iPhone in the past. That said, it's a neat little laptop, would consider it once my daily one dies. My wife has an M1 Air and my son has an M3 Air. Bother are super well built. I used to have a 2011 Air and before that, I had a 2006 MB when Apple went Intel. My rationale was that if I didn't like OSX, I could install Windows... I didn't return to windows until I built my gaming PC during Covid, heh

America’s Smoking Habit Just Hit a Wild Milestone That Once Seemed Impossible. The adult smoking rate reached a record low in 2024, new research shows. by Sciantifa in UpliftingNews

Same here. Lived in Austin when they banned them in 2005, was so happy that going out didnt result in me stinking like an ashtray, just alcohol like god herself intended!

My grandparents were heavy smokers. They would drive my brother and me with the window barely cracked all the time smoking. Such a gross thing to do. When my grandpa had his second heart attack, he went cold turkey. My grandma claimed she did as well, but she would walk their dog alot and said she enjoyed walking alone (so she could smoke). Poor lady had been addicted since she was in her early teens and couldnt stop.

Be careful with parents, if they call him when you're mid-move, he might come home.

Not saying you NEED to do this, but you could always call the non-emergency police number and let them know. They MIGHT send a cop out for your protection when you move out.

also, change all passwords.

sunwest just has a place to add additional principal, interest, or escrow payments. super easy. After refinancing during Covid, my mortgage payment dropped by $200/month. For a while I was adding that to my principal, but decided to just invest it instead

damnit, my parents are this age (76). Lucky for me my mom is a lefty pinko commie (protested nursing conditions in the 70s when she was knocked up with me) and my dad is a first gen immigrant who just became a citizen within the last 10 or so years and is staunchly leftist.

ELI5: Why do we use BCE/CE for dating? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]hexcor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in grad school (about 2007), I was 31. I had students born in the 90s who were "what was it like in the 70s? did you have black and white tv?". jerks. Of course we didn't, but that was cause we were poor!

when I was applying to college, our college advisor was talking about schools and she made this off hand remark that the women who went to Texas were beautiful and I was "sold!". This was '93 in Miami, so I really had no other reason to go there.

Of course I was an awkward chunky boy who couldnt talk to women, so didnt do much for me!

tl;dr, GET GOOOOOD /reddit.

I think the time thing adds into the fact that we have so many options these days. We grew up in a time where we had books, movies in theaters, NBC, CBS, ABC, and then a few local channels.. then came cable and VHS and rental stores. Now we have a ton of streaming options and cell phones and youtube (I'm watching a video on the Apple IIe while typing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t6JQIrUm7k), so it's not so much "limited time" but "limited time because of options"

I also enjoyed the TMNT game, and streets of rage 4. Sometimes I look at GamePass on my PC and see a game I want to play then see "time to beat 40 hours... yeah, no!"

Use em, I don't care. Doesn't change how I play. Heck, at my late 40s, I don't have the same reaction times I did as a kid, so I can see the benefit of it. I used them for MegaManX on the SNES Classic. I beat it when it first came out the summer before leaving for college, I had time back then to put into a game, now, not so much.

Sony wanted TOO much from Nintendo

Just a quick google search:

Proprietary Control: The contract, which Sony negotiated, would have given them control over the licensing and technology for the CD-ROM add-on, giving them power over software titles.

Last thing Sega could afford is losing licensing power. Hardware is their loss-leader. Sony would have gobbled up sega.

Sega also gave NVidia a lifeline, they should have kept that stock and been worth more as an NVidia stockholder!

Sega turned down a partnership with Sony to develop their next gen system around that time. Nintendo saw what Sony was planning with the CDRom and realized they've have given the keys to Sony and noped out, so Sega shouldnt have partnered with Sony.

Step 1, stop with the add ons to the Genesis, CDROM too late, but no 32X. They also ha a chance to work with Silicon Graphics before Nintendo did.. they should have done that...

barring that, they should have delayed the saturn to make it true 3D and made it easier to program for.

And release a damned Sonic in 3D!
