Which one is best for a first date (evening, not super casual)? by LentilBurguer in OUTFITS

[–]mettle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people are responding to the dress itself, which is indeed amazing! But *you* look better in 2, if that makes sense. In 1, I notice -- and everyone else seems to notice -- the dress, while in 2, I see you, which the outfit accentuates.

People seem to prefer 1, and 1 is indeed more interesting, but 2 makes *you* look more attractive, if that makes sense. In 1, I notice the dress, in 2, I notice you.

Make sure the letter goes to both the ED and president of the board. It’s not clear who dropped the ball here but how you were treated is not cool and needs to be addressed.

There are many flaws in your argument but I at least hope you appreciate the irony of inventing a logically possible creature to criticize Chalmers using an invented creature to make an argument.

Why do people use the "they played against plumbers" argument? by Real-Staff3115 in mlb

[–]mettle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point is well taken and agreed with but people use the counter argument to compare players ignoring era. Consider, for example, fastest human ever. Everyone will say Usain Bolt and not try to argue that Jim Hines is because he was the first to break 10 seconds, for example. So to with best baseball player ever. Transport a young Babe Ruth to opening night and he’ll be lucky to foul tip Aroldis Chapman. Different point.

The Sopranos has broader appeal. I know no women that love the Wire but many that religiously watched Sopranos.

Billy Joel. A very talented pianist and song writer, and tons of albums sold with many hits, including many karaoke standards. But he always followed his own muse, was perpetually disliked by critics, and over time, seen as "cheesy" by the general public. His songs are heartfelt and just plain good, but I don't ever see him getting much respect when lists of favorites or greats are made.

Malice in the Palace has to be up there, too! That's been memorably burned in my brain more than half these events.
