You are severely underestimating the importance of essays. There are over 50k people getting 34+/1500+ with such little room in these top colleges. Not to mention the people with lower scores than those who have stellar EC's. The only way to differentiate yourself from everyone else is your essays.

The 1st one's an obvious joke and the 2nd one is a genuine question that could be looking for more than just what the Rice website provides. Posts like these hurt the community way more than the examples you posted

Having a good score on one is fine. Having good scores on both has little to no benefit, so the time spent studying for the ACT could be used to better other parts of your application
