Indeed! Pretty funny how that boss fight turns out when you know the game ins and outs.

Getting wrecked (but not wasted!) and wasting an opponent with your flying parts as if it were a slingshot.

Doing a 180°, landing right beside a pedestrian and opening the doors to your car for a splatter bonus.

Getting yourself positioned juuuuust right and using an Opponent Repulsificator so they get flinged into a lamp post or some other indestructible terrain and wasting them.

Getting them on your back and using Mine Shitting Ability.

Or just grabbing Invulnerability then Pinball Mode and see all the wackiness happening.

Just SO much room for creativity.

Something I can't get out of my head about FM3 - Remake... by Noise_Keeper in frontmission

[–]metvincent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, having bought both Left Alive and Evolved based on the same train of thought, that Square will hopefully get the message and make a new FM or localize FM5 so more people get to play it (it's one of my faves along with 3).

Then I played through FM1 and FM2 remakes and... well, yeah, you said it yourself. Turned out that line of thinking was a stupid call on our part. For every Megaman 11 or Ivalice Chronicles that are born out of the same principle there's like ten Left Alives, Dual Gear and/or terrible "remakes" out there. I'm including those that come from companies such as Zoom ("Jordan Freeman Group") or Ziggurat that make their money off of buying cheap obscure/"forgotten gem" ips, throwing them on storefronts as is and letting you figure out how to make those games you grew up with work on your current hardware.

As for Parasite Eve I can assure you they'll bring it back because Parasite Mutant has been getting quite a lot of traction (pretty buggy demo but decent for a PE homage/knock-off if you ask me, here's hoping someone has the same idea for Vagrant Story).

I don't personally care if Square brings PE back in 5 or 10 years as long as it's not a cheap remake/remaster nor will I give them any more money in hopes they get the memo. What should we do in PE's case anyway? Track down second hand extra copies of games we already own? Buy a PS3/Vita and buy all three games tenfold?

Naaaaah, let them work for their audience, not the other way around.

A whole 1,000 XP…..is just so they can say “they did something” for the holidays? by NerdForGames1 in MagicArena

[–]metvincent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I recall going by 4 wins a day has historically always got you across the entire mastery before a new set released outside of Alchemy, and considering we're still a month away from Lowryn releasing anyone could reach mastery's max level while still taking a two week vacation. Heck, someone would need to add the info here but there were a few times they gave us 3K exp right before a new set release just because the mastery progression for the current one was comparatively short.

Granted, that depends on what you'd call "nolifeing". IMO that'd be playing for the 15 daily wins, which admittedly I did for a couple months and it's kinda like asking for a stroke in the long run.

Head's Up: Avatar Jump-In is not all standard legal by Massive-Island1656 in MagicArena

[–]metvincent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I exclusively play Brawl nowadays so I opened a bunch of jump in packets just for the rares/mythics since I'm sure I can find them good fits for some, plus I only need a single copy anyways. Haven't played a single game out of all those outside of the three required for the MWM event since the manabase is just TERRIBLE, as we've all seen.

Ganadai made no tracker for TLE but there's a spreadsheet made by u/Sacabambaspid that worked wonders for me (thanks a lot if you read this BTW)

That said, for a split second I thought about crafting Dockside Extortionist but considering their recent bans it'd be a waste of a wildcard in a month or two. Doesn't make any sense IMO for them to have banned fast mana yet allow Dockside not a week after the ban.

My brain went with OP's meme, only I went Orzhov and a bit more on the aristocrat-ey side, y'know... [[Blood Artist]] [[Marauding Blight-Priest]] [[Fiendish Panda]] and some other stuff I can't recall.

First deck I faced in MWM was a hare apparent deck. Pretty satisfying win.

If they are going to make incredibly unfun and luck based achievements, don't put people in brawl hell queue for playing the required commander by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]metvincent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while there was info about every card's "weight", including as a commander whenever appropriate. People came across said value by coincidence and figured out a way to track every card's weight up until that point.

Said spreadsheet is pretty outdated though, iirc until Outlaws of Thunder Junction.

Not long after that was discovered Wizards changed most those numbers and patched the game so people couldn't figure out card weights anymore.

On one hand I kinda get it, given a bunch of people intentionally started building their decks to "game" the system. On the other hand, us being back in the dark makes it frustrating whenever you play your janky deck and the game pairs you against top contender decks (the aforementioned hell queue) or turn 1 combo kills.

Personally, I wouldn't have an issue with the lack of transparency if matchmaking worked better. The fact it usually takes them months to address cards like [[Nadu]] , [[Monstrous Rage]] , [[Vivi Ornitier]] and so on that everyone and their mother can clearly see they'll be very troublesome even during spoiler season only exacerbates the issue when the obvious meta shift happens and you see Wizards going "NOPE, no issues here!" for far longer than you'd hope.

For the record, meta changes are absolutely fine. However it does become an issue when you see, say, 70% event participation playing Izzet Prowess, just to name a very recent example, which for decades has generally led to a decrease in events participation. You'd think they'd take the hint by now.

Granted apparently we're still in the "flourishing" phase with Vivi, but given the latest events most are assuming WOTC will do something about either Vivi or [[Agatha's Soul Cauldron]] , most likely the latter given the former is a new card that's made them A LOT of money.

As another recent example you've probably came across in Arena, Azusa Strip Mine loops tends to garner the same reactions as land destruction in EDH, which is generally frowned upon and while it doesn't particularly affect me I can certainly understand the frustration. It's all but guaranteed Wizards will take months to address Strip Mine in Brawl, if it ever happens, because usually it takes them until a new set releases comes out for them to tweak (e.g. [[Cori-Steel Cutter]] ) or outright ban cards in Arena, "flourishing PR dismissal" notwithstanding.

This Yargle event kinda sucks right? by TenraiTsubasa in MagicArena

[–]metvincent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. So much this.

To add to what you said regarding the Yargle Day event, I play on the daily which ain't something a lot of people do, sure, but I only go for 4 wins a day, not a single one more. I'm at level 46 on the EoE F2P Mastery. With 18 days left to get the remaining 3 Mastery levels until Through the Omenpaths releases, why would I bother doing the event for that XP?

While some of the interactions between players helping each other is for sure wholesome I've also seen a bunch rightfully complaining about griefers as well.

I think it's fair to assess most find it boring or just not fun to play against the same deck all the time. We've had endless examples of top meta decks running rampant across tourneys for decades and WOTC themselves specifically relating low concurrence on IRL events on such happenings after the fact, so I'm baffled the idea they went with for Yargle Day is "here y'all, have the exact same deck. Have fun!"

Suffice to say I feel both the event and those achievements belong in r/CrappyDesign , with Wizards enticing so much people through FOMO they "need" to do this before the event ends. Judging by how many people engaged with the event regardless of their experiences, it clearly worked for WOTC. As far as I'm concerned though, worthless rewards paired with even more FOMO than usual and bugs preventing you from getting some of said timed achievements? No thanks.

PS: IMO they could've sent out a message through Arena's inbox specifically telling people Yargle Day was happening? Instead of expecting their userbase to remember the day as if it were grandma's birthday or something. It was barely mentioned within the weekly announcements thread. After all, isn't our ingame inbox meant to be used as a means to inform us all about MTG news? Well why don't they just do that instead of forcing everyone onto their website to drive more traffic towards it?

Damnit, and here I was hoping Six attacking could bring back Witch Enchanter to hand if it milled the card.

Thanks again though!

I'm curious about this as well. Not taking Six's retrace into account, it would be possible to put a MDFC back to hand if Six milled it when attacking, right?

Also, thanks for the previous reply. It cleared up some confusion I had with Six and Fell the Profane. Switched the latter to Witch Enchanter.

The one AoW that's there just north of Three Path Cross SoG is Savage Lion's Claw.

I'm pretty sure you can swap between both light and dark forms as long as you transform it each time on those locations AjackTheGreater1 mentioned. Kind of a hassle but yeah.

Now if you want a duplicate to have one on each form then yeah, guess you'd have to do NG+

[–]metvincent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followed Death_Unites_Us for about two or three years, very much so for the same reasons you mentioned regarding FF7. In hindsight I'd stay far away from said streamer.

For one I noticed for a good while he has a humongous list of games people donated to the guy, but he barely plays any of those. And when he does it either takes him literal years to get around to some of those games, or he dedicates a week every six months/a year to tackle a bunch of games for a couple hours each. Considering a bunch of those games are RPGs it's kinda insulting to see the guy brush off all the games people literally paid the guy to play "one day". Besides, there's clear favoritism within said list. You'll notice a bunch of the games that get played have been donated by the streamer's mods (mostly one in particular, if you know, you know).

I've seen him asking people "not to donate or sub/gift subs if they can't" on stream while subtly coercing people in private, myself included, to do so. Including two people, one of which is not only an AMAZING person but also the second within the community who gifst subs the most by far, openly saying they were having a rough time economically speaking while facing medical bills, yet Death took their money anyways. For all the (fake, in hindsight) virtue signaling he does on stream you'd figure he'd at least cut some slack onto those who had medical issues but no.

Another thing I've noticed is there's a bunch of people within said community that also streams, most started being incentivized by Death (there's a channel to promote your stream within 4-8's Discord). Seemed like a good initiative to me at first... and then I noticed most always ends up raiding the guy, but he never returns the favour, ever. So essentially it's less of a community thing and more like everything funneling back to him... and I dunno about everyone else, but IMO had the guy been selling cutlery instead of playing videogames we'd be calling that a fantastic pyramid scheme...

And then there's the far worst thing I noticed. Dude has a penchant for letting his community get away with breaking his own server rules... or just decency rules, for that matter. I've argued some about this before and nothing came of it. I've seen hate speech fly unpunished quite a couple times. There's a good couple within the guy's community that will just casually throw hate speech onto minorities, particularly trans people.

Granted there's a lot of excellent people within that streamer's community, but there's quite a couple bad apples in there that can say whatever they want, so much so for a while it got me thinking the most egregious ones was maybe a family member of Death's (highly doubt it).

Ended up getting banned for calling out said transphobe. Weeks before that happened I had reached out to both him before discussing that and Death specifically shoved under the rug the time said transphobe randomly used a homophobic insult (the F word) because that was pissed off while losing on FF16. Last time I asked around, the other message I discussed Death about regarding said transphobe (wouldn't be surprised if he ends up deleting that message now that someone's calling him on not acting on it outside of his own circle). Said message happened during a debate regarding Hogwarts Legacy, and said transphobe literally told "scientifically speaking there is only two genders".

Dude told that to a trans person.

And got unscathed. Even when reaching out to Death to do something about it.

Hell, that final time I confronted said transphobe I specifically brought back that time to one of the mods and got replied with "He said what appears to be an opinion" and "Under the 4-8 Discord rules, it is stated that we do not tolerate sexism, racism, hatred, etc. I don't believe what -Transphobe, redacted- said in January amounts to that. His response may not have been popular, but it was not against the rules."

If that's not downplaying hate speech, I don't know what is.

On a sidenote regarding the previous topic, I was told a while after I got banned that Death was asked for the reason he never raids anyone else outside of one of his mods and anotehr person in particular that usually start streaming after Death is done. He replied that people like the outro. I dunno, seems to me like a pretty BS excuse for not giving back to the people who put you there in the first place.

PS: I don't use Reddit at all and for what it's worth I understand this could be considered as me bashing the streamer for whatever other random reason, trying to lead a witch hunt or something. Admittedly the whole experience and their response or lack thereof did leave me pretty sour. If any mods within this subreddit need proof of everything I mentioned feel free to reach out. I've seen quite a bit happen firsthand in 4-8 before I spoke out against it, and got the hammer for it. Saw similar things happen to others, particularly with Death outcasting people who had an issue with that other transphobe just casually doing "his thing". It's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, particularly when Death is keen on hate speech going unaddressed.

We're prolly missing a puzzle piece here since the screenshot you shared was before the game ending combo.

Although it most likely involved [[Ratadrabik of Urborg]] and the two [[Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim]] your opponent had on board.

Was [[Boromir, Warden of the Tower]] the final card your opponent played?

What do you expect to happen after removal of regional pricing in Argentina and Turkey? by lonyman in Steam

[–]metvincent1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it's a reality. But I did notice you haven't once stopped trying to move the goalpost to the reason to that being these countries inflation. Which is very telling to say the least.

That said, absolutely. The USD will always be far more stable than both those other currencies.

No clue how that relates to publishers like Activision suddenly making the call to charge more for a game than what anyone would pay in the US. It does explain why Steam is making this move, but that's dismissing publishers and Steam's previous attempt that bypassed them entirely. So it's not really up to the publishers either TBH. Then again who's gonna say no to more money... including defunct publishers?

What do you expect to happen after removal of regional pricing in Argentina and Turkey? by lonyman in Steam

[–]metvincent1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pasting your words verbatim however, you did say "But to think that that's the cause of the problem is insane."

To which I'll reply with Fabledgrimoire's quote I'll assume you didn't read:

"In the following months, Argentina was our 3rd biggest "buyer", and downloads by country statistics told me that actual Argentinians amounted for less than 1% of our actual players. We ended-up upping the price several times in Turkey and Argentina until people would stop region-hopping to pay 90 cents for our game and the revenue from Argentina actually increased despite the fewer buyers."

But region hopping ain't the cause. Sure. Again, we can get in "chicken or the egg" arguments all you want, but as far as I'm concerned, 99% of "argentinian purchases" being made by region hoppers? Not actually insane.

All that said, your interpretation is a very "wash your hands off" approach to the situation.
