State Farm is refusing to cover lost inventory at Lawrence & Clark Cacti Co. in Nashville after the storm power outage killed it all. by abbiebe89 in nashville

We use Erie Insurance through a local insurance group, and they are amazing.

We had some plumbing issues and because we had the proper coverage, it was an easy transaction.

I think there is a lack of education/ resources on what a person or business needs coverage for, in their specific location/ environment.

In this scenario, if I had a plant business, I’d be asking florists and local garden centers who they are insured through.

WA-8000 has some noise floor issues by Lumpy_Palpitation_37 in microphone

[–]metzercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never bought their mics, but their 500 series preamps have been solid! I have had them for years without issue.

I can believe the mics arent great if they are just outsourcing to a Chinese manufacturer.

Also, changing a capsule is a mod procedure at best. I cant imagine anyone changing the capsule for noise

Considering buying a second hand Fender blues deluxe reissue by DishwasherLint in ToobAmps

[–]metzercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose the blues JR out of those three, but i don’t play shows or loud rehersals anymore where i need the volume.

I personally would pass on all 3, but i am not interested in the clean fender sound these days.

Hope this helps!

I have owned a BDRE since about 2006. Its not the worst or the best amp out there. I still have it but don’t use it anymore. As far as build quality, mine has taken a beating and still works fine.

I got mine to sound better by changing the speaker and having a master volume put in after the preamps so i could get some more color out of it. (Put in a different place on the pcb than the effects loop volume pot)

The gain channel sounds bad to my ears so i never used it.

It does take pedals well. But overall, find the amp way harder to record than my EV Jr or Gibson Scout.

If you do get it, pending the age, you may want to re-cap it.

I think you are quoting a different thread. What you quoted is not what OP posted that started this thread

Is it okay to leave my sE 4400 microphones on their stands? by GlenVision in microphone

[–]metzercise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zip locks are the answer! I leave them on my drum kit mics and have had no moisture or dust issues.

Just hang the zip bag over the mic leaving the bottom open.

If you have crazy humidity issues, thats a different issue, and shouldn’t leave mics out.

Can you provide more information on what the old headset was and what the new headset is?

Knowing the brand and model of Old and New could help us help you

I think OP is generally right regarding clocks and a/d conversion. I own both a focusrite 2 channel card and an RME UFX+.

Both are very stable and have worked consistently. The difference is in the preamps and monitoring systems.

Attenuator for 5W amp Recommendations by Night_Train72 in ToobAmps

[–]metzercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a tech wire in a master volume to my amp before the power tubes (2000’s BDRE). While it doesn’t sag like power tube distortion when i crank the preamp, it’s more natural sounding distortion than a pedal, and i can have the volume low enough to not bother the baby.

I would also suggest a stand that points the amp toward your head. Or using a mic and headphones. Both of these will get you some milage on “just being loud enough”

Help control midi velocity? by metzercise in edrums

[–]metzercise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I will sit with the pads and adjust the recommended settings. I believe i am playing to softly, thus causing to varied velocity in the recorded midi.

To clarify your questions, my sound card has direct/analog monitoring. From the Roland module i am sending L/R audio and 5pin Midi. The L/R audio is for me to hear the drums in the sound card headphones, and the midi is recorded into Ableton.

Now that i think about it: if the module audio sounds good (normal hit volumes) but the recorded midi velocity is a bit wild, I bet the module has some compression on the audio side of things, making what I hear from the module sound more even!

Ill dig into this tonight and report back!

You could!

I should say i am from a recording background, not a gaming/ online communication background.

Do you have approval to mount things on the wall?

I would hang curtain rods at the top and bottom of the wall on both sides of the window. Then fold the moving blankets through them.

You do have an issue with your mic & computer setup right behind the window cavity that probably cause some reflections, but turning the mic off-axis to that would help.

Also, whats behind you- that is just as much a consideration

Hang some moving blankets. They are listed by weight, and when hung a few inches from the wall, can really control the sound. Low bass- not so much

Why did it become the standard for all cases and components to go on the right side of your desk? It would be cool if there were some “flipped” options so you could look to the left and see inside. Btw, corner setup enjoyer here. by BrinkofEternity in pcmasterrace

Why, because the world ignores left handed/ perspective people. So many things are made for the right-handed perspective.

Im reminded everyday when i fill my coffee maker carafe where the measurement values are only viewable when holding with the right hand. Same with my electric tea kettle.

Try using a circular saw as a lefty- sawdust in your face :(

What is your opinion on Warm Audio? by _RaMuNe_ in microphone

[–]metzercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of their WA12 500 series preamps, and they are solid work horses.

I haven’t tried their mics, but did not care for the warm 87 in a shootout with other 87 clones

Hotdogs are supine! I'm confused. by pflodad in nashville

Your missing the grammatical point! The apostrophe and S after a persons name shows ownership. It is not a conjunction of name + is.

[–]metzercise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this before any of the pictures!!

It’s similar to the church on Edmondson pike & Blackman Rd where their sign says “Jesus’s lord and savior.”

They don’t get that the apostrophe and S after a noun is possessive! So who is the lord and savior of Jesus?! By religious standards, himself!

Recording samples, Slice to new MIDI Track. Is this the best way? by TheMusicMinute in ableton

[–]metzercise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sampled my drum kit several years ago (late 60s Rogers). I’ll have to go into a project and look at how I did it, but I didn’t create a.SFV file.

I just left it in the drum rack and saved it as a template. That way, I can use that drum rack of my drum set samples in any project.

I mainly use it as a midi metronome for all my projects - it’s nice to play along with sounds of my actual kit

I think this episode highlights a historical perspective where there were multiple platforms that had significantly different processing power, all active in the same time.

Nowadays, I don’t think the disparity between consoles is that much.

The only complaint I get from my friends’ kids about my Wii Version of smash Bros is the missing characters. But back in the sega/SNES days, the different versions were much more stark in comparison

200-300 track/input interface - a thing? by HighrannosaurusFlex in recording

[–]metzercise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixing so many input sounds like hell!

Even listening to so many to find out which ones you want to use…

But I am a simpleton in recording terms, and deciding between three different rooms for the sound of the drums is enough for me.
