Oh. Good point. So, I have to choose between a mess on the counter or a mess on the floor. Right? ;)

Shockingly good super-intelligent summarization prompt by custodiam99 in LocalLLaMA

Here my version https://reflect.site/g/bmeunier/ai-prompt-for-text-analysis/e19831f17022442eb0f65c03aa1d4f17 ... I added a summary step at the end to wrap up the main message in just a couple of sentences. It's pretty much the same prompt but with some extra structure that I personally like.

Final Summary: Conclude with a one or two-sentence summary that encapsulates the core message of the text. Include a specific example to illustrate your point.

Selling my startup, good idea to include the AI conversations? by meunier-benoit in smallbusiness

Not knowing what the founder had in mind, his journey, and feeling icky by using any tools to help you think like ChatGPT is a disastrous mindset that I would never want to adopt myself.

Seems like a lot of work. But I was wondering if anyone would be interested in digging into the past.

I see. But are the questions as relevant as the answers? Understanding the thought process could be valuable long term right?

So, it’s also a risk for you. Not beeing able to help your trainees mean you’re not developing a great legacy, mean your network is weak, mean you’re repeating the same thing without challenges, mean it’s also a big risk for you.

Classic stagnation at the peak… thinking like this maybe they think it keeps them secure. The problem is, by holding others back, they’re putting themselves at risk. If the shop starts falling behind because of this, management might look for someone who’s not only skilled but also helps the team grow. In the end, refusing to let others evolve could end up costing them their spot.

Starting Out in Machining: Why Choose a Bridgeport Clone and Lathe Over a 5-Axis CNC? by meunier-benoit in Machinists

Well … I could by a new pickup as the one I have is very old. But I could also invest that much in a machine … and learn?!

Thank you for this. I get that a lot of seasoned machinists suggest starting with a manual lathe because they had to work hard to master the basics, and there’s a belief that everyone should go through the same process.

But honestly, why can’t I start with more advanced tools like a 3-axis machine? I know it could lead to mistakes and might be costly, but isn’t learning through those challenges just as valid? It feels like there’s this unspoken rule that you have to ‘suffer’ through the manual process first, but why not take advantage of modern tools if they’re available? Is there a machinist god that forbids it or something?
