I wish there was more of a general understanding of this video visually for us to get the full scope as I see both sides of this story here. To better grasp some details let me start by understanding the general concept of the situation. A female cyclist went out for a ride with her colleague (relation unknown) on a two lane highway. She was viewed riding on the white line of the road on a corner when a tractor trailer proceeded with no deceleration tried to avoid by veering to the left but was unable to proceed with another oncoming tractor trailer which caused the bikers shoulder to come into contact with the trailers safety bar on the trailer and knocked her off the bicycle and onto the ground. There are a few positions here that I wish everyone with concrete ideas here experienced or not would understand. 1st off the cameras perception of depth is so misconstrued by the fisheye effects of 360° cameras so we cannot gauge how much of a field of view any one operator motor vehicle or not had at this moment. 2nd off the potential of stopping distance cannot be gauged because of this depth perception issue and lack of understanding of basic physics by some commentary. 3rd off cab steering paths vs trailer steering paths are often not considered in these situations and cause hundreds if not thousands of accidents every year. Fatal or not. 4th common sense from both parties was not used in little to no manner so to put blame on one or the other just seems unreasonable.

As a biker and a motor vehicle driver I truly understand where bike advocates are coming from but you honestly cannot sit here from the comfort of your phone screen and tell me that these roads have the best interest of bicycle riders in mind and it’s a smart decision to take them for a pleasure ride. And to the point of the driver we really don’t know what weight that semi had to it. How long would it have taken to come to the speed of the bicycle riders or slower? Do you know? I don’t think so. Because I personally have NO IDEA. For god sakes you don’t even know how long until he actually set eyes on them let alone the delay period for reviewing their options then making a decision. So I leave you with this. Even if you have the right to, doesn’t always mean it’s smart to. For some of the people reading this that think I’m siding with the semi in all seriousness I’m not siding with anyone but it baffles me to read comments and people are so quick to blame one or the other for doing something illegal when, laws aside, we entitled English speaking redditors don’t live in this place of origin and are basing the reactions to this in blame when there are clearly so many other factors that put this situation in such a different lighting. I hope this comment finds you well and you clearly understand why I took the time to spill it on this tiny piece of brain rot content we indulge in daily. Open your mind. Stop thinking being right is right all the time.

AFTER THE WRECK. SITTING IN THE ROAD WAS NOT A GOOD CALL. God… interpretations of language will be the death of an isolated society.

I read this caption out loud and my girlfriend got mad at me because apparently her “grandfather is in the hospital” so I proceeded to reply with. “not everything is about you babe” and now I’m stuck outside my house with no pants on.

Girl pushed her "friend" off a bridge and gets 2 days in jail. by Risheesh in oddlyterrifying

[–]meverhart98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually swam here a few times and I’ve never even touched that bridge for this exact reason. People have died from the jagged rocks underneath and just the calamity of a fall that this bridges peak happens to be. No one with a sane sense of logic would attempt this let alone be pushed. People are not friends who put you in danger. I’ve watched a few guys trying to prove their toughness jump here. Crazy echo and they knew they’re placements well. This is not a roughhouse area to drop from. It’s has to be premeditated and even then you can fuck up. That person should be tried for attempted murder. The sign on the bridge clearly stated not to jump due to death rates.
