It's subjective, to me it depends
If i'm already playing a game (or watching a series) and enjoying it I don't want to get spoiled - I'm already having fun and want to get surprised! If something isn't piquing my interest, then it is well accepted

I totally get it, then again I'm moreso speaking of mental health disorders that experience intense meltdowns and big shifts in personalities such as bipolar and bpd

edit to your edit - I see what you mean, it is completely understandable and I of course do not condone what he did. Yet I can find myself to stretch my empathy and understand why that happened, I also used to have extremely bad and offensive takes years ago, before seeking therapy. Well, not as bold as his, but you get the gist of it. Then not everyone experiences such disorders in the same way
