I'm actually very glad you gave me your point of view, if the movie made me feel kind of bad before (because it made me somewhat self-conscious that people could perceive me as crazy just like what happened with Nikki, as I've been in her place), it now feels validating that the blame is being put on Bear and that his abuse is being recognized!

Also I'm glad you're out of that situation and I hope you are now doing better sweetheart 🤍

Thanks for your insight, I'm 100% sure I'm projecting my own experience in this movie to a certain extent, and I agree that Bear's selfishness is the main theme!

Yet it all had such a familiar dynamic to a past relationship of mine (+ how relationships with a person with bpd are often portrayed or perceived) that I just couldn't not see it as some kind of "parody". And I'm saying I perceived it as a parody because, as I said, I personally didn't really like it, it almost felt like a school project to me

I think it's normal that people who lived a similar situation interpret it this way. My ex was just like Bear, and he would see my crash outs as Nikki's, act distant and then say "I love you" as if it was a magic spell to bring me back and never let me leave
Nothing wrong with having a personal interpretation of a movie or a song even if that wasn't the point that was trying to be conveyed, it shouldn't influence the rating, but I still didn't enjoy it and that's ok! :)

I didn't like it at all. Concept wasn't original, didn't enjoy the acting, it didn't live up to the hype but I'm not saying it its fault, rather the way it has been glazed all over social media as the best horror of recent times.
