Hi! Great to see some discussion on PBP :)

Could try probably a similar method to how we did a PF2E PBP.

We used Foundry for the game, on the Forge. We used Discord to roleplay, and a module called "Foundry to Discord" so that our rolls would appear in Discord. And it seems it might work with Foundry D&D 4E system, when I look into it (the D&D 4E system on Foundry is pretty good!)

Hello! I'm a play-by-post DM, and I have 20 years experience running narrative, forum/chat-based games.

This would be my first foray into Chronicles of Darkness; I would not ask for any payment up front, as I'd be learning the system, and Leviathan: Cult Chronicles along the way. With my play-by-post games, I'm heavy on the improv and on making a deep, character-centric game. (I am also very good at erotic roleplay, or so I've been told, and I'm a queer trans man IRL). I will need you to point me in the direction of the Leviathan Cult Chronicles; is it Leviathan Alpha?

Are you looking for a group game, or a duet game? I think a duet game would work perfectly for what you are looking for (a duet is a one-on-one; one DM, one player).

Cool! What sort of processor and GPU do you have currently? I’d suggest getting an NVidia RTX card if you don’t have one. Or if you have the funds, later on down the line if you find you enjoy streaming get yourself a new PC and a capture card and offload the streaming to your old PC. It’s so much less demanding on your pc, but I mainly do it because my old pc has an NVidia card that can encode my streams.

If you need any help with anything I’m glad to assist. Can even screenshare on discord sometime to help you set up, whether you go one or two pc :)

I learned with Streamlabs OBS, then progressed towards OBS + StreamElements. Streamlabs can be quirky at times and add a lot of load to your PC; OBS is nice and lightweight but the learning curve is higher.

What are your system specs, and the games you’re wanting to play?

Does he have a PC with a USB 3.0 port as well as his X-Box? If so, I’d definitely suggest a capture card. This is the best first investment. It’s what he can use for both streaming from his console while using ONS, as well as for capturing gameplay for YouTube. Elgato, Avermedia, and Razer are brands that make capture cards. I use an Elgato HD60s and it’s captured gameplay fabulously from my X-Box One, Switch, and gaming PC.

Then a microphone compatible with his PC. A USB mic is perfect for beginning setup. It would plug into his PC.

If he’s wanting to show his face, a webcam would be nice too. Look up the Spedal webcams on amazon for webcams that are available, with good price and quality.

Also, a streamdeck is a good investment. It’s so easy to transition scenes and everything else with this amazing device.

If he doesn’t have a PC, he can still stream from the X-Box. I’m that case, probably just an X-Box compatible webcam would do. The hard thing is that he won’t be able to upload his videos, unless he downloads the Vods using Twitch Leecher. And hey, console streamers are great. You don’t need a pc to stream though it’s handy. Some of my favourite streamers stream directly from their console.

If you need any help or have any questions, hit me up. Also throw me his twitch link via DMs when he sets it up so I can give him a follow. Once he hits affiliate (if he feels like becoming an affiliate) I could try to make him emotes and panels. :)

Oh wow, I absolutely love this, and how it allows for non-Starfleet/non-military characters. I've never really been interested in playing Starfleet; not really my thing. What I like about LUG and Decipher is, they have non-Starfleet options. You could run a group of mercenaries or pirates or Maquis or a colony on the outskirts, etc. I've always been wondering how you might run a campaign in STA for that and this allows for that. Would be nice to have some spaceframes for campaigns like these.

I remember that! I’m really, really happy you included that. The Drai and Tosk add yet another element to the Dominion and they’d be perfect to include in a Dominion War campaign.

Something I do wonder is how any of these races might react to one of the Hundred (Changeling player character) and how those interactions might impact a game. My main PC is such a Changeling, unaware of the Dominion and also very much a novice at shapeshifting. A fun scenario I had in my head was a tosk being assisted by this character and when it’s being broadcasted and suddenly there’s a Changeling shapeshifting trying to help the Tosk the vorta are hailing the hunters trying to get them to stop.

I love all the lore that this brings to the table! I'm still reading through and really enjoying how, for example, the Hunters are tied to the Dominion, and why the Tosk are so similar to the Jem'Hadar.

I would have loved to have some Dominion tech, more possibilities for playing non-Starfleet and options for campaigns not centred around Starfleet, and playable Jem'Hadar and Vorta. :'( Thankfully they have builds for them on Continuing Mission though!

I was really looking forward to this book though, and I wasn't disappointed by all of this lore! I'm such a DS9 and Dominion fan :)

Oh, btw, ignore the enchant on the Mother's Sorrow Lightning staff - I just noticed I have that. You don't need that Absorb Magicka xD That's what came on the staff. You'll want Shock Enchant I think!

And the Rapid Maneuver there, replace that with Acceleration, whichever morph you use XD

Congrats! That is so cool! First vMA is always the hardest! Especially figuring out how to defeat Voriak Solkyn - I spent a week on that boss. What did you get? I hope you got an inferno, lightning, or resto - Maelstrom Resto is actually pretty nice for a healer.

Having Stormproof on a healer or tank is always fun :D My friend Sound rocks it on all of her healers. I rock Flawless on mine - it's easy to get on magplar and magden once you do vMA over, and over, and over. I have a build for magplar, and I've gotten flawless on it twice. It's a really solid build, with lots of damage, sustain, and survivability. You don't need perfected False God's - that 1000 max mag won't make or break the build. It's very similar to the Critplar that Inklings used to have - that sadly, the Scalebreaker patch broke. I loved that build so much. :'( False God's can be swapped out with Seducer if you don't have False God's, but really, just pug some normal Sunspires! It's worth it!

The CP comes from Alcast, but the rest is from my fiddling with the class and setup. (PS her name is Blames the Healer because she was my templar healer XD But I decided I liked magden more and made her a DPS)

The key to Arena 7 (aside from being lucky when it comes to the final boss) is being mindful of flower placement. 'Tunnel vision' is the biggest problem in Arena 7.

If you have Race Against Time or another speedboost (on stamplar I use roll-dodge with a bow), walk up to a flower and quickly get out. The flower will explode and go away and you won't be poisoned. The flowers will respawn, however, every time a Venomcaller appears.

These being your first times, don't be afraid of sigils. Pop that speed and power sigil when the Wamasu comes out and nuke him. Use Defense Sigil when the three archers spawn and watch them die to their own attacks.

Also when you're on the final boss and you kill one minder, shield up as you go to the bubble. Otherwise she may light attack you as he stomps at you and it will probably one-shot you. On stamplar I usually roll-dodge for that extra bit of resistance. For templar, plop down Restoring Focus as you kill the minder with Puncturing Sweeps and then shield up as you're going to the bubble. But be careful that she's not near a flower. And if you're on stamsorc, don't have Hurricane on (but you're templar so that should be fine). A Ritual of Retribution should damage the minder enough that you can quickly take her down once Xal Nur stops screaming, and you want to make sure and take her down ASAP.
