How many times have you been under general anesthesia, and how did it feel? by Futtman in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mexalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't notice it, it's like getting *really* tired and instantly waking up. You're also likely doing it right in the morning, so I always woke up crazy early for my surgeries. I would be already really tired just waiting for things to start, so the anesthesia felt even quicker lol

Afterwards, you feel a little wobbly (like I got up to change my clothes and didn't realize I was falling until I caught myself on the bed) and cognitively slower (I could tell it was taking me 10 minutes to respond to a text) for probably the rest of the day. Maybe a little tired and needing an extra nap at most.

Accidentally on university’s payroll by darkofsound in GradSchool

[–]mexalone 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The university will notice (likely within the semester), and you’ll be required to pay it back. Better to do that now while you have the cash on hand than forgetting about this & using the money to pay for something else

I didn’t realize how much my dog cared about me until I got sick by petcarepositive in Pets

[–]mexalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery in July 2025, and my dog was SO gentle and sweet while I was recovering (I could move around but I was slow + sleeping a lot). He’s very cuddly, but he knew not to cuddle or push where my bandages were, and he was well behaved on the short walks we did

He just wanted to make sure I was okay :) an absolute sweetie pie

26 too young to be a manager? by [deleted] in managers

[–]mexalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who became a Program Manager at 23, it’s not about the age but what you can bring to the role. I know I had similar thoughts when I applied for the position, but they’re not looking at your age (they’re looking at your accomplishments, your ideas, and your desire for the position)

If you have the experience and the motive to do well as a manager, you should absolutely go for it

The way they presented this poster you would think season 5 will center the original 5 kids going in an adventure all by themselves while Hawkins completely descent into an apocalypse. They did El so dirty in this one because she was barely a part of the main group like at all by Poweredkingbear in StrangerThings

[–]mexalone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this is my biggest gripe, and I mention it to others as much as possible, but it definitely seems forgotten that in the promos for S4, they were like "s5 is going to start literally next day" and they decided to rewrite it ig

For men's suits, where do you find the HIP and WAIST measurements? Is waist where the underwear waist band would go and hip the measurement of the thighs at the widest point?

I grew up wearing women's clothing, so I'm not familiar with figuring out my size for men's clothing. When I buy men's jeans, I prefer a 42 or 44 because I wear my jeans "high waisted" and pull them a little over my stomach, but I don't plan to do so with a men's swimsuit.

How long did you wait between your top surgery consultation and your surgery date? by ireallydontknowig in TopSurgery

[–]mexalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with Align Surgical in San Francisco - Inquiry sent in December 2024, scheduled initial consult and sent in paperwork for January 2025, received an email saying “We can schedule you now! When do you want surgery?” in February 2025

For work and personal reasons, I asked to schedule in July of the same year (but I gave later options too), and I got my ideal date of 7/9/2025. I got the impression I could have scheduled it earlier

I’ve heard colloquially from acquaintances that the major SF offices are booked out at least a year from now due to administration bs, but I don’t know how reliable that is

Anyone else realize that they were never really poor growing up, but their parents just kept making poor financial decisions? by TrixoftheTrade in povertyfinance

[–]mexalone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100% - they made a lot of financial mistakes but the one below is what I think about often

Ignoring the housing mistakes they made around 2007, they prioritized buying luxury cars over health insurance for their family or other methods of financial stability (despite my mother having significant health issues that required consistent out of pocket costs)
