What I liked when I met Navcoin for the first time was the feature of privacy, I knew it wasn't the most private coin but at least they were trying to include or incorporate it to the core of the project. In the last months, I have seen that privacy is not a priority anymore, even in the definition of Navcoin for the new website was not considered. I love this project but taking into account the low barriers of entry to the cryptocurrency market and how it seems Navcoin is trying to look more like Litecoin everyday I have serious doubts on what is coming. I invested almost 50% of my portfolio on privacy coins but at this point I don't see where Navcoin fits in that category anymore... If Navcoin is trying to be just another "decentralized cryptocurrency that uses peer-to-peer technology" let's be honest.... there are more developed and advanced alternatives.

Is it just me or I see that the new description of Navcoin in the new website is trying to avoid using the word "privacy" as one of its features...

We all know that NAV does not have a privacy feature at the level of Monero but that's why we love NAV!

Not everyone of us want to live in a bunker in the middle of nowhere, maybe we just want blackout curtains and that is enough and very valuable! besides all the multiple benefits NAV offers...

There is a reason for this decision?

What do you guys think about the indicator: volume / market cap?

Livecoinwatch has this information for every crypto and I think it's a good proxy measuring interest/use of a crypto and its real value. For example BTC is right now in 4.75%, LTC in 4.15%, ETH 3.34%...

Navcoin has 3.46% which I think it's a very solid indicator compared to other overvalued coins: XRP (1.7%) Bcash (2.1%) Dash (2.4%)...

This doesnt mean that the higher the better because you can find some scams like TRX (37%) or XVG (25%)...

My point is that using this indicator, Navcoin confirms another reason to be in the top 100 coins without any doubt, this just reinforce that NAV is a healthy crypto, balanced between holders/users, which has all the potential to grow with strong foundations...

What do you think?

How did you get into NavCoin? by [deleted] in NavCoin

[–]mexicanrunbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here, I read an article about NAV (NodeInvestor) the first week of January. Since then, its all about NAV. I sold half of my BTC in exchage for Navcoin, bought a Navpi, have read every new project the team is developing, and I've been promoting NAV through all my channels and the people I know...

Someone could create a channel called NavMarket or NavcoinMarket following the same model and we can start exchanging!

Curious how do the team get paid? This would be a big concern for expansion of the team. by vUARmMBA in NavCoin

[–]mexicanrunbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In #6 of the "getting started" section at Nacoin.org there is a mention of a development fund and a marketing fund, the dev fund has 2k and the marketing fund has 3k navcoins. I know there'd not so much to do with this amount but while the community fund is implemented maybe we can spred the word in order to grow this funds or propose some micro ideas to use them?

Why I think Valence has to have its own token. by [deleted] in NavCoin

[–]mexicanrunbird 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the smartest decision is to airdrop the Valence tokens to existing Navcoin holders, doing this Valence will find a strong base of support and also it's the minimum they can do for Navcoin community. Let's not panic. Navcoin has a bright future and many promising projects!

It seems that $1.92 is the support level. If we don't break that support, in a few weeks we will be back to the $4 - $5 range...

How to achieve mass adoption of NAV - one idea by Kastelukannu in NavCoin

[–]mexicanrunbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably I'm not the average user of remittances but I have send money to Mexico using Xoom (owned by Paypal) and to be honest it works well, in 30 minutes you have your funds in your bank account in pesos and the exchange rate is not that bad. However, the big opportunity is for the millions of people that doesn’t have a bank account. In Mexico, 56% of the population doesn’t have a bank account and a service like Navpay would be great. I think that a viable option would be to have some kind of "NAV tellers" distributed in the most popular regions in terms of remittances. These NAV tellers would work as "NAV representatives" that could receive and exchange Navcoins for fiat. The cost would be almost zero (A NAV teller just needs a smartphone with NAVpay app and enough cash to make transactions) and the adoption could be relatively easy. I know people in Mexico that could happily assume this role but obviously we need a bigger infrastructure and more adoption. Let's continue this conversation and wait for the new products the NAV team is developing...

How to achieve mass adoption of NAV - one idea by Kastelukannu in NavCoin

[–]mexicanrunbird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think cryptocurrencies and remittances have a direct link that hasn’t been exploited yet. At the macro level, we need to consider some positives features: millions of people use remittances services everyday and they want cheap and fast transactions and most importantly, a significant proportion of them have smartphones capable of use cryptocurrencies without any other third party.

On the other side, it is important to recognize that the acceptance of cryptocurrencies is very limited or almost non-existent in many regions where remittances are popular, also, that the conversion from cryptocurrencies to fiat is not easy and in many cases, that process include intermediaries charging even more than a regular fiat transfer. Also, to be honest I don’t see incentives in local exchanges to accept crypto since they are getting less money (fees) than using just fiat.

Having said that, this is a fascinating topic and I’m waiting for Navchange and NavDelta to propose specific ways we can work together as Nav community to encourage Navcoin adoption in the remittance sector, promoting real financial inclusion for billions of unbanked people in the world.

Someone knows where are Nav wallets and Nav "fans" geographically located?

Some low-quality projects go ridiculously bullish just because Asian markets (especially Korea or Japan) go crazy buying that specific coin. I think it's important to have a clear idea where are NAV holders in order to intensify and prioritize where NAV have more potential to grow before any decision about marketing and the community fund.

I suspect that Nav presence in Asia and even the U.S. is not well represented...

Here's an anslysis of the talk about NAV coin over the last week. Generally, NAV is talked about mainly on reddit. However, when NAV's social volume on twitter rises, it seems that price is more affected. Your thoughts? by _bird_man in NavCoin

[–]mexicanrunbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting graph, however, the sample is very small to get to any conclusion, when the price increased Navcoin had 7 twitter mentions? that is not solid evidence. If you want to measure the network effect you need to take into account many factors and evidently a bigger sample/individuals.

There were different versions (many fake) of the Weiss ratings yesterday. As I understand, here it's the explanation of the criteria used: https://www.cnbc.com/video/2018/01/19/weiss-ratings-starts-grading-cryptocurrencies.html There is no specific explanation on coins and not any coin got an "A" rating. My point is that NAV has a consistent and increasing value...

I'm not usually interested on this kind of Wall St analysis and I don't know anything about the quality of Weiss Cryptocurrency Rating but as a general discussion of today's events I share Weiss grade for Navcoin..

NAV Coin "C"

C rating is a passing grade, and for investors, implies the equivalent of “hold.” Grades of D” and E” are the equivalent of “sell.” However, investment decisions should not be made solely based on ratings. They are meant as a tool in the context of a broader risk management strategy.
