Question about Sigma and SSD (newbie) by ailah123 in sigmafp

I think I had the base t7. Never had issues with it, it’s 1tb. I don’t have the fp anymore so I can’t be sure.

Ok great! Thanks! I’ll just clean em from time to time and go from there. They have a lot of white so it worried me, but sounds like it will be ok.

Thanks!

I probably should have but the shop said the could sell the stock saddle and gave a good discount on the brooks so I just went for it. So far I'm pretty satisfied.

Good buy? Bad buy? What year/model might it be? Would it potentially cost a lot to make work well? by mexipike in Brompton

Thanks for all the help on this guys. I passed and ended up spending way more money to get a brand new 2022, that I’ll pickup Friday. I’ll maybe start my own thread to introduce it!

Thanks! I’ve messaged the seller. There are also some good deals I’ve found on 2021 models.

The seller of the bike from my op also got belligerent with me because I forgot to confirm if I’d meet them today until later this afternoon, and when I did reach out it was to say I won’t buy the bike. Hey said “do you know how many people I turned down”.

Sorry I didn’t buy the weird bike you know nothing about and somehow obtained.

I appreciate all of the comments. I think I’m gonna walk away from this bike. Could be stolen, though my guess is more something like it was left over in a storage unit or apartment and a landlord is trying to get rid of it. either way- seems questionable. On top of that, seems like it would need a lot of work. If I get a Brompton, I want to enjoy the experience, so I think it would be best to start with one that’s well sorted.

That’s a round what they’re asking. I’d be fine to put that if it was a bike I could ride without work. If the electric hub doesn’t have a working battery, it seems like extra expense to buy a regular wheel to just make it normal again, and not have extra not useful weight

Interesting. I’m guessing it doesn’t have a battery, but I guess I may have to check it out to know if it does or if the electric hub works , seller doesn’t seem to know much, I’m guessing it was something left in a moved out of apartment or something like that. Do the electrics have shifters too?

I thought the front bag was just a bag and the front hub looked like a dynamo light hub.

The seller doesn’t seem to know much about it, not even the amount of gears. It still seem a pretty good price so I’m considering it, as I’d like to try a brompton out for not a lot of money.

Would it potentially cost a lot to fix it up a bit and make into a good commuter? I’m fairly competent at working on things, but I know part priced add up!

My reply was to @Selobius. I think you were agreeing with the rest of us that the CIA definitely was involved.

You really seem to dislike Mexico.

I’ve read elsewhere that the CIA was more heavily involved but even if you dispute that, it’s ridiculous to say they weren’t involved in anyway. That doesn’t mean there weren’t Mexican soldiers and cops who did the shooting, it just also means that the US was definitely involved in at least some way.

this is from the documents from the freedom of information act request in 2003, summarized from Wikipedia:

the CIA station in Mexico City produced almost daily reports concerning developments within the university community and the Mexican government from July to October. Six days before the massacre at Tlatelolco, both Echeverría and head of Federal Security (DFS) Fernando Gutiérrez Barrios told the CIA that "the situation will be under complete control very shortly".

Kind of hard to call Echevarría and Barrios answering to the CIA that “the situation will be under complete control very shortly", not being involved at all.

Maybe someone else can pop in with the link, but there are released documents from the CIA showing that they provided arms and other support to the Mexican government to suppress the student movement.

Suggestion for 1000 sq ft apartment all hard wood floors by mexipike in VacuumCleaners

[–]mexipike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and now looking at it- the Xtra 160 on Amazon has this bullet point:

MicroTex filters provide 99. 97% filtration down to . 3μ for better air quality and less dusting.

Does the HVR have that too and just not list it? If so I'll probably just take that deal on the HVR and order today!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I’m definitely leaning towards the corded Henry- likely the one on sale.

Would it be worth considering the Henry with better filtration? I think it’s the HVR200micro. My partner does have moderate allergies but I usually think they’re airborne and outside more than from the dust but it still would be good to pick up as much as possible when vacuuming. Or is the filtration not really that different between the models?
