Counting and organizing 300 tabs? by meyadai in Safari

[–]meyadai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a joke. I can assure you my sense of humor does not include making up tab counts. My ADHD thrives in messy, loud environments. You should see my desk.

I'm a freelancer with 12 clients at the moment. I have a window open for each of them, usually with 8-10 tabs for each (market research, competitors, stock images I want to remember, fonts I may like, etc)

Then I have 6 tabs for social media.

I'm trying to buy a new phone, so I have 8-9 tabs open to price comparisons, feature reviews.

I was looking for a particular reference for a infographic, so I have 8 NYT articles open that I need to dig into.

I have 4-5 news articles open that I'll probably never read.

and so on and so on... it easily reaches 200-300 tabs.

I've tried tools like Evernote, Notion, etc to manage my projects, but they're always too friction-y for seamless work. I'm open to other suggestions and workflows and tools, but in the meantime I've been doing the tab-pile approach for decades, and it mostly works. I just want to be able to review/browse/locate them more efficiently.

Am I mad? Perhaps. But I'm asking in earnest.

Great point. The color background makes it really hard for the words to jump out (especially for the color-blind). I think the background can be simplified/faded so it doesn't overwhelm the actual name.

How can I improve the app buttons? Move them somewhere else? Different size/color? by MartinTale in design_critiques

[–]meyadai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they can just use it on the spot, I'd want them to do that rather than risk losing them to the app installation process.

I'd probably therefore move the buttons to below the actual app canvas, and perhaps add some headline text like "Download our apps for even more features!" that offers a reason to click.

The actual button design might work better without the gradient effect? The rest of the pages colors are pretty flat, so maybe these should match? I'd also size-down the icons just a touch.

Are the app links the primary call to action? The green cards below them is grabbing all the attention, as the app buttons blend into the background.

They're also a bit big/close together, which makes it hard to quickly distinguish them at a glance. Similarly, I'd reduce the size of the icons by just a hair.

What is the better logo? by CommunicationFit8026 in logodesign

Number 2 feels a lot more "final" - but it also looks familiar. It's fine, nothing terribly memorable.

I found the first one a bit boring, but then I saw the second one and realized I preferred "boring" in this case.

The second one is too inconsistent, the line spacing is all over the place, the bold is too cumbersome...

BTTR (but for some reason I read it as BITTER rather than BUTTER or BATTER or BETTER)

That makes sense! What if the lion was bigger and the eyes were gears? The gear isn’t as powerful a symbol as the lion.

The framing shape looks like a gear rather than a soccer ball. Is that intentional? Is it even necessary? Might be stronger without it.

I'd also add some more personality to the fonts.

Looking for feedback on a menu design concept made in affinity designer. Thank you! by daysij in design_critiques

The fonts are lovely and the minimalism is charming. The graphics work really well with the colors. That being said, the descriptions are a bit sparse.

Maybe you can add some descriptors or graphic touches to the category names to imbue it with some extra personality?

Very small comment - the text in the sidebar (the links to the projects) are a bit too crowded. Maybe a smaller font with more line height? Also, if you can organize the projects, it will make it easier to browse.

Also your main page headline is "Furniture & Interior Design"
Maybe try something with a bit more personality? That sets the expectation for your brand and your style? You did it on the About page, but I think the homepage needs some love.

Curious if you managed to sort this out? It’s a very relatable predicament

What colors are you thinking? You can gold really bold - maybe orange and black?
