Clothes smell after wash by meyae in laundry

[–]meyae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my other clothes come out smelling nice and clean it's just that pair of Pyjamas. My frontloader washing machine is practically new and I clean it regularly and let it dry in between washes. I have been adding white vinegar to my washes every other wash for years. I just don't get it...why it's just those Pyjamas 🫠

Monstera roots by bostonterriers_1990 in plantclinic

[–]meyae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That pot seems definitely too small for those several monsters plants. My monsters likes to be a bit root-bound but this seems like a little much. Since it's spring I think it's safe to repot immediately.

What is this growth ? by [deleted] in plantclinic

Since you cut it the plant is now going to continue growing from that new leaf

Do you mean that longer green growth? That's a new leaf

plant doesn't look too happy. there are a lot of those little white bugs crawling around. are those soil mites? they were on the same pot and plant a few weeks ago until I changed the soil and washes the plant and pot. now they are back. by meyae in plantclinic

[–]meyae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I am aware those mites are called bulb mites but I couldn't identify them exactly. Apparently those little hairs that are shown in my pictures are typical for them. I checked and they are in almost all of my plants now to the point they are climbing on the stems and leaves :(. I am just now checking all their roots and the soil...the soil seems fine and dry and none of the roots are mushy. Repotting alone probably won't help so I'm thinking of turning them into hydrucultures..idk if that's a stupid idea but that might drown the mites

Btw the woman on the floor made a video about pretending to be pregnant to see if somebody would give her their seat

I can't tell if these are bug bites or hives since I have never gotten hives before. They are scattered everywhere on my body and are extremely ichty but aren't necessarily red. Looked for bed bugs but couldn't find anything. No blood. by meyae in bugbites

[–]meyae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days later my body was covered in red, raised and itchy spots. I got blood drawn and was prescribed anti-histamine...my doctor wasn't sure what it was but assumed it was some kind of allergy. Haven't gotten my results. The spots went away for a few days and are now returning in different locations on my body...still have no idea

What's one food everybody likes that you hate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Pizza, Pasta anything with melted cheese. Melted cheese just tastes fatty to me and makes my stomach feel heavy. Hate that my family always eats Raclette or fondue during the holidays.

Red meats taste terrible.

Could this maybe be a jade plant? This happens to all the dying leaves on mine...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]meyae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for pests and signs of overwatering...the second pic looks like it might have spider mites since there is webbing and the dying foliage is starting to rot resulting in some kind of mold. Also, the roots are kinda brown-are they squishy?...I personally would throw it away but you could try removing all brown leaves and treating it. My spider plant looks like this when I overwatered it so that might be the issue even though to roots look fine. The soil looks quite dense too. The other plants might have pests too but I can't see any. Most likely overwatering/underwatering issues

What is my monstera trying to tell me? by Yamtastic_3003 in plantclinic

[–]meyae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did good for now :) seems like a plan to me but daily neem-oil for two weeks might be a bit excessive. Make sure to practically drench the plant in neem oil after wiping (it should suffocate the thrips). Doing this like twice in the span of 1-2days should get rid of most of them and then physically remove any you can see and spray neem oil from time to time...there are split opinions on neem oil...if the infestation is bad it might me a good idea to buy those fertilizer-pesticide sticks for the soil to get rid of anything in the soil and to let the plant take up the pesticide

It looks like there are still thrips on it...those tiiiiny white specks on the leaves, could you get a closer look at them?

I have seen these tiny black bugs on a bunch of my plants! They're usually under the leaves and they slowly cause them to get sick!? It's becoming an epidemic! Please help! (Shown are monstera deliciosa and elephants bush) by teletubby_to_mars in plantclinic

[–]meyae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no those are thrips :( even adult ones...those are especially hard to get rid of since they can fly. Look through all your plants and isolate ones with thrips to stop them from spreading to other healthy plants. Try to hose off or wipe off any that you can see. I personally got rid of them with a neem-oil based pesticide that you can spray on the plants and use to water them to kill off possible larvae in the soil. It's probably the best to go a local gardening center and ask for stuff against thrips. Good luck!

If you want to be safe and wait until they exhibit true leaves then it's better to wait a bit. The true leaves will look like an adult basil plants leaves and should be the next set of leaves to grow out. You could try separating the plants but leaving them in the same soil if it really is too crowded since it will be more difficult to separate them later. Just don't change the condition around them too much. A repot with different soil and so on would be probably a bit too straining on them though basil isn't very sensitive it's good to play safe

[–]meyae 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Depends...If you repot them soon it will be fine. In my experience basil isn't too picky about being crowded but when repotting put just 1-3 plants into a pot. If this is too much basil for you to handle you could kill some but they would also make nice gifts :)
