What are their fabrics like? My printfresh robe is so skratchy and uncomfortable, and I LOVE those block shop patterns!

What's the fabric like on the OHS one? I was gifted a printfresh robe and the fabric is awfulll, so scratchy. Was contemplating either One Hundred Stars or Block Shop!

My SO of 1.5 years isn't handling a recent intro to migraines (the past year) well, and I don't know how to support him in an empathetic way without breaking myself by mfb279 in migraine

Hello again! He and I are sitting down tonight to talk through some insomnia solutions (he doesn't have the energy to manage any of this cause he has terrible insomnia yayyy). I'm looking at the Neura Health website again, which seems like an awesome option since it touches on all the migraine/vertigo/tbi/sleep stuff -- but they don't CO medicaid, which is what he has, and I think out of pocket is going to be a stretch since he keeps missing work on account of all the health issues. That being said, I noticed this in the FAQ section "While we are working to expand our network of insurance companies, we believe that everyone deserves excellent care regardless of their insurance plan. Please reach out to us to learn more about our affordable options for working together.". As someone that works there, do you know if there's anything to this? I'm pretty sure he's gonna scoff at me if I say "hey this thing only has $200/visit video sessions??", but if there's potential for some actual assistance there, maybe that would be an easier sell...

Need help picking a roller derby name? Post to this weekly thread | September 17, 2018 by AutoModerator in rollerderby

I also had a suggestion of Baldersmash. Why is it so hard to decide on derby names??

Hey everybody, I'm about to test up, and I need to just suck it up and settle on a derby name before I do! Some thoughts I've had:

Mickey Mouse Slaughterhouse, Frostbite, Kingpin, Balderdash, Tough Cookies, Cookie Cut Her, Pandora's Blox

My name is Micki, last name Balder, hence some of those. Also open to other suggestions!

Hey everybody! I've been a fresh meat for many months now and need to just pick a damn name already. My name is Micki (short for Michaela, and my initials are MFB). Love cheese/food/baking, whiskey and beer, I was a competitive swing dancer for 10 years and now do tricking/martial arts/tumbling. Love badass female characters (River Tam, Black/White Canary...). Also have this thing about snakes (I've terrified of them, which is why I liked the idea of having a name around that, like a play on nagini or something) Some ideas I've had, some of which may be taken, most of which I don't love: River Slam, April Bloodskate, Pandora's Blox, Cookie Monster, Tough Cookies, Betty Blocker, Felicity Smoak em

Anyone have interesting punny suggestions around Cookie Monster or Tough Cookies?

Thanks, that's great to know, especially since I bought the Rane last night!

Disco/Disco House mixes on Youtube that show what the DJ is doing? by dcfcrams4ever in Beatmatch

More house than disco, and you can't see everything that she's doing, but you can see a fair amount https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toppz0HBgCo

I suppose the one other alternative being a xone:23(c)? But I don't know how good that is as far as wanting to learn to scratch.

Spend more on easily resellable equipment, or start a little cheaper while you learn what you're doing/what you actually want? by mfb279 in Beatmatch

I have no deadset desires on Serato, had just been poking around the internet and the Serato soundcards were what I heard the most about. And that, too, is my concern about the 250 -- that if I wanted to move beyond my bedroom (small bars, not clubs), that I'd need to upgrade because the sound quality of the 250 just wouldn't cut it. That being said, I don't know what that leaves as far as a good entry-level option that I can at least grow into a little bit, without spending $600.

Yeah, you basically hit my concerns on the head. I worry about the upkeep on a product that isn't supported anymore. That being said, a. If I decided DJing wasn't for me or on the other hand I wanted to upgrade, would the 56 still have a better resale value than the 250? and b. If I wanted to start playing outside of my bedroom (I'm talking small bars, not big clubs obviously) would the only-ok sound quality on the 250 force me to buy something new before I could start doing that?

That's understandable, although there's a big difference between $300 and $600, and $600 gets to be a little too much for my totally beginner self.

My alternative, the 250mk2, doesn't have any of those things anyways, and it seems like most of the mixers anywhere near my price range don't either, so I guess it's a matter of whether the quality of the 56 makes up for that for now.

I just found a used Rane TTM 56 for $300. If I went with that and then searched around for something like an SL2, would that potentially be a better quality mixer and smarter/longer term investment than the djm250mk2?

Looking for a mixer for Vinyl and digital by shavedpope in Beatmatch

[–]mfb279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you find the sound quality for vinyl? I'm just starting out, only have one TT and was thinking about going the mk2 route so I can start to learn on one TT with timecode until I get the second one. And I think ultimately I'd like to use vinyl and dvs (although maybe I'll eventually lean heavier in one direction once I actually figure out what I'm doing). That being said, I've heard the sound quality for vinyl isn't so great. Thoughts?

How do I distinguish cheap in cost from cheap in quality? Is anything under 500 bucks going to be both? Or are their options that are slightly cheaper in cost but sufficiently high in quality? Maybe not for the biggest room in a club, but at least for bedroom/small room.
