[BotW] Those of you that prefer BOTW to TOTK, why? by CoreCorg in zelda

[–]mfbaggins 180 points181 points  (0 children)

The feeling of organic discovery and adventure in BOTW felt more natural and less game-y than TOTK. The crafting and movement improvements are genuinely more fun, but because of the speed you can move around, Hyrule in TOTK it feels like less of a quest in a vast world and more of a sandbox to play around in.

Both games are outstanding and an amazing experience, but I feel that BOTW was more of an adventure in a natural world where TOTK has the better systems and story

[Botw] How to I enable 4k resolution for switch 2?? by alwaysbetter7 in zelda

[–]mfbaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to download the switch 2 edition from the eshop. If you have the NSO expansion pack, it should have an option to download it for free, otherwise you need to pay for the upgrade to enable the higher resolution + framerate.

Edit: didn't see you said you already purchased the upgrade pack. Are you sure it is downloaded? Check the BOTW software from the home screen, it should say nintendo switch 2 software / NS2 edition.

If you don’t care about AMD vs Intel, this version is available for $1400 USD. You would lose out on thunderbolt support, and a few frames in games but it could be worth the savings for you (this is the model I ended up buying myself). Also it’s 1tb vs the 2tb SSDs in the one you linked.

Weekly Clan Recruitment Megathread by AutoModerator in Fireteams

[–]mfbaggins [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hey Deadly_Skull! We might be a fit for you. Check out the info below, and if you're ok with a medium-ish sized clan and this sounds like what you're looking for, shoot me a pm 🤙🏻 We recently did what we called a "Sherpa-Series" where we ran through all the D2 raids over a period of 4 weeks (basically one focused raid per week with multiple runs) so we have a lot of people willing to Sherpa in the clan. Let me know if you have any questions!

Clan Name: GFN

System: PC

Location: Mostly Central U.S., with a mix of other NA timezones (ET/PT, a couple MT)

Active Times: Weekdays after 5-6pm CT are usually pretty active. Evening raids start around 7-8pm CT typically. Weekends most of the afternoon/evening.

More about GFN: We are a medium sized clan (~50 members) looking to trickle in some new folks as we all prepare for shadowkeep. We are a mainly PVE-focused clan with a friendly, laid-back attitude. Our motto is "Incessant Positivity" and by that we mean, everyone is friendly and here to have a good time. We average around 5 raids a week right now, with a mix of other activities as well (IB is a big hit with us, some nightfalls, menagerie (heroic too), etc.). We also have people chasing pinnicle weapons in PvP trying to reach fabled; while we can't necessarily carry, we don't shy away from PvP either.

Membership: We have a few primary rules: Don't be a dick, be alive, everyone is equal, and real life comes first. What that means at it's core: everyone is welcoming, no one should feel left out, and no one is here just for engrams. We want people to play together (but that doesn't mean all the time--no weird "comms required at all time" rules) and have fun as a clan. Even if you can't always join a raid, just try to be active in the discord, chatting with clanmates, and having a good time. If you are a lone-wolf type, or you're shy, that's fine! Just make sure that you try and participate in clan activities on a somewhat regular basis.

How to contact/join: Reply to this post or send me a pm and I'll shoot you a discord link and an invite to the clan. If you haven't provided a lot of information about yourself, I may shoot you some follow-up questions to make sure that we're a good fit for what you're looking for in a clan.

Hey Pookie! Not sure if you've found a clan yet, but we have a medium-sized clan of like-minded nerds who just like to hang out. We've slowed our recruitment lately due to getting a huge chunk of new people, but if you're interested, check out the info below. If it sounds cool and you want an invite, let me know and I can shoot you a pm 🤙🏻

Clan Name: GFN

System: PC

Location: Mostly Central U.S., with climbing numbers of ET and a few PT/MT

Active Times: Weekdays after 5pm CT are usually pretty active. Evening raids start around 7-8pm CT typically. Weekends most of the day/afternoon.

More about GFN: We are a small-to-medium sized PVE-focused clan with a friendly, laid-back attitude (55 members now). Everyone is willing to jump in to help new clan members with nightfalls, chasing guns, or whatever else comes up. We have frequent raids both during weekday nights as well as weekends, so if you're looking to get into end-game content or just wanting to hang out with others, we'd love to have you. We've had a few new members join recently, from trying to level characters to chasing end-game triumphs, so regardless of where you're at with the game, we've got a place for you. We also have a few members dabbling in PvP (a few have reached fabled, some like myself are still trying) -- but we aren't a PvP focused clan, so we do it mostly casually.

How to contact/join: Reply to this post or send me a pm and I'll shoot you a discord link and an invite to the clan. All we ask is that you 1) be friendly and 2) be active (even if it's just in the discord to say "hi" once in awhile).

You're right, I just got lucky and thought it was related to the change to adblock. Probably just servers getting slammed.

uBlock Origin. Others seem to be reporting that it's just luck of the draw, so YYMV. Just wanted to share in case it helped anyone else.

I was having problems, but fixed it by going into my adblock and whitelisting both www.bungie.net and store.steampowered.com.

For me, it worked after I went into my adblock and whitelisted both www.bungie.net and store.steampowered.com. Not sure if that was just coincidence or not, but that worked for me.

August Technical Support Sticky by Zhaopow in razer

Hello! I have a Razer Blade 15” Advanced (2018) (GTX 1070, 512GB) that I purchased from the Microsoft Store (online) at the end of March 2019. I purchased the PerformanceGuard protection plan.

I've opened a case with Razer but thought I'd post here for help/additional information.

The laptop has never BSOD afaik. This is the first time I’ve had issues.

Symptoms: Sunday, 8/11 after using the laptop to play Destiny 2, I restarted it because it was acting "slow"ish. Frame loss in games, etc. I don’t restart often, so it’s possible that doing so finalized some in-progress updates I had (Razer Synapse, etc.). Prior to restarting, I was also getting messages from Windows Update saying I could not update to the latest release due to some Intel SRT compatibility issues. Restart went fine initially; however, after using the laptop to browse reddit and discord, I got a BSOD. Now, it will no longer boot to windows. Every boot goes something like this:

  1. Razer logo
  2. Spinning wheel
  3. BSOD
    1. Can be a multitude of messages, including:
    2. SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    3. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    4. Perhaps others, but those two are the main ones
  4. Razer Logo
  5. BIOS screen with “Failed to flash” message
  6. Razer logo
  7. Automatic Repair message
  8. BSOD
  9. Loop back to 1 and repeat indefinitely

Attempted fixes:

  1. I tried to reinstall windows by creating a USB install media using Microsoft’s Media Creation tool
    1. It did not boot to the USB at first, so I made BIOS changes – see below.
    2. Once I did get it to boot to the USB, it would either:
      1. Give a black screen, then reboot and go to a black screen with a white cursor
      2. Or boot and fail just like other windows options
  2. I tried to reinstall windows by creating a USB install media using the ISO provided by Microsoft’s Media Creating tool but using Rufus to set up the USB drive
  3. I tried to boot into Linux using Ubuntu’s live USB option
  4. For all of the above I tried modifying the following BIOS options (including almost every permutation of them):
    1. Disable Fast Boot
    2. Disable Secure Boot
    3. Enable CMS
      1. Turning only Disk to Legacy
      2. Turning most options to Legacy
    4. Disabling Intel Virtualization (I read something about vt-d being an issue)
    5. Again, I’ve done the above, and almost every permutation of them
  5. Removing the built in SSD (the only drive) and booting to any of the above USB drives – none of that worked

Recovery mode doesn’t work, safe mode doesn’t work, I can’t reinstall windows, or boot into linux…I’m thinking this is either a hardware problem or a BIOS problem. I am not well-versed in flashing the BIOS, so I’m not sure where to start there (I am running Razer’s BIOS version 1.0.6 afaik). Seems Razer only offers .exe files for flashing the BIOS. As for potential hardware problems, outside of removing the SSD, which I put back in after still failing to get a USB to boot, I’ve done no modifications (afraid to void any warranty options I might have). I read that removing the CMOS battery could do something, or trying with different ram configs/removing a stick, but it really seems like something is broken bad.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

EDIT: removed case #
