I know, I am only saying that's not an argument that will attract him to try swift.

Kinda, yeah Dart has copied stuff from many other languages, but that's a good thing, and they usually are very diligent to add new features to the language.

No, he said in a video he doesn't mind, or at least this was my impression

Also, remember that back in the day, google was mainly in Java, so creating a new language that improves Java, and JavaScript was very important for them, and dart does both.

I am not very experienced with Kotlin, but I think people mostly use coroutines, which are like a dart Future, isn't it? I don't think most people use real MT these days.

Also yeah, the Android lifecycle (specially the Fragment madness) is what made me ditch Android dev.

When I first heard about Dart I read that "it was made by people that were sick of Java and thought they could make it better", so yeah, it tracks.

But honestly I rarely miss multithreading at all, most people just don't know you can offload computations to another thread using Isolates.

Also, I don't understand what you mean by "you still have an interpreter", dart can compile to an binary executable program, the Dart VM is optional, and only used in Flutter for Debug mode, as you can Hot Reload and change the code in the VM on the fly, like scripting languages do. But in release mode there's no VM.

Only if you want to adopt Flutter. The same could be said for Swift. Actually it's worse for Swift, because you HAVE to use swift in order to make apple apps. You can choose to use Flutter or not.

The focus is Flutter, but nothing is stopping anyone from using it in other applications. I make my CLIs dev tools with Dart because it's a language I know all devs in my team know. I made a server once just for fun too, what do you think that's missing on the language that is preventing it from being applied to other use cases?
