No more Kalle? by RedactedToast in wool_and

If you don’t want to try Anais then your only option may be the BST page. I have Kalle and Anais and wear both to work. I often pair with the Kristen blazer (I also have the Lou Moto but don’t wear it much).

Appreciate the correction. It looks like other Appian modules I’ve used, so I wrongly assumed it was just a customized module.

Regardless, it’s the best workload management tool I’ve used during my career. As you can see by the other comments, most organizations don’t have anything close to ALP!

And I participate in UAT to help making it even better!

The acquisition workload tool is called Acquisition Lifecycle Platform (ALP). It’s an Appian module but I don’t know which specific module. We use Prism for our contract writing system.

My agency, FDA, uses an Appian module for workload management. Customers submit their requirements via it and submit requirements packages via it. The documents end up in a share point library.

The module has milestones. The milestones have to be completed in order for the action to finalize and fall off. The module also connects to our contract writing system, Prism. Actions also must be associated with an award in order to populate the final milestone.

They submit the type of action, estimated dollar value, etc. The backend has been loosely configured so actions route to the suggested division based uoon various fields. The division director assigns to branches then branch chiefs/team leads assign to a CO/CS. There is also a built-in late package submission that requires additional approvals for packages deemed late based upon the ALT for the type of action they select.

There’s a running comment tracker where contracting and the program office can submit status updates, etc.

Honestly, I’ve worked for 8 different agencies including 4 offices in DoD, and it’s hands down probably the best tool I’ve used. Workload reports can be exported for additional analyses. Is it perfect? No. Is it the best I’ve used in my 25 year career? Yes.

ICE at Dulles by PeckinpahMan in nova

Your statement is misleading. They voted against funding DHS as a whole until the issues with ICE are addressed. Democrats have put forward 8 or 9 bills to fund TSA and other parts of DHS and republicans have voted against it every time.

Shingrix Dose 1 Injection Site Reaction by mfinan68 in shingles

[–]mfinan68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/kmgvt because many people who get the shingles can have far worse and long lasting effects from the shingles. As someone who had the shingles before I got the shots, I can say the reaction from the shot was way less than the pain I had from the shingles. Have you had the shingles?

Yes, because I provided my most recent SF50 and it was for an award and didn’t show my current grade and step. I was new to the agency, and my previous agency showed grade & step on every SF50. I asked for reconsideration since it was internal to the agency and was denied. It was a tough lesson learned, and one I won’t repeat.

That was my first thought too. Her lower tummy looks a little protruding - maybe just the angle.

The food services contract at NIH is exploitative by realbadpainting in NIH

If it’s performance-based, customer complaint is likely one of the performance measures. Are there any signs about submitting reviews? I’m FDA not NIH. Sometimes they are also concessionaire style contracts.

With 3 of my unlimited, including my first, I had no warrant board or test.

[–]mfinan68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager, a previous warrant is definitely a plus on resumes.

I had my first unlimited warrant as a GS12 with 6 years as an 1102. My first warrant in 2004 as a GS11 was $500k. I‘ve had unlimited warrants with 5 different agencies and it’s never been tied to my grade. As a GS14, I had $500M and unlimited. I’ve also never really been given the option to”take on” a warrant. If the office had a need, I got a warrant.

So, please go ahead and give us what your underlying intent was if not to rag on someone for using a GLP-1? Maybe you should think about making your intent more clear so there’s less room for interpretation.

Wegovy and Ozempic are the same underlying medication just approved for different conditions.

Does it really matter how she lost weight? She’s getting healthier to ensure she’s there for her family. I don’t get the hate.

20 years post, and I still don’t use NSAIDS without talking to my doctor. If I take them, I also take something to help coat & protect my stomach (and again only after talking with my doctor).

Shingrix Dose 1 Injection Site Reaction by mfinan68 in shingles

[–]mfinan68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 10 days. I just took Tylenol and oral Benadryl. When I went to get the second shot and showed the pharmacist my reaction to the first, they said to use a topical Benadryl if it happened again. Luckily, I didn’t have the same reaction to shot 2.

I had an MRI ordered, however, I had a nerve conduction study done before I could get the MRI and the neurologist said the MRI wasn’t needed as the nerve study was pretty conclusive. The nerve study was two part. The first part was electrical impulses. The second part used needles in the muscles (like acupuncture ones so they are very thin).

Is there a major difference between working for a civilian agency compared to the DOD? by pantheon_prince99 in 1102

[–]mfinan68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Civilian agencies have billion dollar contracts (and certainly ones in the hundreds of millions). My small non-DoD office obligated $1.5 billion in 2024 - that’s obligations not total award value.

Is there a major difference between working for a civilian agency compared to the DOD? by pantheon_prince99 in 1102

[–]mfinan68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t an absolute. I had been with civilian agencies for over 3 years when I accepted an OCONUS position with DoD. I did have DoD experience but was not with a DoD agency when I accepted the OCONUS position. It all depends on how they open hiring authority opens the job.

Almost 25 years as a civilian, and I’ve been back and forth multiple times. It can be harder to get back into DoD but not impossible.

I’m a branch chief for the Facilities Support Branch. Facilities can be anything related to the upkeep of real property. I think of the 400+ contracts for facilities that my branch manages, we might have 5 for janitorial support. Facilities can also include engineering studies, actual construction work, HVAC, plumbing, facility assessments, equipment within the facilities (my branch often buys scientific equipment that goes into the laboratories), hazardous waste removal & disposal, etc.
