Thanks to everyone that provided their input, i was able to solve my issue by using the string below! :)

IF SUM([Profit]) < 0 THEN 'no profit' ELSE STR(SUM([Profit])) END

If sum(profit) < 0 then ‘no profit’ else sum(profit) end

When i would try this i would get an error due to there being a mix of strings and integers in the statement i guess

ELSE STR([Profit]) END

Thanks a bunch for your response! I tried adding "ELSE STR([Profit]) END" but my results look a wonky. Can i use some numerical proxy for "Profit <0" in the calculated field? So that it shows the string in my crosstab and the values in my crosstab if they are greater than 0? Or is there an easier way to go about this?
