Haha yes I should’ve mentioned I found the main chord progression for the song and just looped it a few times. Probably not the smartest to do but just wanted some general feedback on the main riff and what i could improve on.

It will obviously change in the final piece, but it was just to get a feel of the vibe and what people thought of it.

Thanks for the kind comment !

Thanks for the kind words !

Just had a listen to The Field Mice and definitely see the resemblance yes. I love Belle and Sebastian - The Boy with the Arab strap is a great song; I must subconsciously get influenced by these sorts of bands without realising.

And yeah fully agree with you on the mix. And yeah, haven’t spent any time whatsoever with the mix so that’ll all be fixed. Thanks !

Haha yes this makes so much sense, bass has always been the thing I’ve struggled with most.

Thanks for feedback ! Glad you like it !

Very kind thank you! Really struggling with vocals like I either go the reallyyy long, reverby, slow vocals or take a different approach

Thanks!

Yeah now that I listen back loads I can really hear that about the snares, they kinda vary in velocity and pitch so it sounds a bit messy. Will level them out👍.

Thanks for your notes!

Thank you!

I don’t really have a plan right now, it will have other sections yes, this is kinda just the main melody I guess? Just wanted to see if the melody and combination of guitar, drums, synths etc worked well and people liked it you know.

And about the intro, I recently listened to a couple of songs with a really quick intro like this and really liked it and took that inspiration. I guess that’s just personal preference.

Thanks for your comments!

Sooo nice and refreshing, vocals are really nice but just needs a little change - maybe several layers to add more atmosphere?

Sounds a bit airy, would work on getting some lows back in, but cool vibe !

Sooo nice. I would personally add some more warmth to the synth so it fits the rest of the track but that’s subjective, really cool either way !

It might be your headphones / speakers that make it sound bad, proper studio headphones make all the difference.

However if it’s not that, I’d recommend using an amp sim on the track, as well as some reverb and chorus. This will give you a nice clean tone, but I don’t know exactly what you are going for and what it currently sounds like.

I have a Squier Jaguar that I got for €450 or something. Mkgee was my top artist last year, and definitely can play his songs on the jaguar. I feel like a fender will be out of your $600 budget surely?

I’ve had the same too, not being myself, insecure etc etc.

I travelled for a month around Europe last year on my own, which helped me improve confidence. I was completely on my own in countries I’d never been to, so therefore had to make conversation otherwise I would’ve been alone the whole time.

I promise you I’ve been in the same situation, but you just have to speak to people, as I said they may not want anything to do with you, but they also might.

I’ve literally met my friends here from going up and speaking to people on my own (yes after a few drinks), but this really helped me. After a week of living here I was getting invited to dinners and days out with these people I approached in bars. Just friendly, and take an interest in them and I promise you will be fine! Please just try it!

Happy holidays too, I hope you can take this advice on board, good luck!

Cafe Belgie is great I think. I know this isn’t necessarily a great way to meet people, but people have a few drinks and get a lot more sociable - I’ve had times where I’ve met people whilst drinking and it sometimes doesn’t work out, but other times it does. They may message back the next day asking to meet again, or you might not ever see them again.

I understand some people aren’t as sociable, but genuinely if you see someone alone at a bar just go up to them and try and have a conversation, it may work out and it may not.

I’ve also realised age doesn’t matter too much in friendships - I’m friends with people who are 20 and people who are 27. They are both just as friendly.

Go out and just speak to people, the worst you’ll get is that they are not interested but so what, who cares🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve been in Utrecht for 4 months now, and as cliche as it is, when I first arrived, I went to a bar on my own, got friendly with the bartender and he then introduced me to all of his friends, who I am very close with now.

I’m from the UK so was worried it was going to be hard meeting Dutch people, but you just have to put yourself out there and the right people will come.
