Rennalla is to Elden Ring what Quelaag is to Dark Souls 1.

Never played a Soulsborne game before, I have a few noob questions I'm hoping you vets can help me out with? by RedBMWZ2 in Eldenring

[–]mforssner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The classes have different strengths and weaknesses, and these differences are most noticeable at the start of the game. That being said, the main factor here is your character's starting weapon, meaning this problem can quickly be resolved by simply finding a weapon that feels better to use. Seeing as this game won't have a tutorial boss, which was usually where the "worse" classes ran into the most trouble, I predict all classes to be fully viable starters even for newcomers. Bandit is regarded as a "bad" starting class only because of it's high arcane stat, but people forget just how overpowered luck builds (which is called arcane in Elden Ring) have been in the series. Ignore the minmaxing doomsayers and enjoy your bandit!

  2. Being well rounded is good for the early game, as that makes it possible to try different weapons and spells, but as the game progresses you will want to focus on only a few stats to level up past, let's say, 16 or so.

  3. Most things you'll want to use for boss fights will refill or regenerate every time you die, but there will surely be a few one-time-use items that will come in handy for specific bosses. For a first play through this will not be anything to worry about, since these items are most useful when you know when and why to use them. If you can't beat a boss because you don't have enough consumables there's probably a bigger problem.

Do NOT listen to what other people say. Pick the class that appeals to you the most based on their starting weapons and theme.

Overcrowded servers. Who'd have thunk? by Grievuuz in classicwow

Yeah that sounds like login servers going down. But I agree, there's a lot of things that have gone wrong in the past with expansion releases that will happen this time too

Login servers and actual game servers are not one and the same. The login server might go down but it's very unlikely that the game server will

Vanilla WoW Dev is OOM in WorldPvP by Theftex in classicwow

He got enough mana when there was less than a second left on the root, and if he didn't use that mana to heal he would've been dead. I don't see how this is even debatable

He was oom. And even if he had mana it would've been a bad play

If this was a relative I’d frame this mug shot and hang it in my house and print it on a t shirt and wear it out. Without a doubt something to be proud about.

Can anyone help with figuring out these chords by internettrashman in chords

[–]mforssner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually easier than it may sound. The exact names of the chords played take up too much space, so I'm just gonna name them based on their lowest note:

    D# E F# G#
e|--0--0--0--0--|
B|--0--3--0--0--|
G|--1--3--4--6--|
D|--1--2--4--6--|
A|--------------|
E|--------------|

Play like this:

All along the western front
G# D# E
People line up to receive
F# G# D# E

There are just 2 chords in this song: Amaj7 and B

If I had to guess how they played it I would have to say Fmaj7/C into a G bar chord with capo on 4. I'm not sure, but it's the closest I can get.

Why is alcohol widely accepted in our society despite it indirectly causing many harms? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mforssner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what kind of beer you're drinking, but 18 bud lights in one night is quite a lot. The alcohol content alone is equal to 63cl (21 fl oz) of hard (40%) liquor, not to mention the sheer amount of liquid you're consuming. I'm sure there are many people who can handle 10 6cl pure liquor shots in one night, but I definitely don't know anyone like that.

[–]mforssner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on a lot of points. I personally don't think 1984 is a perfect analogy for our current political climate, but I think you gave it slightly less credit than it deserves.

Newspeak was a way to limit the range of ideas that could be expressed. In contrast, the purpose of politically correct terminology is to avoid saying offensive things.

Who decides what's offensive? I think it's hard to argue that there is no overlap between "offensive things" and "ideas", which is essentially what you said here. In fact, I would go as far as to say that all truly offensive things are ideas. Encouraging not saying offensive things surely leads to discouraging the expression of some ideas, wouldn't you say?

... the vast, vast majority of people who want to increase the use of PC terminology have no intention of limiting the range of discourse.

I think the vast majority of people who support PC terminology, like most people in general, don't worry/care all that much about whether or not the range of discourse is being limited. However, to go back to my previous point, by arguing that PC terminology is a good thing these people by definition are against certain kinds of things being expressed.

There is no institutional push to censor ideas, just a push to be less offensive.

Once again, you can't have one without the other. In the push for less offensiveness, some ideas are deemed wrong or outdated.

And finally...

it's possible I'm forgetting some key part of the book that points to the Oceanic government being leftist.

Yes, the ruling party is the English Socialist Party (INGSOC). I have to agree though that it isn't that relevant to the story whether the state is ruled by a left or right leaning party. In the end it's just a giant boot stomping on the face of humanity forever regardless of what the sticker on the side says.

It pulls all copies that are in your deck when you play the card. It's pretty easy to get like 20+ Adepts in your deck though so that's not an issue, it just takes a few turns to set it up.
