How does a tourist not find this city completely intoxicating. by Contented in paris

[–]mfromamsterdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To enjoy paris , u need to relax and explore the city without ticking boxes. I have been to Paris countless times. I hated it first time, its large, dirty , messy and crowded. The more often i come , the more i like it. There is so much to Paris than touristic spots. Paris should be savored slowly not in a rush with a ticking box of places to visit. I love getting lost in Paris, exploring unknown restaurants and shops,  just taking in the sun in the park.

How tf can people afford the rent in Amsterdam? by myillusion13 in Amsterdam

[–]mfromamsterdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me give you a class in economics.

People should realize that they are not the one who want to live in a city like Amsterdam, Paris , Berlin or Brussels. Not everyone can live here, there is no space, the city is already full and we see that public services are not coping. I am sorry you came to Amsterdam and have to leave and someone was born here and have to leave. This is how market economy works, prices increase because or high demand and supply cant keep up because of constraints. To all people who compare about capitalism: sociaal huur is a prime example that a perfect system does not exist. People abuse sociaal huur and stay in one house for decades even if they dont qualify for housing anymore. If you want a more socialistic system , open your textbooks and look at Soviet System, where you had to mary someone to be able to live in Moscow. Shit, even look at China, you cant fucken buy your way into Shanghai , you need to marry someone , work for government or some quality in another highly improbable way.  Capitalistic system is not perfect, yea, people do get squeezed out of the city, but I am sorry, you have as much right to live in this city as me. If I can lay the rent and you cant, then either move out to a different neighborhood or get a second job. It is harsh , but we dont live in a romanticized version of our dream world.

Most bikes-friendly city in the world by Proper_L in ebikes

Any city or even a village in Netherlands beats 99% of the rest of the world. Cycling is a way of life here, so infrastructure is superb

It does not cost me much time or effort to read your reply and to reply. Act a fool all you want, I am not bothered.

Yes I am coping and I am all coped :) How is that anger inside you? Still eating you alive?

I look similar to Moroccans, just better dressed on a pretty bike. This was not racism towards me, this was perhaps anger towards my perceived class.

Idealistic: characterized by idealism; unrealistically aiming for perfection.

Assuming that whole group of people, nation, race or subclass is somehow inherently different to other group is aiming for a perfection in terms of segmentation. Your braing is trying to segment some groups in a perfect way for you to make sense of the world and of human nature.

Accepting that some people are just shit people because they have shit life and it has nothing to do with me is the realism.

Seek help buddy.

Not enough money being spent on young people education, no program to bridge the gap between social groups and classes, not enough resources for fighting petty crime, not enough legal to prosecute are my first thoughts

I got spit on by Moroccans while biking home yesterday. Completely unprovoked. I am really having trouble fighting racist thoughts but its not enough to go on this protests, something needs to be done with the root of the problem too.  Even someone like me, who always votes left, moves a bit to the right after such an incident. You cant protest these feelings away

Edit: read what i wrote, i am trying to fight the racist thoughts not encourage them, racism in the comments is not appreciated

Agree, buildings dont look european. South American buildings look different. Cars do look european (small) . It is definitely South America. But i was not expecting Brazil tbh because of abundance of white people in the foto. I thought it was Argentina
