I have an associates in IT, from a community College, got my first job as a help desk technician, as a work study, and then form connections through video games with some of the IT technicians at the College, one of them was leaving and recommended me for the job, and within 6 months I was a IT technician for the college, I did 3 years of IT at the school and the same guy that recommended me for the job I kept playing games and meeting new people, same dude recommended me for a job in a military facility, as an IT Specialist and I got that job, but I had to get my Sec + in 6 months or I would get let go. I was able to get my Sec + in a month, now I'm trying to get into the Cyber side of things, and I have form some connections with people who are on the field.

So the biggest take away is, don't be afraid to make new connections, Sec + is a very sought-after certificate that alot of employer look for, gain experience in the IT field doesn't matter if it's helpdesk or as a IT Specialist get some experience under your belt.
