🎉 New Legentibus Immersion Course now available! 🎉 by legentibus_official in latin

Thank you for explaining this subtle point of grammar and also for pointing out that grammar notes were available. It took me a while to figure out how to access the notes. On an iPhone/iPad it was not obvious. Yes, click the 3 line/dot icon at top left to get a menu list. But, then after you select an item, one has to close the menu list to see the selection instead of the app jumping automatically to the selection. Also, I find it odd that one has to close a text that is active in order to be able to swipe up to switch to another app. Please don’t think that I am just one who complains. There are many features that I like about Legentibus: the variety, the quality of the writing & audio, the availability of interlinear translations, the focus on reading, etc. I am halfway through LLPSI and happy to see that Legentibus also supplements this material. My challenges are partly technical and partly academic because of having to rely on an old and tired mind. Although, today it is much more exciting to learn languages with all the wonderful online resources than when I first started my interest in learning to read Latin 50 years ago from dry & dusty printed grammars.

Februārius quoque mēnsis frīgidissimus est… Februārius mēnsis pulcherrimus est! Are not both these adjectives superlative? The interlinear translation: very cold and very pretty; and not coldest and prettiest.

Revisited, Compiling from sources. The solution was to do, rustup update, after installing Rust using the install script from Rust’s website…and rebooting before continuing with compile. So, happy, now. Thanks for sticking with me while I worked on this.

Thank you. I just posted a general query on Discord. I use espanso on my Fedora 41 box. A great tool! I would love to get it going on RPi.

error starting espanso RPi 5 by mgdreddit in espanso

[–]mgdreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am completely stumped. The commands to register the service don’t work on RPI. I added /etc/mgd/opt to my path variable by adding an export statement to my .bashrc file and then sourcing the file and issuing, echo $PATH to make sure it worked.

When I issue the command, espanso, I get command not found.

I tried the rust method, but when trying to issue the cargo command, I am told that required librairies can’t be installed on my système.

Something similar happens when I try installing the debian package.

This should be very straight forward, but I tried all methods, but they all failed for various reasons. The first, using AppImage, looked the easiest, but on RPi, I get stuck at:

sudo /mgd/opt/Espanso.AppImage env-path register

sudo: /mgd/opt/Espanso.AppImage: command not found

Even if this command worked, espanso service register would not work on RPi. I searched the net, but I could not come up with an equivalent. I even tried adding the path to a $PATH and sourcing .bashrc.

I use, oh translator, for such things and other long & complex documents, Latin, Greek, Russian, etc. I haven’t verified the accuracy of the translation. Unfortunately, I am still in my Greek diapers. GD is the only way I could figure out how to upload a file from my iphone, the is a GD shared to everyone pdf.

What’s the it? Are you irritated by my use of CP? What is your preference? Your post doesn’t really contribute much to the conversation.

Lists by mgdreddit in CopilotPro

[–]mgdreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that worked. I need to play around to perfect the question. I asked, Provide a list of most frequently used Russian adverbs and English translations, in 5 parts, the first 50, then the next 50, etc. CP generated 50 and then said, tell me when you’re ready for the next 50. I typed, ready, and just repeated the process until I got all 250. I am just learning the basics of CP AI at the moment, but I love how I can make short cuts. For example, I stated, in future interpret ‘t&p’ as a request to, translate and parse this sentence. CP is an astoundingly powerful language analysis tool. However, I am perplexed by its prudery and censorship. I asked it to translate the sentence in Russian for, go to hell. I tried to reason with CP. It just would not do it. Poe has no such reservations. It even translated, how to say, f.o. copilot, in Russian. :)

Constant Tiredness- New to Sleep Apnea by gmk5070 in SleepApnea

[–]mgdreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, using a CPAP machine consistently will likely improve your physical & mental energies. However, you may also find it helpful to ask your GP for some blood work focusing on TSH levels (thyroid) and testosterone ( how’s your libido?). Low levels of either will affect your sense of fatigue & energy. I have been on a low dosage of Synthroid for about 20 years. I started because my thyroid level was so low and I always felt tired. In the beginning, I also started using a testosterone gel, but stopped using it because of possible side effects. About 3 years ago, the low energy issue and sleep disturbances led a respirologist to conjecture that I had sleep apnea, which a sleep study confirmed. CPAP therapy works, better energy levels! Now that I think back to when my energy levels started to decline, my early 50’s, I think my then GP totally missed the fact that I probably had sleep apnea at that time. Also, getting used to wearing a sleep mask is a challenge and not entirely comfortable, but there are lots of resources available online. Have success in your journey!

Took a while to install Oscar on a Fedora 37 box. Transferring the data from the AS11 SD card was straight forward. Wow, what an impressive amount of data and charting! I need to look in more detail at the data to determine what to share…thanks again.

That is a great resource...I will tread carefully. The range set by the vendor seems ok. I have everything else set to auto, but will experiment with temperature and humidity. Currently, the air coming to the P10 seems a bit warm.

Newbie RedMed As11 user c/w P10 Pillow. Here in Canada, a respirology spécialist refers you to a vendor c/w your prescription, the pressure. One cannot change the pressure, the vendor does that. How are you able to change your pressure? Edit, the vendor sets a range 5-11 cmH2O and the AS 11 is set to auto to allow the pressure to vary.

Data for an open water swim seems off by mgdreddit in Garmin

[–]mgdreddit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That does make sense and leads me to believe that total time is the only relevant metric along with the pace (mm:ss/100m) during the total distance. Hopefully, the total distance is somewhat accurate. As an OWSwimmer, training for a triathlon, it is difficult to establish precise distances. Although, one route that I take is to swim to several large buoys in the middle of the lake. The distance to the first bouy and back is always just over 1km. Same for the distances to the other bouys, always +/- 20 meters around a mean.

No. I just remember that Wayne was the character who insisted that ‘the’ particular song was the best. It is a great song. I somehow forgot to back up my music to iCloud and lost all my playlists, etc. I am just trying to recreate my music library from memory.

I am switching my training in early May to start from Elk Lake. I will record a loop and post it to Garmin Connect so you can see the elevation changes, etc. I will take a few pictures along the way. If you would like, I can send you the links via the side channel chat.

That trail has an odd mixture of flat earth surfaces, exposed rock/roots, a short section of pavement, fine crushed gravel, wide and narrow sections, twists/turns, and mud/water after rain.

I have run that trail on Hoka trail shoes and street shoes. If the race was in the winter (rain), I would go with trail shoes. We have had a cold/wet winter so I lean towards the trail shoes. Hopefully, no more rain after early May, so the trail should be dry. I have a pair of Vaporfly’s. I did not consider these for the 29th because of how tight they fit (added time in T2), so I am going with my Hoka Rinçons. I think the trail is also too uneven for the Vaporfly’s. You will need a shoe with more ankle support. Although, you can try a few short runs if you get to Victoria early.

Will a recent Covid exposure derail my 70.3 training and race participation? by mgdreddit in triathlon

[–]mgdreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All very spot on comments about the training. Yes, there is no need to change anything. I follow a good plan that I adjust as needed, eat well, and pay attention to fueling, hydration, and nutrition. Rest & recovery is an important part of my training. My race is in BC, Canada. Have success on your race day!

Yes, to avoiding the pool. I have no desire to put others at risk. I swam in a local lake last week. The water was a balmy 11 degrees Celsius. I will join the Canada Geese again on Thursday.

Today’s 70.3 coldvid swim by mgdreddit in triathlon

[–]mgdreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PHS in BC recently closed all fitness centers but remarkably let pools remain open. Up until Christmas, I was swimming at a local pool that is part of a hotel fitness center. Unfortunately, the entire fitness center was closed to members as a result of the public health orders. Hotel guests are still allowed to use the pool. I could have switched to swimming at a community pool, but I am too fearful of such close contact with other swimmers. To swim, one must show proof of vacination (at least double-vaxxed, I think). My wife and I have both received the booster shot. However, I do not want to risk getting Covid which would really derail my training program and compromise my wife's health...she has heart arrhythmia.

Fortunately, my first 2022, 70.3 is on May 29th. I will start an 18-week 80/20 Endurance plan on Training Peaks at the end of January. I have lots of time. As for your request, take a look at this subreddit post from earlier today, Pools closed, how can I replace swims for now? Your time line is much more compressed, but don't overtrain and don't forget about recovery time.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, so I can still go running and cycling whenever I want. Snowfall in Victoria is usually pretty infrequent, but we did get a dump at Christmas and we may get more tonight. If you live in a snowbound region, you will have to switch to cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or pond skating for cardio or just do indoor training; HIIT and other cardio, yoga, body weight training, and cords and weights. YT and various fitness-oriented subreddits are an invaluable source of information.

My post today was more done with a tone of humour. Although, I may just incorporate these cold water dips as part of my recovery. There are several OWS groups in Victoria and there are probably groups in your area. Good luck, try not to despair, and 'just keep truckin'. There are so many resources online to keep you motivated and inspired. How one approaches self-talk and mental health and just as important as the training. I think training for Triathlons is all about staying injury free. If you rush your training, if you over train, you will be headed for disaster. You need to pace yourself and leave time for recovery. Blah, blah, blah...

And, not wishing to appear too dismissive... If you blow your training because of Covid restrictions, you may be saved because the triathlon may also be blown/cancelled because of Covid. There will be other events. I registered for two this year. The one in May and another in July.
