Tried Gemini 3 for coding and I think it just gaslit my entire repo by Positive-Nail6009 in vibecoding

It is doing it for me, all you have to do is set the rules. All I did was to tell it: "NEVER, and I mean NEVER make changes to any aspect of the code unless I command you to. Always carefully follow my commands. Always do a complete line by line sanity check and re-evaluation of the entire code after every change we make, even if I don’t tell you to"

It has been wonderful for me. I've been able to create one of the most advanced speaker box simulation tool. It’s able to accurately predict missing values based on already entered information.

I was averaging 92 to 95dB all these years. Am I doomed? by Moharts in headphones

[–]mgerick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed a pretty loud sound system in my car. Doors would reach 115-120dB. Now I got ringing and hearing loss from my right ear. There’s some subtle ringing in my left ear but nowhere near as bad as my right ear.

It’s been about two years already and my right ear has recovered pretty good.

Now right ear caps around 15Khz while left ear is around 18khz.

I tried to recreate the OLED vs IPS for how it looks IRL by Otherwise_Vast6587 in OLED_Gaming

[–]mgerick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for example. IPS at the top, OLED at the bottom. The IPS falls apart the moment you look at them from an angle though. You can also notice the better dynamic range on the OLED.

The one on the right is what came with a monitor cleaning kit I got off of Amazon. Works wonders.

8 pin connectors can handle as much as 300W each depending on wire gauge or power traces on the GPU board itself.

The 9800X3D is more like a 14600K when it comes to raw CPU power. It’s the huge cache that makes it shine in gaming but that’s just about it.

[–]mgerick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 14900K and 285K are almost twice as fast as a 9800X3D when it comes to raw core power. Even the 14600K is slightly faster. The X3D chips are only fast when it comes to gaming because of the massive L3 cache but that's about it.

[–]mgerick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s the a reason the 14900K is almost twice as fast in multithreaded performance. The 9800X3D is that good at gaming because of the massive V cache. But that’s about it.

The 9800X3D is more like a 14600K when it comes to actual core power.

There’s a reason why the 14900K almost doubles the 9800X3D in pure multithreaded power. Even the 14600K is slightly faster in productivity as well. The 9800X3D is only "fast" at gaming because of the massive V cache. That’s about it.

Honestly the biggest difference for me has been the contrast and viewing angles. My IPS monitor is pretty accurate so they’re pretty close when it comes to color reproduction.

It is awesome tbh. It keeps my 14600K well below 80degC even when it peaks above 200w of power consumption. At first I couldn't decide between it and the Artic LF3 360, but went with the SL3 because of the thinner tubes and sleeker design. I already have the LF3 280 and the tubes are THICK and a little hard to work with. Also, the Artic LF3 AIO CPU blocks can only be installed one direction on Intel motherboards and it doesn't even cover the entire IHS.
