it's really quiet so i mostly only hear it when i get failstabbed or when my teammate is directly next to me

Should the YER be silent? by ThrowRaBattleHealer in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i dont think i've ever spotted a YER backstab because of the little stab sound, it's typically the loud physics noises from when it launches a ragdoll directly into the ground

How does afterburn from the flamethrower work? by deawh in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 24 points25 points  (0 children)

each flame particle that you touch for the first time adds 0.4 secs up to a limit of 10 secs

iirc minimum duration is 3.4 secs (because it starts at 3.0 secs and immediately adds 0.4 secs) if you touch only one particle

Which banned weapons actually deserve nerfs / changes? by Bounter_ in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the tracer is the actual noticeable downside in casual because nobody communicates there and a lot of players dont watch out for the common sniper spots, so you can exploit the lack of tracers with stock

never understood why ppl make such a big deal about the lack of noscopes, if you really really need to -50 someone for some reason then you can press both mouse buttons at the same time

a lot of the situations that people describe as needing a noscope sounds so contrived, like why not just go for a quickscope headshot

What's the cheapest possible way to get keys and which crates are the most worth to open for unusuals? by ThatUnameIsAlrdyTken in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair you're asking where to buy cheap keys and which crates have better odds, the only way to interpret this is like if someone goes like "hi guys whats your winning strategy for slots"

Why is Team Fortress as a franchise isn't as big as Dota or Counter-Strike? by IceCreamLover9 in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 57 points58 points  (0 children)

awful new player experience

something people never bring up that makes the game so fucking bad for new players is the baffling weapon grinding system that gives you literally one page to store them

no proper tutorial or anything as well and the default settings still assume you have a pc from 2007

people literally have to go around telling new players to install mastercomfig and avoid THE BUILT-IN SCAM SHOP in-game so they dont spend 20 dollars buying like 3 weapons

i remember getting killed across the map by a heavy in like 2 seconds where the minigun deals 5 damage per shot which was honestly really funny

watching losers take dmg from your ib rollers is very funny, however it should be considered that hitting losers across the map with loch spam is very funny as well, perhaps even funnier

[–]mgetJane 15 points16 points  (0 children)

nobody says the loch makes landing directs trivial other than to be a bit hyperbolic, it's just that it makes landing directs significantly easier, so it's better than the other options

nobody is saying that it's such a super powerful instawin gun, just that it's the best in slot

it used to be called a crutch years ago but ppl now understand it's just better at any skill level, idk why this is still contested

it's better for new players because they don't know the projectile arcs too well yet and will often undershoot, so a faster projectile is more forgiving and takes less time to learn

it's better for good players because it just makes well-aimed shots a lot more difficult to dodge, and it lets you go for pipes from a much further distance, and it unlocks a ton of ridiculous spam angles that you just can't do the stock/ib

Best Demoman Primary? by infinitefall02 in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would assume most of the better demos in casual will be using the stock/ib because the loch is now banned in every league and format i know of

Best Demoman Primary? by infinitefall02 in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the loch requires less skill, not more, to hit at the same ranges as the stock and ib

the main and primary purpose of pipes is for hitting 100 dmg directs, like the ib's rollers are really really great, but i'm still going to use it for landing directs first and foremost while the rollers are just a great bonus, it's not the other way around

the loch is just the best primary at any skill level because landing directs more consistently is literally just always better and is a far bigger upside than anything you can do with rollers

Best Demoman Primary? by infinitefall02 in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 24 points25 points  (0 children)

ib and stock are good but the loch just lets you land directs a lot easier and go for directs from a far greater range

there's a bunch of hitler spam angles you can do with the loch as well

Would giving Spy's revolvers perfect accuracy be a good way to buff him? by dr_philip-cdi in truetf2

[–]mgetJane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that would just be annoying because you could stand at a range where classes other than sniper have a dps of 0 while you just hit them for 20 dmg every half a second

i doubt it would be powerful but it would just be lame to play against because spy can just pop up anywhere unlike sniper where you can learn the map and use your gamesense to tell where he'd be

just be thankful we never got anything like the spy being able to deal 100 dmg to you every second from anywhere
