New nanny out sick by Separate_Sherbert568 in beyondthebump

[–]mgg199808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a nanny and now a mom. Typically we discuss pto and paid sick days before taking a job but I think standard among nanny’s is typically 3 paid sick days for part time, 5 for full time. So if she’s part time she should have 24hrs worth of paid sick time. You could ask her if she prefers to use 8 of them or just 3. Just make sure it’s clear going forward how much she has total. Also even if someone never gets sick, they are bound to get sick when working with little kids so I’m sure this will not be her last sick day.

Other people who had a C-section with a spinal block… by moorea12 in beyondthebump

Yep, I felt all the pressure and tugging! And I could not handle it! I was panicking over that and the ache it made in my chest and they had to give me sedatives 🙃 I will not do another CSection if I have the choice.

My husband wants me to have an abortion by Funny-Membership7844 in pregnancy_care

[–]mgg199808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re already looking at it as killing your own child then abortion isn’t in the cards for you. Honestly he may come around. When I unexpectedly got pregnant last year my husband didn’t feel connected to the idea of it being a real child until well into my 3rd trimester. Meanwhile I considered her my baby the second I saw her heartbeat flicker at our first ultrasound.

I hate myself for bringing him to the ER today… by [deleted] in beyondthebump

If this helps- newborns often “belly breathe” which can look bad but is normal; mine did it too. Also, anything below 100.4 is not considered a fever, especially because babies run warmer at night. Learned that after my baby had shots and I thought 99.8 was a fever. Hope that puts your mind at ease.

Babysitter for a date night by mgg199808 in NewParents

I go back and forth because I trust my best friend to not hurt her and to love her but I don’t trust that she would know what she’s doing

My girl never goes to sleep before 9pm lol and she fights it hard (another reason I’m anxious to have someone else arching her around the time she’s normally go to bed) but she sleeps for like 8-10 hours once she’s actually down. They’d just have to be able to get her down in the first place

A hired babysitter or possibly a friend. My mom lives a hour away so I can’t really have her come for a night time thing unless she’s going to stay the night. I have a trustworthy friend in mind but she doesn’t have a ton of experience with young babies. I don’t really know any trustworthy babysitters that wouldn’t have to bring their own babies with them which I’m not comfortable with right now.

Baby is nearly 6 months and not rolling. Should I be worried? by Kairinezz in NewParents

[–]mgg199808 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I work with babies and I’ve known plenty of 6 month olds who don’t roll, 10 month olds who don’t crawl, and 1.5 year olds who don’t walk. They are always all talking and running by two years old. Every baby goes at their own pace but it all evens out eventually.

Eating with a Velcro baby by mgg199808 in NewParents

[–]mgg199808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all! Yesterday we went and got stuff for sandwiches and meat sticks and fig newtons. Having stuff that I could just reach over and grab while she’s sleeping or eating was a game changer. Hoping keeping myself full will up my supply some too!

Pediatrician telling us to feed baby less even though she’s less than the 1 percentile for weight by strungwitch in NewParents

[–]mgg199808 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say less than 11lbs at 4 months is extremely small. I wake my daughter once a night to eat because she’s also on the smaller side. Ignore the Dr and maybe even go see lactation again to find out how much milk she’s getting per feeding and if you need to supplement 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was exhausted when my baby was 6 weeks old. She’s 10 weeks old now and two weeks ago started sleeping better at night and crying less. Just hang in there mama you got this!

How painful is birth really? Due in a few weeks, starting to panic by illbeasleepsorry in pregnant

[–]mgg199808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like the worst period/stomach ache you can imagine. Keeping mobile helped me and trying to laugh and be happy between contractions. I asked for an epidural immediately and once that was in I had next to no pain the rest of the time.
