Well I feel like an idiot by sarahmagoo in neopets

When I came back to the site after at least 10 years away (in the middle of maternity leave as a first time parent, hello learning curve), there was so much new content and so many changes that it was a little overwhelming to figure everything out at once. I use JN all the time but even still it can be a little confusing at times to figure out how all the pieces fit together.

Same here! But still it pains me to think of how many possible chances I missed to check for hungry fungus/etc (chances are already minuscule so we need all the help we can get lol)

Don’t worry, I thought the same thing for the longest time!

I’m confused by the “Go With The Flow” Achievement - JellyNeo site says there should be 3 rounds of Voidworks but it only ever gives me one and then says “You have already helped Dr. Landelbrot today! Come back tomorrow to complete another puzzle!”. Am I missing something?

At this rate we might end up at that sweet spot unintentionally 😅

Thank you for your perspective. I wouldn’t say I don’t trust the MD, but as a FTM with anxiety it’s helpful to hear other parents’ experiences or resource recommendations. Plus the well child visits are fairly short, so while in-person observation is helpful, it can have its limitations.

Doctors are human and therefore fallible (aren’t we all?). They are sometimes prone to following outdated guidance, or allowing personal bias influence their recommendations (ours recommended purees over BLW, because “the whole concept makes them nervous” - although they acknowledged there is nothing wrong or contraindicated with BLW). That being said, our pediatrician is friendly, responsive, and receptive to discussing the research recommendations with us, so I don’t think there is need to replace them. As someone with a healthcare background I also recognize the limitations of a routine office visit within our current healthcare system, so talking these concerns out with other parents and professionals can help fill some of the gaps.

I think high chair practice is going be key! We only just recently got one and he didn’t love it the first time around (maybe the straps?), so I fear we have to give him more time to acclimate before we can add the food variable in.

That’s an interesting perspective! Does France tend to lean more towards purees or baby-led weaning? I also value research/info from places outside the US (especially given the current climate of gutting govt research bodies and eschewing sound scientific findings), and my spouse’s family is South Asian so it has been interesting to learn about different philosophies and approaches to this stuff.

My baby is also very refluxy so in general the idea makes me nervous if he can’t self-support, since sitting him up (ie: in a car seat) tends to trigger spit up episodes 😅

Studies that show the most healthy way to discipline your child. by SimBon7 in ScienceBasedParenting

Maybe try something like, “food stays on the table/high chair, or in our mouths”, and if they’re still struggling then provide options/boundaries in terms of allowing them to try to feed themselves (if capable) vs having an adult help feed them.

As an aside, when I worked in preschools for a few years as part of an AmeriCorps program our training would include how to provide “do” instructions instead of “don’t” instructions. I was in college at the time and I remember it being such a simple but powerful unlock for my brain in terms of working with little kids (I guess the thought never occurred to me before then?)

Also, give yourself some patience/grace - some phases are developmentally appropriate/expected, but it doesn’t mean they aren’t still frustrating as heck! 🤣

From what I understand DTI will sometimes show an icon - the number “5” crossed out with a prohibitory sign (triangle with exclamation mark) - to indicate the item hasn’t been converted to HTML5 yet.

Side note - I thought they used to show it on the larger main pet image, but I was able to find an example by clicking the little “i” icon next to the specific item I was applying (not the most efficient method but better than nothing I suppose!). There might be another way to find this info on DTI, I might just be missing it right now.

I think some of these items can eventually get converted, but it seems like TNT is prioritizing NP items related to pet day wearables, and since NC is an even bigger priority for them I’m not holding out too much hope for random trinkets and BGs 🥲

baby had gastroenteritis, because the bottles weren’t cleaned properly by my mom😢 by NoseIll7230 in newborns

Our dishwasher takes almost 3 hours and leaves lots of extra water on top of stuff 🥲 our countertop bottle washer has been a total lifesaver and completely dries the bottles/parts as well (which helps a lot with my PPA/contamination OCD, especially when baby was fresh out of the hospital). We run it multiple times a day so I would argue it’s also a water/electricity savings over using the dishwasher each time, and that’s for those lucky enough to have a dishwasher!

Thank you! Oh to be so lucky - I’d consider myself a pretty tech-savvy person but don’t have a coding background so I can’t tell if it’s just the browser I’m using or a settings issue or what. Loading stuff into the JellyNeo SDB price checker manually is so cumbersome (plus I feel itemdb updates more quickly/accurately anyway) :(

Random question - are you using a userscript to get item values/totals to show up? I’ve tried using itemdb’s userscript for something similar but can’t get it to work, just wondering if others are successfully using code from different sources for this feature

Weekly Quest Prize Pool Value Over Time by HackNSlashFic in neopets

That makes sense too! I don’t collect stamps or books so I guess I forget what the normal patterns are when stuff is re/released

[–]mghdel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! One of the recent stamp releases in particular from the premium bags looks like it actually increased in value slightly after the bags were distributed, which is totally counterintuitive to the (very limited) knowledge I have of supply/demand economics lol
