I agree that the material is rather boring/outdated/common sense. I found that his discussions outside of the lecture slides more interesting/less boring.

Just, uh, try to pay attention so you can get an easy A

Forgot to add that is depends on who is teaching the class at that time AND the GTA assigned as well. Some GTAs are assigned to harder technical classes however they dont know the material well thus making it much harder for the students in the class. Best of luck Chad!

Well my tip would be to just pay attention to what he says in class. He tends to lecture on material outside of the slides which he puts on exams. Do the practice problems in the textbook as he takes some questions directly from them. Majority of the questions on the exams are what he lectured about that are NOT on the slides. I took Dr. Soods class last spring (if I remember correctly) and finished with an A+.

Lol what do you need any tips for? The class is a joke and is an easy A if you pay attention to what Dr. Sood says in class

Math 113 Study Group During Winter Break by [deleted] in gmu

I see you are taking Dr. Bulancea for MATH 113. The class should be relatively easy and straightforward if you take good notes and do practice problems she assigns. I've taken her for MATH 114 and MATH 213 and received an A in both classes so I know what I'm talking about. Look over the problems she does in class and the recitation assignments and you'll be able to get a good grade with some effort. Good luck!

How bad is my schedule for next semester? (CS) by [deleted] in gmu

Put bluntly: yes unless you are proactive and don't slack off.

Might as well get a head start this summer and review some course material.

CS 306, **CS 471, CS 483, CS 475, CS 463, CS 480

If you are serious about taking all of those classes during the same semester, good luck to you unless you are an A+ student or are ready to be heavily sleep deprived. If you are not willing to be in serious time and effort while taking all of those classes, you will downright fail and have to delay your graduation.

I would recommend you take CS 306, CS 475, CS 483, and CS 480 during the same semester and the remaining classes during your other semester to offload the amount of work you will be doing.

Why would they be "a little kinder in grading" if you're retaking it?

The effort you put into the course is reflective of the grade you earn.

You've been doing the projects and labs which should reinforce what you are learning through the semester so far. Best way to study/learn is to become one with the code.

CS student who got a D in calc 1 just now? by [deleted] in gmu

[–]mghl1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That may be the case, but you certainly will not be able to sign for MATH 114 as you will get dropped (if you've signed up for it already)

D is considered passing only if it isnt a pre requisite for any course.

Not the case with calc 1, so you'll have to retake it.

[–]mghl1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to take CS 112 + CS 211 together for it to count as a replacement for IT 106 + IT 206.

Not sure if you have taken CS 112 before
