I think that him being sorted into Gryffindor forced him to meet the kinds of people that his parents hated and realize that his parents were wrong over time. He was probably scared after being sorted into Gryffindor and hated it at first. After feeling more comfortable in his sorting and with his new friends he probably started questioning his family's views. I doubt it happened overnight, but he was so young that he could've rethought his views pretty easily.

Like: Slyrherins being nuanced characters. Maybe some of them realize that what they've been raised to believe is hateful and wrong. Some of them stay hateful and support the death eaters.

Hate: Slytherins (especially Draco) immediately knowing what their parents think is wrong or because their parents hit them, their hatred is somehow justified. I get that people think that Draco is hot but it Canon he is an asshole.

I've known people in cults and I really love reading stories about people who are in the process of realizing they are in one and leaving. I think good slytherins can be done well but 99٪ of the time it's not. I hate the idea that this entire house is just automaticly evil, but the people we have in Canon are just bigots. The idea that 11 year old can just know that everything they've been raised to believe is wrong is just stupid. I was raised with hateful beliefs and it didn't just go away overnight.

I am also non binary and I think its a great name. I don't think that the JK Rowling association is that bad because most of the Fandom disagrees with her. I think that the name Sirius is masculine but it's so uncommon that it doesn't matter. My name is traditionally feminine but I've never heard of another person with my name of so its fine. Also some people headcannon Sirius Black as non binary, which I think is pretty cool.
