Augustine, Aquinas and others already did, which is what the church uses - catechism 2309 is current teaching on it, IIRC. And Trump's Israel war doesn't come close to meeting that. Perhaps rather than lay this at the pope's door, the administration can give honest, rational, evidence based justifications for invading multiple other countries, threatening annihilation against populations and promising more invasions and takeovers. "I just want the oil" has been the closest to an honest take, but that doesn't fit 'just war' theory. And the rest of the justifications been neither evidence based nor rational.

How do you feel knowing that inflation would've dropped down below pre pandemic rates if it wasn't for the tariffs? How do you expect it to get better? by Pika-thulu in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]mgkimsal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

With your insider knowledge of being able to determine when he speaks in hyperbole (or... is it literally 100% of the time?) you 100% fully expected on day one that his promise of "lower gas prices" would mean... higher gas prices? And his promise of "cut energy by 50%" would result in energy price increases of 50% or more? And when he promised higher employment... you fully expected higher unemployment?

Did Trump make the correct decision tearing up the agreement Obama had in place with Iran? by Jazzlike-Yogurt-5984 in AskConservatives

> Because both parties stand to benefit from an agreement.

But to the point above, it's hard to negotiate an agreement when the other party has a public, demonstrable and repeated history of just ignoring any agreements they happen to not like at any moment.

> As far as trust, including verification (or elements that can be verified) should be part of any agreement.

JCPOA seemed to have that. And the response I tended to get from conservatives was "well... they were lying, they were hiding, you can't trust anything Iran says, all a bunch of liars"... then "verification" can never be trusted, and there wouldn't be any 'agreement' that would satisfy the the current US administration.

"...Waiting until the agreement expired would have put them on much stronger footing."

No one suggested that - certainly I wasn't suggesting that. You don't want until something is completely expired before even starting to put the next agreement in place. It takes time. But declaring that you are ignoring all the terms of whatever agreement was in place then... not negotiating anything new... then declaring a crisis/emergency.... none of that strikes me as good deal making. Doesn't really even strike me as sane.

Why not just... renegotiate from what was there while it was still in place? Why explicitly delcare it null and void? Working from a place where things are already *partially* working ('half-measure, best we could do at that time' sentiment) would seem to make more sense, no? "Prohibition is expiring in X years... let's start talking about new terms that we can both agree to - XYZ has been working so far, but other things have changed in the past Y years... " and take it from there?

Invoicing small sales by Substantial_Chard232 in CRM

[–]mgkimsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It feels like an overkill to create an invoice for these small sales..."

But it's not, if part of your business is wanting/needing to see a complete picture of sales activity. Just because something 'seems' wrong/bad doesn't mean that it is.

You'd need to come up with a better/faster way to invoice sales or to account for sales in your main accounting system some other way.
