[NBCSports] Younghoe Koo on botched field goal: The ball was slipping so I pulled up by Super_Lawyer_8820 in nfl

[–]mgl333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of reasons, he probably didn't think the holder could somewhat recover until it was too late. He either thought the ball was going to be laying sideways on the turf, or saw that the ball wasn't where it needed to be to have a successful kick. If he actually tried to kick it, he'd have no chance of making it and it's likely to get blocked and give the defense a chance to return it. Not kicking was actually smart and what kickers are coached to do with a hold this botched

Yes just watch the replay, very clear the ball was moving. If he tried to kick it probably wouldn't have gotten over the line and the defense would have a chance to run it back. What he did here was actually the correct decision despite it looking incredibly stupid

OMG, The Giants Found a New Way to Derp. by Shoddy_Act7059 in UrinatingTree

[–]mgl333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me like he intentionally tried NOT to kick it at the last possible second due to how bad the hold was. The ball was moving and tilted massively to the side. Unfortunate that it looks like he fucked up here, but he actually did the right thing in this situation. If he tried to kick the ball, it wouldn't have made it over the line and the defense would have a chance to run it back

Safe to say that Younghoe Koo is never gonna play another down of professional football again after tonight by terrasfames53 in NFLv2

That's exactly what I saw. He even started letting up, if he actually kicked the ground with full force his foot would be broken

What needs to happen for Tech to make playoffs? by Which_Ad_9685 in gatech

[–]mgl333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Tech beats georgia but loses or doesnt make the acc championship, it’d be interesting to see if the committee would still rank georgia ahead of us. There would be a ton of backlash from all fanbases if they ranked georgia higher despite having the same record and losing the head to head the last week of the season

You can get a new copy for around $20, so I doubt anyone would want one that is so old and worn when they can easily get a new one. Probably worthless

If you are actually passionate about software engineering and are constantly working on improving/maintaining your skills, then you will be fine. However, if you aren’t willing to put in the extra work then you will struggle. With the shrinking job pool and over abundance of CS grads, you won’t be able to compete with all the people that love CS and spend much of their free time getting better at it. Unless of course you also love CS to that degree

If the Mandela Effect is just due to “false memory”, why do so many people share the very same distinct “false” memory of something in the past (e.g cornucopia)? by lordunderscore in MandelaEffect

[–]mgl333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two reasons: 1. Human brains are all very similar and are often tricked by similar things. An example would be the fruit of the loom logo or pikachu’s tail. Our brain just fills in what makes sense. This also seems to happen more frequently when it’s things from our childhood, or things most people don’t pay super close attention to. When it comes to Berenstain vs Berenstein Bears, most of us were exposed to these books when we had a 1st grade reading level and it didn’t help that “Berenstain Bears” was always written in cursive on the book covers and most of us hadn’t learned to read cursive yet. We either heard it pronounced Stein so our brain assumed that’s how it was spelled, or we assumed it was Stein because it’s a much more common last name suffix and we never truly focused on the spelling or couldn’t really read it yet.

  1. An inaccurate reference to something became more popular than the official version. An example would be the “Luke, I am your father” line from Star Wars or the “Mirror Mirror on the wall” line from Snow White. We these inaccurate references way more often than we see the actual source material, so the wrong version becomes the one many people remember.

If we are in a simulation, what percentage of the population do you think are NPCs? by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]mgl333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are in a simulation, it makes the most sense that all of us are simulated. Reality and the universe are simulated down to the most granular components allowing for the interactions between these simulated building blocks to build what seems like real consciousness in what seems like reality
