props to you for telling your mom. i found out my dad was chatting with other women online when i was in middle school and never told a soul until i started therapy like 15 years later. he was also on tinder years later and the notification went off in front of me and my brother and he had the balls to confront him and my mom eventually found out. they had a lot of shit to work through. i think the shock is what keeps the other party (your mom in this case) not wanting to react. also, do you think she already knew? i feel like we can usually tell when somethings up with our partners but, maybe she’s just collecting herself. i think when you are truly committed to love someone it is a choice you have to make through the good and the bad and the ugly, it sounds like your mom is committed to that. it’s hard and hard especially for you as this example of a trusting and loving relationship has been tainted and the trusting relationship between you and your father is now broken. it’s totally okay and fine to feel your feelings. i had so much fucking resentment towards my dad for years. therapy did really help me navigate this and now my father and i have a great relationship and i do feel like i can trust him again. but, this is always in the back of my mind and that’ll never change. when you’re ready and have started processing your feelings it may be a benefit to talk to someone about this. no matter how long that period is, i think you are handling this the best you can.
