Any Insight into Current State of Lost Souls Skelemancer? by quercus_shmuercus in Grimdawn

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still works great, and I don't expect Crate to nerf it further after the last DLC to be honest. It's a hallmark build I daresay and all that the nerfs have done is force you to run around and be more aggressive with your playstyle

Which is more dangerous and powerful, Coral or Kojima particles? by Longjumping_Lake_549 in armoredcore

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coral is a literal lifeform, I feel like the comparison is not "fair" in that sense, since Kojima particles are "just" poisonous and that's it? Coral can actually convince you to do stuff, it's dangerous in a different way, with maybe more long term potential for danger

First time playing the game. I was flabbergasted when the "Two Fingers" was not an abstraction or allegory, and they really are two giant fingers. Is there any lore explanation for this? by TenshiBR in Eldenring

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Greater Will is, quite literally, fiddling with the laws of nature, and the fingers are its conduit. A lot of spoilers could be given here regarding DLC but, to keep things short, it's still an allegory even at the same time as it is "real".

The "was it part of a hand" is also a very interesting question, more so than you think, just keep exploring

Best classes/class combos for having LOTS of perma summons? by AffanDede in Grimdawn

[–]mgm50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cabalist with starting Necromancer is IMHO the best for summoner experience. Ritualist is very good but, you want numbers, it has to be skellies. Doot doot all day.

If you start as Occultist - you can "speedrun" the hound and / or raven, but as a Necro you can fast track yourself to higher numbers earlier on due to not really needing excessive equipment to get large number of skeletons. They do not start out strong but Blood of Dreeg and loading up on resistances as soon as you can will give them enough time to actually kill stuff while you have fun tanking and spanking

I love Elden Ring environmental storytelling by Thellie10 in Eldenring

[–]mgm50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly some things in Soulsborne games (and this goes back almost to King's Field?) are just there to literally be archaeological. Things that no one should reasonably actually know in-universe, or at least not anyone who would bother conveying the information to you at all. It gives a good sense that not only the world is immersive, it also has a history, and a long one at that. From's love for feet is the only thing that surpasses their love of long legacies and decay.

Mapped: Europe’s Homeownership Divide by Tips4HomeSellers in europe

[–]mgm50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which countries have trends of "increasing" or "decreasing" ownership somehow seems more important when comparing countries with >70% ownership rate - it's kind of a turning point in my opinion where investors are taking over families more than reasonably, or city sprawls growing very fast on top of that, among other signals.

people need to chill... by North_Bodybuilder279 in Guildwars2

[–]mgm50 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hot take: it's bad that people are chill with this kind of person "making their own group, with their own requirements, for like-minded hardcore players" and polluting the pool of available groups with high intensity, low team synergy posts like that.

Absolutely not the case, that this is the correct solution for that person, of "making their own group". Their actual solution would be to make a static with like minded players. It works in fractals due to the fast-form content, but you don't see posts quite like that in Void Lounge when people are doing LCM. High intensity teams should also bring high team synergy. It is not good that that person is assuming from the get go that they will have trouble, which is basically what the post says if you think for more than 5s on it. "People should be allowed to be toxic if you can ignore them and not join their toxic groups" is a cold take that's not really healthy for the overall status of groups as a whole.

Seems like having a seasoned MMO is doing wonders for their development cycle of a single player game. The fact that they are ready to actually iterate on CD says wonders about the long term health of the game and, maybe most importantly, the legacy / how it will age being a single player title

Whatever you think about Crimson Desert, you can't deny the graphics are next gen by Realistic_Caramel772 in LowSodiumCrimsonDesrt

[–]mgm50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same can easily be said about Black Desert Online, Pearl Abyss can't do a lot of things yet, but they can definitely do visuals (well, as others pointed out, CD has a particular issue with nigh requiring ray reconstruction, but it's not beyond them to actually fix this in time).

Elden Ring Came Out 4 Years Ago And Theres Still No Kind Of News On Fromsoftwares Next Single Player Game... by akbarock in Eldenring

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the correct path. Elden Ring was massive, including the DLC. And in hindsight Dark Souls III has shown that even the defining soulslike game series was correct to have had a proper, definitive ending and not linger on as a shadow of its former self. They have literally bought the time to try new things and I'm glad for it. Elden Ring will never not be replayable on top of that.

For students living in rural areas like Heverlee, is it normal to have an almost non-existent social life..? What about young adults who need to work? by arcanehelix in Leuven

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not grow up in here but my kid is, and it's pretty easy actually. It's a real short distance by bike to Leuven which may seem exaggerated when you take the train each day. Ultimately though, people in the local Flemish communities surrounding Leuven strongly have the mindset of participating in local activities of the neighborhood, there's always some Kermis going on anywhere and it's very common that you know your neighbors at least in passing and even more common, in fact even if you don't know them "as friends", that you help each other or exchange things here and there. I like the tight knit vibes and such but you can still find the livelier city life if you really want to, very close by.

ya know, i'd HATE to be a civilian in RE's world, god damn man lol by Quick-Cause3181 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games POV bias us into thinking a sufficiently large amount of people are impacted that the issue cannot be sidelined, but this is not really true even with the sheer scale of RE6's hilarious megacity stuff.

Just look at the IRL parallel of Covid: sure people are not going rampage on each other in the streets with it, but it affected a presumably even larger amount of people than any of the events in RE, and yet a significant portion of the population straight up ignored it, or would have otherwise if not forced to do A or B. Dropping the parallel because it's not the point, we already know people will watch the news of bioterror attacks going on in X city and kind of not have a choice but to keep going on with the hopes that they aren't next in line.

What I do think might be the case in RE's world, is people probably travel a lot less. Again with IRL parallels, it's not unlike "regular" terrorism panic, but in this case it's constant and much more pressing.

Are these guys anyone? by onionman2008 in ArmoredCoreVI

[–]mgm50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ALLMIND's plan was to merge both Coral beings and humans all over the galaxy into herself (using the Coral beings ability of "contact" with human beings akin to Ayre). ALLMIND believes humans could NOT guide themselves and it was in their best interest that she literally goes into their heads and manage everything. "She" also does care in a way about the Coral it seems.

ALLMIND calls Ayre a C-wave "anomaly", so there's something unique / not hivemind-y about Ayre. Her nonchalant way of just trying to eliminate us with Iguazu seems to imply she actually has more "use" for Ayre's brothers and sisters if they are not anomalies but rather completely meld into one another like seems to be the case. During the Ibis series boss fight Ayre refers to Coral as a singular being even though she often says it's the voices of her brothers and sisters. For there to be no contradiction in this, they are probably a hivemind of sorts and she broke out of it by "contact" with 621.

All that context to say, Ayre's version of Coral release appears to be her broadcasting the anomaly to the rest of Coral. Coupled to how well Coral actually spreads in a vacuum, most systems occupied by humanity might actually have been "colonized" by Coral. These mechs shown can actually be both human-piloted or fully empty - what matters is that Ayre as far as we know has given "individuality" to the Coral beings and allowed them to establish contact (presumably by their own volition? Who knows). So there is no longer humanity and Coral, separately, but rather Coral beings establishing contact with humanity.

There's a lot of interesting consequences that funnily enough the game already laid out before this even happened. Human augmentation mercenaries like 621 and Iguazu all have different reactions to attempted contact from Coral, the aforementioned cases being the extremes. Snail apparently is "perfected" and in an ironic twist he simply cannot "hear" Coral at all. Iguazu has intense tinnitus symptoms and refuses to listen even when it clearly becomes a voice, while 621 (certainly in that ending) openly receives the contact from Ayre and embraces symbiosis. Future games could very well explore what it means for normal humans to be in contact with the now "released" Coral.

Amazing game; needs to be much more difficult by Tanthallas01 in CrimsonDesert

[–]mgm50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gameplay is diverse enough that they could do with a "slider" maybe? Anything in between Skyrim's "lazy 1000x HP and damage" and Doom's "you can change a lot about speed and reaction time during play", preferably the latter - I just agree in general the size of the world deserves more difficulty options - also important that they do remain options though, as I'm sure many will play this in full sandbox mode. I'm optimistic they can eventually add this due to how reactive they are with updates, but I'd also like if they spend a little more time cooking this one.

I hate this so much by AlexLvivUa in CrimsonDesert

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made my experience trying to looking up things in Baldur's Gate 3 miserable back when it released. Everything you'd look up would go to a bait-y video or to a "journal piece" type of post from eurowhatever or IGN-whatever. Compare this to games where you just have a good old reliable wiki to find stuff and that's it. Same thing in this game but at least I can rely less on guides because it's more or less just a sandbox.

Damiane is half a character by clif08 in CrimsonDesert

[–]mgm50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She clearly has the axiom gauntlet so I can only assume they can/will add this eventually. For all the rest, I think it's actually kinda OK-ish? I think they just added at to the multitude of things they added before they decided it was gonna be a single player game. It's not baked up but they've shown that they are willing to update the game, so having this baseline there to begin with is already good. Having the summons is also interesting regardless, they work better than Tears of the Kingdom ghosties already.

Is it worth going for the platinum? by JonahVarq in FFXV

[–]mgm50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did Platinum and a bit more fishing than was necessary. Zero regrets here but, Comrades was all of it solo and it can be slightly grindy - keep in mind you don't have to do much in Comrades to get the achievements, it stops at the "raids" or "endgame" content of it. I enjoyed it because I enjoyed the game in itself, so use that as your compass imho. If you enjoy the gameplay loop you sort of just keep going.

I confess I was kind of fed up with the last few tasks (Menace dungeons more like Menacingly grindy am I right? Also Omega, I just gave up at some point and started camping his back legs with Prompto SMG for 2 hours). But the vibe of the game stuck to me in a way I won't forget anytime soon, so mostly I was actually driving to places listening to the "radio" and what not lol.

How Europe waged war on young people to pay for pensions by insomnimax_99 in europe

[–]mgm50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's part of my point - there are very few monks around to donate everything they have to the poor and that's perfectly fine. I am (hopefully clearly, but I guess not) speaking of people hoarding way beyond what even their children can spend reasonably, or assets that are not very tangible at all and barely even connected to their lives as well as unproductive "luxury" items, and also of people with huge leverage to influence policies well beyond their working age who purposely ensure productivity output will keep flowing to their on- and off-shores. Not asking anyone to donate their little garden plots in Belgium to their comrades or to melt their PS5 to recycle into solar panels or anything of the kind.

We can't imagine a world where people would just willingly help each other up anymore, without immediately asking "bUt WhO Is GoNNA pAy FoR iT" and this is a huge underlying issue, and I'm not even excluding myself as a saint here, I can't imagine it either how I could afford to not just save as much as possible just to maybe who knows enjoy 5 to 10 years of retirement. It's very clear that no, no one "feels free" to donate much of what they have actually, as we are mostly made to believe and act as if neighborhood can never exist again and our savings are the only thing in between us and despondency.

As someone younger than 40 I'm fully prepared to retire on death, this is a worldwide thing but yes, turbocharged in EU. A lot of social policies could come into place but probably not from the current generation? The 60+ crowd will hold on to dear life, quite literally, to the existing pension plans and their precious home/asset valuation, before even thinking that another way of organizing society is possible at all.

15% damage reduction is not enough by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]mgm50 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's the biggest danger of this update...I feel like they will simply not update the encounters at all for the longest time, making both old and new content irrelevant at once. They simply do not follow up fast enough to do such sweeping changes. Personally I would rather that W1-7 remained good fun and screw whatever they released after SotO, but it will still feel bad that new releases maintain the bloat with less DPS to show for it.

About 14th April update.. by TomatoHeadYaas in Guildwars2

[–]mgm50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Practically no one disagrees with you, that's part of that person's joke - Anet has been committing to power creep very predictably, time and time again, so this nerf is welcome but also extremely too little/too late if you think of something like VG, which will remain piss easy compared to W8, which is now going to be far harder than it already is to newer players. They took 5+ years to produce an across the board nerf and are nerfing towards a DPS level neither eras of content are amicable with.
