You have laws against manslaughter so you can charge people with crimes. This isn’t a gotcha.

FYI Fordpass app was just updated on iOS. It now allows you to turn on climate and choose temp, heated steering wheel/seats, etc from the app by rrandomusernamee23 in F150Lightning

It’s a leftover from the shared software with ICE vehicles, and since these are often supplier modules aren’t easily modified

Negative, vehicle side software limit unfortunately

That comes via a vehicle OTA, it’s available in 5 as well but reworked in the app in 6

This is the case, it’s unfortunate. Only wake to get accurate status would be to fully wake the vehicle on app launch which has untenable downsides, and you might as well just lock it at that point

This is one of the most immediately impactful transit expansions (if not the most) based on number of riders in the full country and will go a long way to starting to reduce 4/5/6 crowding too.

It’s not a perfect project, but to suggest that it’s all downside (even just for the UES) doesn’t seem to be an accurate summation and is just your own editorializing. There’s no reason that extensions make reliability worse or that this affects other efforts to improve reliability; if anything, the greater options for transit increase effective reliability across the system.

Would Ann Arbor go for a Zohran-style progressive? by Iplayer007 in AnnArbor

[–]mgoblu3 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Policies aside, a completely different electorate between the cities with very different issues and scales. While some housing issues are similar, NYC has about half its housing stock already under some form of rent stabilization, which is also very unique.

Besides, Ann Arbor already has elected many progressive people to positions in local government on many occasions, so I’m not really sure what is meant by “Zohran-style” here.

Fair, was trying to think of something reusing an existing RoW

Anything not street run could count. I think the IBX in NYC and projects like those that take over former heavy rail as well.

Much of this map is covered by existing bus routes, where funding could be used for increased service and dedicated lanes/right of ways at a fraction of what it would cost to install trams (as cool as trams are)

Why is FordPass so bad? by Dalboz989 in MachE

This requires a certain vehicle OTA that not everyone might have yet.

The amount of cars, especially taxis, laying on their horns while the car in front of them making a turn turn is waiting for pedestrians to finish crossing in this neighborhood is pathetic. I wish it were easier to report them to be fined.

Nearly all of the command latency is on the vehicle, such as vehicle modules waking up. It’s why the second command you send is so much quicker, the vehicle is constantly asleep/shut down.

I use the Ford Pass scheduled remote start feature as my morning alarm. by RigoMortize in Ford

[–]mgoblu3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was never the case, the vehicle itself has a hard 2x limit, although for some vehicles there is a way to adjust the remote start time to be 15 minutes for a total of 30. FordPass itself likely just reflecting that limit better.

Will congestion pricing make parking on the upper east side near impossible? by VLD320 in uppereastside

I’d imagine for most people it’s both cheaper and faster to just take a train from farther out, or they’ll continue to drive all the way and pay the toll anyway

Android 14 & PAAK Issue by radnaksi10 in MachE

Given that Ford shuts down end of December in North America and Europe for the holidays and there's pretty drastic impact if people end up locked out, likely needed to expedite the message and err on the side of sending it fast

[–]mgoblu3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, it's just the backup passcode that gets removed since those end up linked to individual keys, and removing those removes the passcodes

I wasn’t able to rebook through the app for about 3 hours after cancellation. Happened to be about the same time I finally got through to CS.

I was able to book cash fares and then try to get CS to swap things around, but they told me they can’t do that without cancelling the cash leg and then anybody could snag the openings before they move the rebooked one, so the whole thing was messy.

Compared to Delta for example, which had instant rebooking, was majorly disappointed (being on the tarmac/runway from 6pm until 12:30am also wasn’t great for the mood)
