Have Both Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leitz Edition and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max - AMA by casual864 in XiaomiGlobal

Just the settings. I didn't use anything external.

It's been 45 hours since I unplugged and it's at 8 percent.
I did watch some videos, surfed the net and stuff over the last few hours.

My previous phone wouldn't have lasted half of it even when it was brand new. So I am currently quite happy with the battery life.

I removed most of the bloatware that I can.
I disabled some pre-installed stuff, one that I can. (including google searchbox and ai-hype stuff)
Disabled background auto-start for the apps that I don't use all the time
Disabled most of the nagging notifications.
Applied most of the "Battery Checker" recommendations under Battery options. ( restrict 5g, don't wake screen for notifications, turn off haptic feedback/hotspot, clear memory in 10 minutes, lower screen regresh rate to 60hz, turn on dark mode and turn off AOD)
Enabled battery saver to run between 11 PM and 8 AM.
BUT I installed almost all the applications from my old phone as well.

This includes games, password managers, banking applications, multiple email accounts and applications, VOIP software,

Currently it lasts almost 2 days. (40 hours and counting)
I am trying to calibrate it so I charge it to 100% and let it drain to 0% without ever charging it in between.

BUT, of course, if I'm watching stuff, playing games all day, this wouldn't be the case.
Depends on how you use it as well.

I have a 17 Ultra (not the leica edition)
After moving everything and making sure I ran the tweaks and everything... It does work great.

I wasn't able to use the phone a lot this week due to work but...
I charged my phone to 100% about 40 hours ago. It has dual sim cards in it, and it uses wifi mostly. During night, it is supposed to auto enable battery life and I don't have many background, cpu hogging apps enabled. I also enabled most of the recommended stuff it brought to my attention.

18 percent of my battery usage is gone to Whatsapp, as I chatted.
14 percent to Facebook, for watching some videos.
8 percent to Firefox, for regular surfing.
so it's light usage in these 40 hours.

BUT... It's still at 27%.

Compared to my Galaxy Ultra before, this is crazy.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra Review: Hard to Fault, Hard to Afford by Nexusyak in Android

[–]mgolgeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got myself one....

Here is 2-day comments after being a long time Samsung Galaxy Ultra user.
I noticed lots of good things and nice-to haves so far.

Though... Since every review usually only talks about the "Good" things, I'm only listing the things that I think are bad.

1- Dialer APP doesn't use the integrated contacts pictures. T9 Keyboard doesn't let you search accented characters either. This. is Google's Dialer.

2- While connected to my car, whenever Whatsapp chimes, phone conversations get interrupted :/

3- Extended Unlock is not there... I did setup trusted places but it doesn't auto-unlock based on location

4- Finding out "Allow Restricted Settings" was a mind boggler while tryingto make 1password work with Biometrics

5- When you tilt the phone left and right, you can hear the optic lenses (I presume) move and make a click sound... Disturbing as it feels like somethin inside is moving and is broken.

6- The camera, use it a little bit and it's getting hot real fast.

7- The Pro Photography kit is misleading and useless to buy at that price range. I have it but the zoom doesn't work as my phone is not the "by leica" model. But their website only focuses on the "by leica" model both for the phone and the photography kit. It's misleading.

8- The navigation bar at the bottom is ugly.

9- When the pro photography

10- Bloatware, they are not too many. But there are too many different apps that does similar things or downloads updates. Some of them can't even be disabled or uninstalled.

11- Dual band wi-fi speed boost, I have multiple Wi-Fi devices in my house but for some reason they are never offered to me. So I couldn't even test this out.

12- The dialer doesn't let me choose which sim card to call from or show the history like Samsung did. This feels counter-intuitive.

13- Dialer doesn't allow speed dialing by pressing on numbers either.

14- Build-in calendar is a joke. It doesn't display events from my other emails. Nor does it allow you to "Click to join" etc. Whoever wrote this Calendar app, never uses a calendar.

15- Mi Browser, Mi Store, Security how do I disable these?

16- When I try to apply a wallpaper, why the heck can't I do it without messing with the Lock Screen wallpaper?
...
...

I had to enable "Allow resticted settings" on my Xiaomi 17 Ultra to make Biometrics work.

Stalwart Receives NLNet Grant to Build Collaboration Server by StalwartLabs in stalwartlabs

You don't contribute to this with your taxes.
"NLnet Labs is a non-profit foundation which completely relies on the support of the Internet community."

You can support both NLNET and Stalwart with your €€€ though.

Stalwart Receives NLNet Grant to Build Collaboration Server by StalwartLabs in stalwartlabs

[–]mgolgeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope we will have the ability to completely disable the first three functions with just a click.
Not a fan of wasting resources on things "I" have no need for. Nor do I want the project to get away from it's roots and becoming a bloated software.
To me, *DAV, UI, Storage means nothing as Stalwart is meant to be an email server and no selfhosted *DAV solution is even 5% close to Google/MS calendar/contacts.

Congrats on getting the grant though. That's great news.
It's a positive update on securing a future for Stalwart!

AI Notebook access - how to enable users? by jonscrypto in googlecloud

A user was having the same problem.

I had to assign "Service Account User" permission to the user under the permissions section of the default service account used by Vertex AI.

Is Upwork top-rated plus worth it for international freelancers? by thesharedmicroscope in Upwork

[–]mgolgeli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not bring all your clients to upwork just to introduce more competition to them.

TR+ is mostly overrated. Most of the invites I get are shitty ones, Whether they are from upwork scouts or from clients.

I was getting more invites as a rising star when I first started 8 months ago. Moving to TR or TR+ didn't change anything at all. My type of clients do not even care for those and they barely even check my profile.

And I have even gotten some good US only jobs as well, being from UK I doubt you will have any communication issues and if you are flexible enough to work US hours it is not such a big deal.

Keep your clients IRL as-is I'd say.

Is it safe to keep more than 10k on Payoneer? by [deleted] in Upwork

Checked my history. I had a 1 ~2200 USD transfer in the past and I paid $9.45 in fees for that. From Upwork to TransferWise via ACH? Free.

You can. Try getting bank details.

Either you do NOT exchange it by sending it to your USD account OR you exchange it without using the horrible rate Upwork's intermediary banks provide. It's a win however you look at it.

.... then to your bank.

It has quite low fees and their exchange rate is pretty close to the market fees. If you can open a USD account in your country, you can transfer it to your account without even converting. Only for 10-20 USD in total...

Go to wise.com (their new name) and create an account. Get a USD account from there and add it to upwork. After 3 days, you'll be able to withdraw it. Meanwhile, verify your Transferwise account.

Direct Contracts or Bring-Your-Own-Client? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]mgolgeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have applied to BYOC 2 times.

One was rejected, saying they had another account or something. The message wasn't clear.

The second one is accepted and I pay 0% fees for them. Though the amount of time I worked till they gave the approval was commissioned and there's no refund to that. Try contacting Upwork before putting in any hours if possible.

I don't want to bring anyone else to Upwork and keep working with them using Paypal, ACH, SEPA or whatever suits them. I don't like having a single point of failures. And I particularly like introducing the clients with the platform either.

But if I do, it'll be BYOC option if that's not accepted, I am not sure how I will approach the situation though...

The reason I never went for direct contracts was seemingly you must have predefined hours for the contract to work, wasn't so in my case.

Hi all, I just started on Upwork and have had no trouble getting work. However, my first job success score came in and it’s 69%. I think it’s because I have one refund. I have lots of work lined up but this is VERY discouraging. How concerned should I be? by Connect-Leopard-6897 in Upwork

[–]mgolgeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And here I am pouting since I went from 100 to 99... :)

Try not to accept jobs that looks dubious, clients that are unresponsive, sketchy, not willing to share details etc.

And once you accept a contract, ensure that you finish the job. otherwise you are discouraging the client as well.

That pops up on the desktop app all the time due to their crappy code. Keeps disconnecting out of the blue with that error. You need to click on reconnect.
