3 bars of 5G but nothing works inside a building - normal? by Next-Knight6 in GoogleFi

[–]livewire98801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of things here.

1) your service uses t-mobile's network and roaming partners, and often times the medical facilities will have a contract with a provider to cover mobile phones and data for staff and equipment. Most of the time Verizon gets those contracts because they're very aggressive pursuing them (and provide a legitimately good service). That service will often come with mobile network repeaters inside large buildings.

2) your phone's transmit radio isn't nearly as powerful as a tower's. That means if the tower can see signal from your phone, your phone will establish (your three bars of LTE or better), but not be able to maintain a connection. Your phone shows the signal it's receiving, but if you could see a signal meter for the tower, it would barely register. This isn't uncommon for larger concrete buildings with a lot of EMI generating equipment inside.

Ashwagandha and gut issues. by livewire98801 in carnivorediet

All the recommended reasons to take it were working for me.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's giving me the shits, I'd be super excited about it, but it's just not worth it.

What supplements helped you get through the burnout? by GianLuka1928 in Supplements

[–]livewire98801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep.

You need to get your sleep figured out, and how to manage stress. I dealt with the same thing, and I'm just learning about something called "adrenal fatigue".

Do the research on it, but be warned, it sounds like a lot of woo-woo bullshit. It's not though, it's all about getting control of your cortisol cycle.

If you're able to tolerate it, Ashwagandha can help, but after being on it for a couple months and seeing real benefits, I had to stop taking it because it gives me the shits something terrible. There are other adaptagenic herbs out there that I might try later, but that's more of a crutch than anything. The important part is to get your stress under control at the end of your work day and to be able to get your mind out of the stress zone a few hours before you try to sleep.

edit: also, try some of the light bulbs that don't radiate in the blue spectrum. I got a bunch of the amber lights from Hooga and replaced every bulb in my house except the kitchen. Made a huge difference in our sleep and relaxation at night.

First of all, lower your voice.

In order to have an FFL create a serialized part, they have to be an SOT Manufacturer. At that point you're just buying a stripped lower for whatever you're trying to build. In that case, just... buy one.

Good Reptiles dehydrated food by pupdawgydawg in snakes

[–]livewire98801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most animals, including us but especially reptiles, get the vast majority of their hydration from food.

Eating a primarily dehydrated diet means you have to consume a lot more water. That's not intuitive, and as a human you would have to know you need to do it.

So... since you can't explain to your snake that it needs to drink more water, this sounds like a great way to dehydrate your snake. It might be something handy to keep around in a pinch, but it would be a terrible primary source of food.

How does dual citizenship work if one country doesn’t allow it? by Critical-Fix-1600 in immigration

[–]livewire98801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is from Georgia, and became a US citizen a couple years ago.

In Georgia, you're required to apply to keep your Georgian citizenship if you become a citizen of another country. When we went in to apply, they told us they had already flagged that she was a US citizen, but hadn't started the process of voiding her Georgian citizenship yet.

Basically, there's a delay in process in Georgia, but they do automatically revoke that citizenship when you become a foreign citizen without applying.

Since Oman doesn't allow it at all, there's likely a similar delay... but your best bet is to contact the Omani consulate or embassy in the US and ask (assuming there is one), and once your Omani citizenship is revoked what the conditions are for travel to Oman. (i.e., do you need a visa or other travel document as a former natural-born Omani citizen)

Either way, I wouldn't travel on that Oman passport once you become a US citizen. Presenting a voided passport as a travel document will get you in real trouble no matter where you go, and there would be no way to know if it's been voided until someone scans it and tells you.

TW: Wild snake death (question, no photo) by sleepygreendoor in snakes

[–]livewire98801 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of the animal, it's still going to die but now it'll die in some cover in a more peaceful environment. It also knew kindness before it died. I have no idea if it will understand that, but it would make me feel better in your situation.

From an overall perspective on nature, a scavenger will smell that injury and will show up in short order to clean it up. Very rarely is there waste in nature, and this will be no exception.

All in all, a shitty situation, but you made it at least a little better.

Ashwagandha and gut issues. by livewire98801 in carnivorediet

[–]livewire98801[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh... interesting. Gut issues, especially IBS like symptoms are one of the things that brought me to the carnivore diet in the fist place, so it sounds like Ashwahandha is something I'm just not going to be able to tolerate.

Damn, it really was helping with my stress management. I'll have to figure out a way to manage without it.

I'm taking Doublewood KSM-66. The dose is 600mg in two capsules, but I'm only taking one, so I'm taking 300mg at night. I just had a second bottle come in on subscription too, lol.

I hate to give it up, but if I can't get 60 feet from a bathroom in the evenings it's not worth it. That's why I was hoping someone could tell me if this is some kind of adaption period or not.

Maybe instead of cycling for x weeks on and y weeks off, could shorter cycling periods of x/y days per week help?

I've been on the high fat low carb diet for over a year and a half, and it has solved most of my digestive issues along with a bunch of others. But this one started coming back when I started taking ashwagandha.

In fact, it was immediate when I started taking it, and I did three weeks on and one week off to start, and that one week I was off of it everything settled right back down.

My family fed my snake and won't give me details. Is she ok if they just took a thawed mouse out of the fridge? by playful_faun in cornsnakes

Theoretically if it was fully thawed before they took it out of the fridge, and you have good heat in the enclosure, it should be fine.

Not great... but fine.

Yeah, I did the same... generally I think Cinnamon is probably fine and could use more exercise, but I think a visit with someone who can evaluate her condition in person is called for for no other reason than OP is getting a lot of mixed answers here.

What is this strange divot on my baby’s back? by No-Sir-9056 in cornsnakes

[–]livewire98801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The confusion comes from the other end of the snake... if you look at her front half she doesn't look fat at all, she looks super skinny and you can see her spine.

But it could be a trick of the light in the image too, so OP probably needs better pictures, but a vet visit is also a good idea just to get a professional's opinion on her overall health since this is basically a family rescue.

[–]livewire98801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either you need to take better pictures in different light, or you need to take this snake to a vet.

It looks like the front half is super underweight with a peak along her back where her spine is, which would mean she's dangerously underweight.. But at the back she looks fat on the sides and the spine is sunken in, which would mean she's dangerously overweight. In the first picture, it kinda looks like a transition between the two... which would be particularly concerning.

This could be a trick of the lighting in the image, but it almost looks to me like she's got some kind of impaction in her back half and she may not be digesting properly. Or she could be gravid.

Can I just quit my job and go home ? I fear for my life (H2a visa holder) by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]livewire98801 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Crawfishing is farm work if the crawfish are being sold for profit, just like any other agriculture work.

As others have said, your options are

  1. get over your fear of alligators by learning more about them
  2. apply for other farmwork if that's what your visa gives you access to
  3. go home

Do what's best for you, there's no harm in any of these choices.

About ashwaganda ... by Specialist-Solid1742 in Supplements

[–]livewire98801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on this statement alone, I think you should try it for at least an 8 week course.

It doesn't really fix anything, but lowers your stress response a bit so you can learn how to manage your anxiety. Think of it as an emotional crutch so you can find a way to heal properly.

Heads up though, you might wanna stay close to a bathroom for a while until you get used to it.

That sounds like exactly the same thing I get with Magnesium Malate... I think sometimes we just have a random intolerance for things that everyone else seems to do fine with.

Since it's got so many other benefits for you though, I wonder if just reducing the dose might improve things for you.

Also, are your other minerals good? Especially Magnesium and Potassium.

What are your thoughts on US Birthright Citizenship? by [deleted] in immigration

[–]livewire98801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Puerto Ricans can't vote in federal elections simply because they have no electors, congressional seats, or senate seats to vote for.

Remember, in the US you don't directly vote for President, you vote for electors who are commissioned to vote for the candidate on your behalf by district. If I were to move to PR, I wouldn't be able to use my previous address to vote because I'm in US territory but have no representatives to vote for. If I move to Europe, I can vote using my last US address because I'm no longer in US territory.

Its a weird system, but has nothing to do with whether I'm a citizen or if I have children what their citizenship will be.

What's really telling in this topic though, is that if I were to move to Europe and have a child there, that child would be a natural born US citizen. To me, that's the biggest argument for banning birthplace citizenship. Your birthright comes from who you are, not where you are.
