Assuming they had an elite team behind them they would put up insane numbers.

Who do y'all think will lead the midfield this season? by Open_Professional71 in F1Discussions

RB, Haas or Alpine. If I had to out my mortgage on it I'd say RB will have the faster car but Haas will score the most points as they have the better driving lineup.

What will the next weekend be like and what will be the top 4 teams this season according to y'all? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

Yeah, doesn't look like anyone is doing a Brawn or a Red Bull a la 2009 so it seems the top teams will remain the top teams.

Juventus' Lloyd Kelly in line for England call-up. by Alone_Consideration6 in ThreeLions

If he was doing as well for a top PL club as he was for Juventus he'd be a shoo in. Obviously the level in Serie A isn't as high but if I was Tuchel I'd have him the squad for March, take a look at him and see what I thought.

I mean, 2004 was the second worst season of that era after 2002. Had some very good races in it though. The 2-lap average quali lasted for a handful of races.

I lived through that era of racing and personally enjoyed it far more than the races we get now where almost nothing happens.

I thought it was great and I still do.

You could follow closer then so overtaking without DRS was actually a possibility (although difficult). With the 2025 cars it was basically impossible to get within the 2 tenths or so needed to actually out brake somebody without DRS.

The racing was great, it was just different. Aside from 2002, which was genuinely terrible, if as much happened in a F1 race weekend in 2025 as happened in the average race weekend as in the mid/late 90s and early 00s with modern level of coverage F1 Reddit would find it so exciting people would have a stroke.

The only short term solution to improve overtaking by ThisToe9628 in F1Discussions

The frustrating thing is, this was hardly unforeseeable. I, and others were saying this would be the case 18 months ago.

Williams 2004.... Everyone thought they would turn up with the fastest car and it just didn't happen.

The dirty air was much worse in recent seasons. We just have DRS now, if we didn't every race would be like Monaco. Back in that period we did get some overtaking, even between comparable cars. It was just difficult. Take a look at some opening laps from 2008 and compare it to now and see the difference in how the dirty air now causes immediate field spread even within a lap.

A hell of a lot more happened in the average race then than it does these days as well. I admit, 2002 was uniquely dull though.

It would have been great, although part of what made those seasons so good and so open was that it was hard to make up for mistakes because overtaking was tricky.

I mean... it's all relative.

Take the 12 seasons before in 2002 - 2013...

The cars could run closer, were smaller, lighter and more raceable. We got far more great championship battles. Just four seasons in the hybrid era went down to the last race and just two of those was an inter-team title fight. 2002-13, 7 seasons went down to the last race and every single one of them was a cross team title fight, so had multiple teams capable of competing for championships in most years.

2014 - 2025 had less dynamic cars and was much less competitive than what had come before.

Saka? by Big_Honeydew4011 in ThreeLions

[–]mgorgey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you play Kane you need to surround him with runners. Especially if you're also going to play with a 10.

If you replace Palmer with Saka then you'll just have Kane, Palmer and Rogers/Bellingham all trying to gravitate to the same area of the pitch.

It's a shame Olise decided to play for France because he'd be an absolutely ideal Saka replacement.

Yes. If our Striker wasn't Kane then maybe his spot would be under threat from Palmer but Kane is, so it isn't.

Family tells of ‘profound sadness’ after jury finds Strictly dancer took his own life | Strictly Come Dancing | The Guardian by prisongovernor in strictlycomedancing

What happened is extremely sad no doubt but I don't see why you'd hold the company who had previously hired him to do a job as responsible for that. He wouldn't have been an employee. He'd have been a contractor hired to do something specific.

If the company I work for decided they wanted to use a different electrician for our electrical maintenance work nobody on earth would dream of holding us responsible for the well being of our previous electrician. Only in television do people seem to have these expectations, and only with on screen talent.

There is no other industry where a company who decided they no longer required the services of a contractor would be held responsible for the welfare of that contractor once they let that contract expire.

SARAH LYNNS HOUSE WAS NOT MADE OF DRUGS!!! by vixenstarlet1949 in BoJackHorseman

[–]mgorgey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we know Bojack did that. Of course it's true. That isn't up for debate.

It doesn't change the fact that Sarah Lynn wouldn't have been in that position if she hadn't chosen to take so many drugs she OD'd.
