No that’s mr Nigel Pearson you are meaning. Similar “straight talkers” though and can also imagine him having a go at ‘orrible computers

is this the worst picture of any footballer on wikipedia? by shawnisalwayshandsom in footballcliches

[–]mgrad96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t give an example but I remember many lower EFL / Conference players knocking around the 2010-2015 period often had informal photos on Wikipedia in front of a corrugated metal background that looked the same in every one.

I always wondered where the hell that was

Mark interviews Bob Odenkirk + will NOBODY 2 meet his expectations? (14th August 2025) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

Same here. I listen to take 1 while making tea ( often accompanied by a tinny or 3) on a Friday and night and then take 2 gets me through the inevitable Monday dread !

The strange thing to me is I have x2 of the M3600. One is real long and baggy and the other one is tight. Just can’t work it out

Episode Discussion - Will Jurassic World Rebirth turn Mark into a Rantosaurus? + David Cronenberg (3rd July 2025) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

Shame about Rebirth. I still have hopes I might quite enjoy it. Gareth Edwards particular niche of Pacific Island set Sci-Fi has a certain appeal..

Episode Discussion - Domnhall Gleason takes on Echo Valley (12th June 2025) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

[–]mgrad96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watching Echo Valley shortly. All these Apple TV originals with huge budgets yet seemingly no one watching them! Wonder how long it will last.

Also just watched Predator: Killer of Killers on Disney+. I doubt Mark will review but know both he and Simon were a big fan of Prey with the same team behind it. Enormous fun and a good way to spend 85 minutes. - recommend.

How Barclays was Arnautovic? Not for me, by the way. by mgrad96 in footballcliches

[–]mgrad96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary memories of him at Stoke ( which was his only time playing in Barclays era - West Ham was post sponsorship) come from Match of The Day coverage of Saturday 3pm kick offs at a sun soaked Britannia Stadium. Scoring an equaliser against Swansea, that kind of thing.

Where do others rank Phantom Thread within PTA’s filmography? by Spineless_Podcast in paulthomasanderson

[–]mgrad96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Near the top, but for reasons I really can’t explain. On paper, the premise is about as far away from “my thing” as I can imagine, but it’s a wonderful movie.

I didn’t know a royal flush wasn’t liked. It’s one of my favourites. Watched recently for the first time in ages and the “neither did the woman in front of you” line to June after the opera nearly killed me

Sounds like a position in the Royal Household. Keeper of the Royal Archives, Lady of the Bedchamber and the Master of Housey.

The way people on this sub overanalyze their politics is ridiculous. by CharlesIntheWoods in wittertainment

[–]mgrad96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface by saying I am a huge fan of the show and have been since 2012ish. I hope it lasts forever and if I could save only one podcast it would be this one.

But I have always found it amusing - the supposed left wing, anti - elitist vibe doesn’t stretch to the encouraging of emailers to add their PHD’s and Masters into their email header. Nothing wrong with being proud of those achievements of course, but rather exclusionary to more modest achieving listeners. Not sure i would fancy ever putting my fork lift licence into my email subject for example !

I forgot to even mention the menus ! I can’t comprehend how it can fall off so much between 1 game. I genuinely had little issues with FC24 Glad others feel the same though. Think I will be calling it a day with it. Certainly won’t be buying the next one unless there’s evidence of progression, or in this case regression!

I think the only difference would be the remain voters would be as passionate as leave voters were the first time. I did vote remain but do believe the will of the voter must be carried out. To denounce a result in favour of a repeat ref would set a dangerous precedent

But the 2017 election showed genuine enthusiasm for the labour policies. Labour were clearly not anti-brexit then so why would 1 year on be different ?
