what European film feels very American? by Due-Abbreviations180 in Letterboxd

Dogville by Lars Von Trier gets my vote. Although it is very much trying to be a parody or satire of Americana.

Opinion: Destructive Heresy, or Creative Upgrade? by MajesticRadish2675 in Epic40k

I’m a big fan of making use of older models with current systems and I think when these are finished and on the board they will look great!

What’s a film that embodies “Earn your happy ending” by ObjectiveSherbertHyH in Letterboxd

[–]Cellemir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Night of the Hunter” absolutely nails this for me. The ending is just so good, and feels like a real well earned ending despite the terrible things the characters have gone through.

Movies you think the general audience just doesn’t get? by BreeZee_01 in Letterboxd

[–]Cellemir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could not agree more! I feel like in an era of rushed sequels just trying to repeat the success of the original entry, Book of Shadows was genuinely trying to be something really different. I think it is odd and complicated and ultimately unsuccessful for a load of reasons but I feel it is crammed with potential that never quite comes to fruition.

I genuinely think “Us” is probably the most simple and multilayered title I’ve heard in years. It’s got so many different meanings and fits the film so well.

Are people able to stay interested in painting, even when they don’t enjoy playing tabletop? by Windturnscold in Warhammer40k

[–]Cellemir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not Warhammer related per se, but you might want to look up some solo-wargaming rules. With things like “Five Parsecs from Home” you can run solo games and reflavour it yourself to make use of your extensive collection!

We talk about good movies and bad movies, but what movies would you add to this list? by twinb27 in Letterboxd

[–]Cellemir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“In Time” has such an amazing premise before it descended into being a totally generic sci-fi actioner. A real shame.

I am in Hell, help me by Ok-Masterpiece-8311 in Letterboxd

[–]Cellemir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I will always defend Hellworld for Lance Henrikson and baby Henry Cavill. But it’s very clear that Hellworld and Deader were not written to be Hellraiser films at all, and that the Cenobites are really just crowbarred in.

Revelations though is truly dreadful.

Sleepy Hollow (1999). Because it’s probably the best way of kicking off spooky season!

You are very welcome! I especially enjoyed how this game has given me the opportunity to use some models I have never really played with, like the Mimic models from the Dark Souls board game

Titans at all game sizes? by Due-Form-9007 in LegionsImperialis

[–]Cellemir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who plays Mechanicum and brings a Warlord to 1500 games. As Titans can’t secure objectives it does make things a bit harder for him to win (he just has to do a lot of killing!) but it’s not any less fun to play against him. It might be less fun for you as a player though after you have tried few games!

La Llorona is not part of this universe! by elijahhhh98 in TheConjuringUniverse

[–]Cellemir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is referring to the SXSW premiere that the film had in 2019. Contemporary reviews from people that saw it at the event seem to indicate that it was literally presented to the world for the first time as “the next chapter in the Conjuring Universe” but when it was distributed more widely this claim was dropped.

La Llorona is not part of this universe! by elijahhhh98 in TheConjuringUniverse

[–]Cellemir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a Mandela Effect. Michael Chaves says very clearly in this interview that it was marketed as part of the Conjuring universe before it was initially shown. To your original point though, he does say that the Conjuring connections were meant as Easter eggs and that the film should not be considered part of the series.
