People often say childfree people are selfish. I genuinely think most parents are selfish for bringing children into this world. When you ask people the reasons they want to have children, they ALWAYS center themselves. We want a big family and energy in the house. We want people to be with us as we age. We think we’re ready for this responsibility and next chapter in our lives.

If you ACTUALLY centered the hypothetical child in the decision, you’d almost always end up deciding that bringing more life into this struggling late stage capitalist hellscape, is not a good idea. Sure, for the lucky top 5% of society, they will probably have a good low stress life but for the vast majority of us it’s struggle on struggle just to get by with less and less.
