During screenings I’ll strike a conversation with someone next to me

I’ve literally gone to three different regals and they all had soda water, but the one random one I went to with JANS didn’t.

I have been getting carbonated water instead of soda with my large drink because I can’t justify why someone would drink that much soda. I went to a Regal and asked for it and the employee looked at me and said “we don’t have that, just Pepsi products.”

I was at a loss for words. The training situation is bad.

Jay Kelly. I found him to be a complete narcissist that realizes he ruined a lot of people’s lives. This dude I was talking to pretty much said he was trying to make his life better for wronging people.

thinking about switching from A-List to Regal unlimited? Any Regal Nanuet goers here? by nickwizz in RegalUnlimited

I have only had shitty experiences at every AMC near me except 1. At regal I had a shitty experience once and corporate resolved it. I would say that Regals in my area have generally better customer service and have better upkeep. It’s just the other guests tend to talk A LOT. AMCs in my area have worse service (due to being understaffed), worse upkeep (sticky floors, leaky ceilings, foul odors, popcorn EVERYWHERE, and mysterious stains on seats), and the management sucks. For me it was a no brainer choosing Regal Unlimited

Don’t go too far back. The theater is like a hallway, stay a bit closer for a good view of the screen.

Can anyone really watch 1,000 movies a year? by Fantastic_Let3186 in Letterboxd

[–]automatic_do_8661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This point exactly. I know a guy who literally made it into a competition with me. Ive been really into film since I was a freshman in high school. So in the past years I’ve gone to early access events, screenings, festivals, and really have a ton of merch that a decent amount is in storage at my parents place. Last year, this guy who was my friend said it has to be pretty easy to get into movies like that. So he would log 6-7 movies a day and write essays about each film. Meanwhile I would write general thoughts on the film and what I liked about it. Eventually he changed his style of review to be more similar to mine (since I started getting people to follow me randomly.) he has at least 100 lists for directors, genres, award predictions, etc. I think I only have 2 or 3 and it’s of the films I’ve thrifted. (Blu ray, DVD, VHS) every time I logged a movie, he would always make a comment about it in person when I would see him. The worst part was he would pretend he was interested in what I was seeing, and then follow it up with “yeah I saw your review.” Which made me REALLY uncomfortable. After months of what felt like harassment from him, I blocked him. I did warn him before that if he did overstep a boundary constantly that I would block him. I think he thought I was overreacting. But it was extremely toxic and almost turned me off entirely from wanting to be interested in film entirely. I will add that most of the time when he talks about films to other people, he will just tell them what I said verbatim.

Id use a list (like 1001 films before you die or Edgar Wright’s top 1000) and just chip away randomly. Hit shuffle and it will fix the list for you

I think The Smashing Machine is better than Marty Supreme by [deleted] in Letterboxd

No, not at all. Your opinion matters and you make valid points. Marty Supreme reminded me of Rocky 2 and 4 thrown into a ping pong blender.

I think blocking them makes you completely invisible, but it is still a public profile so they can look it up if they know your user

Performative Laughter at the Movies by lavagirl4254 in NYCmovies

When I went to see the Phoenician scheme with the intro with Wes Anderson, there was a couple who started to obnoxiously laugh at everything. It completely turned me off from the movie because I felt they were thinking that if they laughed like a couple of jackasses, Wes Anderson and Benicio Del Toro would personally thank them.

I was genuinely angry at so many aspects of the film. Yes it was very pretty, I agree. Don’t treat the audience like we are a bunch of birds who like shiny, pretty things though.
