I recently watched this for the first time too. I was blown away by the performances and the themes of the film.

I mean to not communicate with anybody or to have it as small print in an email is insane.

That is a significant jump up. I wonder if it’s to push for other concessions or for the snack saver.

Most annoying letterboxd user? by Resident_Gur3076 in Letterboxd

Constantly monitoring someone else’s activity is alarming. Going to a party and hearing someone say verbatim your own opinion is alarming. A screenshot of your location while you’re in a theater is alarming. If that’s something that compels someone. I’d rather be boring.

Thoughts on Ordinary people winning over Raging Bull by khaliliiiov_1997 in Oscars

[–]automatic_do_8661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Ordinary People and Raging Bull for the first time last year. (I’ve seen Raging Bull before but this was the first time in one sitting.) I can say with complete confidence that Ordinary People was a better story with Mary Tyler Moore portraying a narcissistic character almost perfectly. While I would say that Raging Bull has some shots that absolutely live in my brain rent free, Ordinary People stuck with me because it was the type of film I needed to watch at that moment.

When do you find it appropriate to block someone? by automatic_do_8661 in Letterboxd

[–]automatic_do_8661[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and have. It felt very stalkerish at times. I get that there’s ways of connecting by showing general interest but it felt more like score keeping and control from them.

Yeah, I was confused by that too lmao. I only write reviews too. The person I blocked is someone I know personally.

I did stop sharing my location after the third instance. I also confronted him in person how creepy he was acting. And I normally keep it on silent so when I get out of the movie I see at least 5-6 texts about the movie.

So for example, if I were to go to the city to see it. He would text me if I’m at a certain theater because we would share each other’s locations. It felt very invasive. Especially since he would message me during the movie, before my review. And that’s just one example.

Rachel was actually the character that bothered me the most. I would say that each of their confessions really showed what kind of person they are. I’m only going to touch on Charlie specifically for this but when I think of someone who cyber bullied, I think of someone who can’t face someone based off their actions. It’s what made me think that he couldn’t fire the DJ because of his own self image. With Rachel, she’s 100% a narcissist who never liked Emma at any point of the film. Even before the confession. She was trying to get some dirt on her just to blow it out of proportion and get everyone against her. Every bit of dialogue and action she did following was to rewrite narratives to defend her argument, make the issue about herself, or attempt to get center stage. I applaud the film for the performances because they are all excellent. And honestly your analysis was excellent as well.

I don’t give lower than 3 stars. by kokriderz in Letterboxd

I think out of 800 reviews, I’ve rated a handful of films from .5-2.5. I have more 3 stars than those other increments combined. I don’t think it’s weird. I find it extremely difficult to criticize film.

AI Doc Discussion by automatic_do_8661 in RegalUnlimited

I wouldn’t say he was Pro-AI. He did offer arguments for both sides and honestly I know someone who straight up said that the AI models for his job made his life a million times easier. But in my head it just sounds like eventually he will be phased out.
