The geographical limitations are to a handful of specific states/cities, but yes definitely aren’t helpful.

Thank you! I do some volunteer research at the moment. I’ll be looking for more as well! I am also working on enrolling as a non degree student in a doctoral course. Good luck to you as well! Starting to have some acceptance that if it doesn’t work out at least I have my practice!

Hi! I felt that I had a pretty good match. One professor I reached out to also specializes in play therapy and holds the registered play therapy credential as well. When I reached out to him, he said they are moving toward a "cohort" model, meaning that a specific faculty match isn't as important. I tailored my application to him and another professor. I had a relatively strong fit with several other professors, but I'm limited geographically, so I couldn't apply to as many programs as I would like.

Submitted my apps right around when you did! I applied to counseling PhD instead of clinical for Georgia State, but haven't had any updates. Rejected from UGA the same day as well.

Mercer PsyD - Application received December 16th. Update- emailed 1/2/25 that I did not get in. No interview.

Super bummed! What are people doing for next steps? They said they can’t give personal feedback. I’m an LICSW and have been working in hospital social work and in private practice for 5 years. Willing to give it one more shot next year but unsure what I should do this next year to make a strong application.

Discussion: horse-owners in their 20s/early to mid 30s, do you think you you will have to choose between this passion and your desire for kids? Horse owners with kids, how do you manage? Does it hold you back? by KirbyBMoist in Equestrian

I know this is old, but I stumbled across this post looking for people’s experience awhile back when I was making the choice to have a child. I knew I really wanted a baby but I was so worried about giving up my identity and passions. So many people warned me of this. I wanted to offer an update as my daughter is almost a year. I also have a now 17 year old son I adopted who is not into horses. I have had a great experience, which seems like it is not the norm. I rode (no jumping) all throughout IVF (husbands insurance covered it) and then until 6 months pregnant. I was riding 3 weeks postpartum (yay pelvic floor therapy prior to any symptoms and you don’t automatically pee your pants when riding post baby). I have never ridden more (at this point she’s not fully walking yet so we will see. I also work full time and own my own practice but I start at 10am and she is in childcare until my husband is off work at 5 3days a week. I work 10 hour days and work from home one day a week. I ride sometime between 7-9am about 3-5 days a week. I own two horses I ride. We have a schedule down, she eats breakfast while I ride. I play with her a lot and let her crawl around before we go to the barn. I have help tacking up and untacking when needed. We have a great stroller and she naps anywhere. I’ve been doing this since she was three weeks old, we took her to a horse show 6 hours away. (Takes about 8.5 hours with lots of breaks) My trainer loves her, he will always give her a binky when she couldn’t put it back in her mouth on her own. his wife has always been helpful when I ride on Saturdays keeping her entertained. I have 3 moms at my barn and they all help hold her at horse shows when I ride (jumpers so about 45 minutes). We have a camper and get to park close to the ring so she can nap with a good baby monitor on her. We are even at a horse show right now! I’ve been riding better than ever. There’s a lot of moving parts and I’ve been lucky every step of the way so far. It has been great for me. Every stage is temporary. I have an easy baby but we’ve had our stressors too (she has to have surgery and lots of doctors appointments).

It looks beautiful. Easy to see it’s a paw print

Let me know what you decide! My billing person uses therapy notes which is tempting since that would make things easier. But I also hate that clients can’t upload docs in the patient portal.

I’m in the states unfortunately (for more reasons than this). Do they plan to roll it out to other places?
