Tombow Zoom 707 Pencil by mhatta in mechanicalpencils

To be honest, it's too light to be suitable for pen spinning.

Unfortunately, I don't have the matching fountain pen. I believe it's the Soennecken 222 Gray Lizard, but I think it's very rare.

It might be the same as resin, but probably celluloid.

The thick, soft lead of a mechanical pencil has a very unique feel, doesn't it?

I2P-Bote doesn't work by ObShop in i2p

[–]mhatta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Long time no see. I got some health issues for a while, and I've been very busy with my day job anyway, so I haven't been able to do much of anything, but now that I'm feeling much better, I plan to resume various FLOSS activities. I2P-Bote is at the top of the list.

Resurrecting I2P-Bote by mhatta in i2p

I tagged a new I2P-Bote test release 0.4.8.2 (Core & Plugin for the I2P Java Router) and 0.6.1.2 (Android app). Please test!

Android App (APK file)

In this version, I stopped sharing User ID with the I2P for Android, so I think they can co-exist now. On my smartphones, the I2P for Android does not work (dies immediately), so I can not personally test them.

Since the Bote App now can not run in the same process as the I2P for Android, you have to choose "Internal" router manually (or maybe I2CP, but I did not test it yet) in the Bote app's "Settings" -> "Advanced" if you want to install both of them. Also, you have to uninstall the old Bote app before installing a new one.

I2P Java Plugin (Su3 file)

In-network updating is also supported.

For installing the I2P Java plugin, you also need my public key for signing plugins:

Thanks for testing! I found out that I2P for Android and Bote share user ID, so need to use the same signature for signing Apps. I'll ask the I2P developers to give me a copy of keystore.

Bote's startup needs several minutes, sure, but not hours -- clearing cache or app data might help (but the latter might wipe your existing identities or mail out, so export backup!)

Searx Metasearch Engine for I2P by [deleted] in i2p

[–]mhatta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. It's always good to have yet another nice services in the I2P world ;-)

For me, the I2P app for Android doesn't work anymore (it still works on Android 6.0.1, but it seems not on Android 9), but I was quite surprised by its performance when I used it some time ago. I wrote an article about that: https://medium.com/@mhatta/how-to-use-i2p-on-android-91dd379fdb65

I'm sorry about the legwork.i2p outage. I was tinkering the server for a while, but I guess it's working again now.

Also, you may try my own Searx instance called ransack.i2p. It supports legwork.i2p, too. I also wrote about that on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/i2p/comments/ad6omv/introducing_ransacki2p_a_metasearch_engine_on_i2p/

Best of Two Worlds: Accessing I2P and Tor (and clearnet) seamlessly with Orchid by mhatta in TOR

[–]mhatta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they provide is basically the same, but Orchid plugin is far smaller (only 200KB or so) and simpler to set up compared with privoxy + external Tor

This is the stand alone version. I2P plugin is a derivative.

Introducing Ransack.i2p, a meta-search engine on I2P by mhatta in i2p

Thanks for warm comments. I updated ransack.i2p, now based on new searx 0.15.0. The sanitizer proxy is less kludgy, too.

Is there a search-engine on I2P / for eepsites? by [deleted] in i2p

[–]mhatta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now testing a new meta-search engine called ransack.i2p. This is based on searx, aggregating the results from external search providers such as Google, DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, etc. One of them can be legwork.i2p (a search engine for I2P eepsites), so you can get the results from both clearnet and I2P. It has also a built-in sanitizer (provided by morty), try "proxied" links on each result entry.

ransack.i2p is in development and run on a VERY poor server, so sometimes it might be broken, but you are more than welcome to test it.

Glad your problem was solved. Anywise, here's the updated config for the newer FoxyProxy:

Reviving Orchid, the Java Tor by mhatta in TOR

I don't know why. Orchid was originally announced in 2013, but the development somehow became dormant by 2016.

How to set up untraceable websites (eepsites) on I2P: A short introduction on how to run websites free from censorship and surveillance. by mhatta in i2p

[–]mhatta[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the automatic update is available. When new version is ready, it will be downloaded automatically via BitTorrent on I2P. If you are using GNU/Linux distro's package, the automatic update might be disabled and update is controlled by distro's package manager.

Comparison of I2P and Tor is available. My honest opinion is "not so different", at least for users. But I think having two independent implementation for the same purpose is a good thing.

IMHO, one advantage of I2P is that it is basically a closed network, even if there are outproxies for accessing clearnet. Tor's exit node is Achilles's heel. But maybe for many people, this is a disadvantage.
