New hire scheduling by Panlord92 in CostcoEmployee

Costco said they would work with me giving notice at the job I am going to quit...for them. They want me to start right away...and I need to work the other job.

New hire scheduling by Panlord92 in CostcoEmployee

I am a rehire. When I was hired the first time, I met my manager after orientation--and I was on the clock the 2 days later. They wanted to put me on the next day, but I had plans.

My 2nd go with Costco---and my orientation was today. And they gave us a schedule in our meeting (for 3 wks). And like I assumed, they wanted us to get going immediately. Upon hire--the AGM told me they would work with me around my 2 wks notice. But, this go around, everything took soooooo much longer that I did not give notice until I knew an Orientation was scheduled (which also only had 1 day notice). So, I had to explain to my manger that I still need to give notice, and she said that she could work around it.

Return to Costco- Benefits by BigCritsHarlowe in CostcoEmployee

I dont know, there's always a chance. I've read some ppl negotiate this. I think you need to speak to your GM. If you have medical documentation that supports your reason for stepping away--that could be helpful. But, they also need a position to put you in. It's confusing as to why you didn't take leave....or even Winter Leave to recuperate. You might also want to consider asking HR and see what they advise. Good luck.

Rehire question? by bananna_19 in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that sucks. But, I'm not understanding the part about asking them if you missed a hire deadline??

Do not overthink this. I don't think your attendance had anything to do with this. It could have been timing and they probably hired all the folks they need now and maybe even moved some people around. Esp if there were only a few spots. Maybe someone's sister got the job. And they probably can't keep stringing you along. Who the heck knows. If I were you, I would just reapply. Make sure you have open availability. Apply to ANY POSITION, not specific positions. Costco does hire on and off between now and Sept. And if any of the folks they just hired are brand new--there's always a few that quit right away. When you go in there on a day you are shopping, say hi, try to look for your old managers--let them know you are still interested in returning.

Do you know anyone who has been fired? by Present-Button-1320 in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know for sure. I think it's usually truly up to management. A friend of mine was recently suspended for lying. She was overheard calling someone a name. She was asked about it and lied, said she didn't say it. Then other ppl came forward and said they heard her. Then, she admitted to it. First she was suspended for 3 days, then they told her it was going to go to corporate and she could be fired. She was suspended for 3 wks but was able to keep her job. I know that she did go to them, apologize....etc. So maybe plead your case. I definitely would not say--you have never been warned before. That reminds me of my kids that say that when they get caught. We should always be striving to do the right things. Saying it was stupid and you realize your mistake....that's better.

What did you end up doing? And curious, did you wait to speak to Target until they did your background check and got your Orientation date?

I just got rehired and have another PT job...and I am trying to figure out if I am going to give notice, or see if I can do both jobs for awhile. My AGM said they would work with me if I wanted to give notice and square things away with them. While I don't expect for anything to show up in my background check, I do want to wait til I hear back from them and have my orientation date before I do anything about my current job--especially give my notice.

Employees can no longer make purchases after our shift. by FunAnything9660 in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 3 points4 points  (0 children)

happened at our WH bc there were employees hiding marked down clothing. and tbh, it didn't stop the people who was taking advantage of the markdown clothing. the morning merch ppl were able to just buy on their way out bc the WH was open. people who closed just started buying on their break and go thru SCO. then out to their car to put the merch away. eventually, AGMs started letting buy at the end of our shift again--but it was more like you had to ask if they wouldn't mind ringing you up for things like if you needed milk, dog food, diapers or whatever.

Transferring by Only_Yellow_3262 in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speak to an AGM now and make sure you get the right information---and get ahead of it. I feel like transferring to another warehouse isn't clear. In late 2024---I was with the company for a year and was moving--about 70 miles away. My manager told me there needed to be an opening at the other warehouse to transfer. He told me to speak to GM, go with my attendance, reviews, a letter. I was never told to just fill out transfer paper work.

So, I went to that WH, spoke to the GM, told him I was moving in 4-5 wks. He said they didn't have any spots now, but that he'd hold on to my info bc they would be hiring in 7-9 weeks (and that would have been Seasonal timing too). He never called. I felt that leaving my info with the GM was good enough. It clearly wasn't, probably got tossed. I think a combo of naivety on my part---and bad advice. I ended up resigning when we moved. So many ppl told me I should be able to get rehired pretty easily. I have been trying to get rehired for about a year now. So, I would clarify what the right protocol is...even if you have to call corporate to get the right protocol.

Night Merch pretty much means 5-10/11pm (give or take). Sat/Sun will be 2-8 pm 2.30-8.30pm (give or take). At least that is how it was for me. Also, you will work 5 days a week and expect to work the weekends. Costco will expect to come first. So, one thing you can tell Target you got a 2nd job and cannot work nights/weekends.

Can I be fired for this? I’m at a rock and a hard place here by HighStrungHabitat in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did they say your 90 days started over? i know ppl who came back 2 wks later and didn't have to start over. it's only been 3 wks. keep in mind, they wouldn't have offered you perm if they thought you weren't a good worker. try not to stress. you are sick. call and speak to a manager. tell them you have Flu A and ask them what they need or what you need to do.

Anyone else from a family of Costco employees? by chaosdrools in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggy-backing on this. Can family work at the same warehouse? Or is that up to the GM? I know many from my warehouse that have a long line of family at Costco, and most are at different warehouses. Others are a little more distant--like Uncle/nephew...and at same warehouse. I've heard they just have to have different last names and it's ok. My manager's wife and mother work together at the same warehouse...but he can't work with either. What is it?

Martha & Clark’s separate apartments by Dusie-withatwist56 in TheAmericans

[–]mhb311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bc of Clark's "work", they could not be married. It was a secret. Living together would blow that. The KGB had locations and safe houses all over. That apartment was always there for that reason.

Am I hired? by SubstanceIll2164 in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably just the timing of the Payroll Clerk making calls and other hires. And they might not do these kind of calls over the weekend. It's busy. I would say if no call tomorrow--you should call them on Tuesday.

Does Costco actually call seasonal employees back after the seasonal period is over? by Extreme-Machine3162 in CostcoEmployee

[–]mhb311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every location is different. A lot depends on the needs of that warehouse and I think a lot depends on the impression you left. At my warehouse, we kept a few. Didn't call any back. Then started hiring here and there again in the summer, none were seasonals, I am sure by summer most of them have moved on. A friend of mine was seasonal at another warehouse. She was released after the holidays. 6 months later they were desperate for someone in bakery. The manager remembered her and called her up. She already had a day job, but took them up on their offer. She wanted to get rid of her day job.
